Fantastic service and pretty decent food! It was hard to decide what I wanted off of the menu because there were so many good looking options. I got talked into the walleye tacos and looking back wish I would've tried one of the other things I had my eyes on. The nachos were pretty good and the pretzel bites were pretty run of the mill for a bar. I don't know that I'll rush back here when I'm in the area, but it's a pretty decent spot!

Nice brew pub that has variety of foods on menu including gluten free options. They also have variety of Bloody Mary options including monthly specials.

Seated outside immediately on a sunny Fall afternoon. Attentive fine service by waiter Jared. Setting very nice with space, comfy chairs, autumn leaves and sun & shaded seating. Bloody Mary was quite good-well garnished. Husband enjoyed craft beers on tap. We shared 2 apps-classic Cheesecurds with ranch and the Brussels sprouts. Both were very tasty- greasy but you'll have that! Plenty to take home.

First time trying this place while visiting family who live in the area - it's their favorite "go-to" so they wanted you to bring us ! The menu is very creative with something for everyone - Our party of 4 ordered - Charred cauliflower appetizer - OMG the Mediterranean flavors on this is a don't skip if you enjoy these flavors - STEAK Salad & for the picky eater - requested no tomatoes / cucumbers / blue cheese crumbles - and subbed the dressing for Caesar. The 9oz steak was cooked medium rare to perfection and beautifully sliced atop the salad - delicious Chopped cheese handheld - requested no - tomatoes & lettuce & pickles - forgot to grab a photo - this was another delicious Truffle shroom burger - no modifications lol & truffle fries as side - delicious ! Jalapeño bacon cheddar infused burger - no bun & requested a small lettuce bed - delicious ! They hire great team members - all these modifications and service was prompt kind and accommodating - not one single special request forgotten or missed

We stopped here on the way back home from visiting my family in Madison. It was a Sunday afternoon and our typical Cousins restaurant spot is closed on Sundays. We decided to try this tap house randomly. We ordered a few beers and I have to say, they have a generous list to choose from. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We started with an order of cheese curds. This was the best part of the visit. HUGE cheese curd squares. Very squeaky! They were fresh. The jalapeño cheeseburger was good, it was just over cooked. The fries were served hot. The ahi tuna bowl was okay. It looked a little overdone from what I am used to seeing. The restaurant itself is very large and has lots of seating. I would stop back again as I frequent this trip a few times each year, but that's only because I'm able to grab a beer and the curds. There's not much else around if Cousins is closed. I am curious to try the other locations in MN.

The one restaurant we stopped at while on our lake trip was Northern Tap House in Eau Claire. They have a great tap list and food that pairs wonderfully with those beers. The patio is also dog friendly for those that want to bring fido along like us. Full Spectrum by 3 Sheep's Brewing: A Fruited Sour Ale with Blackberry, Passionfruit and Lemongrass. Light and thirst quenching while providing pleasant sweetness from the fruit. Not overly tart and the lemongrass provided a herbal spiciness. Ellsworth Curds: Smaller than their signatures, these are the classic state fair take on the Wisconsin staple. Perfectly fried Wisconsin cheese curds served with a sweet chili sauce that gives a unique twist on the classic app. Curd Burger: Two Certified Angus Beef patties with provolone cheese, giant cheese curds, and house burger sauce. The sauce provides an umami character that cuts through the greasiness of the fried curds and meat savoriness. Nice char and caramelization on the burgers.

Excellent cheese curds. Everything is excellent tho... you can't go wrong. Love the old-fashioned, too.

Then when the host noticed I was there she was very apologetic but instead of helping me to get my pizza, she made me wait so she could help someone order over the phone. Last I checked when someone calls, you ask them to hold until you help the people actually in the store. I waited almost 15 minutes just to pick up a pizza. There's a couple tables inside with a bar but the vibe is not there. I definitely would not eat in store as there were 2 parties eating inside but they both seemed to not be having a great time. The pizza was good but the crust was falling apart. It seemed like whoever made it was their first time making a pizza. The thin cheese sticks were very good. Overall I'd give this place an average score.

However, the wait was painful (almost 45 min). The pizzas were presented to us and they asked about plates and other condiments for the pizza. We were all very hungry and got back to the group, but the pizzas did not taste good. They weren't bad, but not great. Just "meh", disappointing for the cost and the wait time. While we waited we observed that the ventilation wasn't the best and the pizza makers didn't appear to be enjoying themselves. Anyway, took off one star due to long order to presentation time, one more star due to the pizza only being so-so (at best) and one star removed for the overall experience. I can't talk to the other food or beverages, but I did leave two stars as the gentlemen that took our order was really good and the ambiance was ok. Bottom Line: With all of the pizza places in Eau Claire, I would recommend another place.

Service 5/5: we did not make a reservation, but staff did everything to accommodate us and get us seated. I really appreciate how kind they were and once we were seated, our server was attentive, making sure our drinks were always filled and that we were enjoying our meal. Ambiance 5/5: stunning environment. I highly recommend you take a peek and look at the bar because it's a bunch of little pennies and it is the coolest sight to see (I believe I heard them call it the penny bar too). I really enjoy that you could see into the kitchen while the chefs worked and how fluid they all seemed to be in their craft. Food 3/5: I was really disappointed by the food. I ordered the roasted lamb as a big fan of lamb and it was overcooked and very salty. Also, the mint gelée coupled with the root beer glacé de viande was overwhelmingly sweet. The dish was lacking a balance of acid and spice. My fiancé ordered the tater tot hot dish and I am thankful that he ordered that because we ended up sharing that the rest of the meal. Even he could not eat the Lamb and he is must less picky about flavor profiles. The hotdish was a cheesy parmesan dream with sweet corn, peas, mushrooms and I liked the textural mixture of pork and veal. Overall, I'm not sure if I would come back for a meal here. I have seen that their pizzas are really popular because they are woodfired and I wish we would've checked that first, but I wanted a cozy elevated dinner and I'm still really bummed that we did not get that.

It happened to be a very busy weekend, and the Informalist was one of the few places that did not have a long line to get seated. Got in right away and seated for some brunch. The restaurant is spacious and well designed. It's a bit upscale, but perfectly capable of making people feel relaxed and welcome. We got greeted right away by the server and settled in with menus and waters. Our order wasn't complicated: some of the Custard Battered French Toast, a short stack of pancakes, and two eggs. I also ordered a London Fog Tea Latte (a little lavender, a little vanilla, and extra foam). It didn't take long for the food to come, but the London Fog took a while longer. The French Toast was amazingly good, and the pancakes and eggs were also very good. I was half done with my meal by the time my London Fog arrived, and the server was very apologetic (saying that the coffee shop was very busy). I might have been satisfied with that, but the London Fog was just okay. While there was some extra foam, the drink itself was flat, as if they just heated up the milk and mixed it with the tea. (They need to do a better job with polishing the steamed milk so that it creates a creamy texture, especially if they ar charging $8) Overall, a good experience, and a few tweaks would have made it excellent. Would stop again if I was in the mood for the French Toast.
