It was very good. I got a side of their Caesar salad and mac & cheese. I love that you get 2 sides. The Mac & cheese was very creamy, but my salad only had 5 croutons. We headed to Texas Roadhouse with a large group of 16 (8 kids and 8 adults) during a recent weekend visit to Eau Claire for the PPA Challenger pickleball tournament. The kids made the decision to head here since they all love the TR bread and cinnamon butter. The adults weren't thrilled but went along with the decision. I will say that the hostess did get us seated in a reasonable amount of time and service was not bad! Unfortunately I'm not a fan of their food. On this visit I had steak which I requested to be medium but it arrived more like well done. Their sweet potatoes and veggies are fine and their prices are fair, but I cannot bring myself to give TR (this location or any others I've been to) more than 3 stars. In short, I ordered a Porterhouse, my wife the Strip. I asked for Medium, but recieved rare. My Steak was cut into 4 pieces, searching for done spots. I told the server, and she said "oh yeah, that's definitely rare". I can ask the manager but I don't think they'll do anything for you if you don't want this thrown back on. My wife was 3/4 done eating. So to have my wife just sit there and watch me eat, seems confusing. The manager came out and gave me two options. Split my steak bill in half, which I unfortunately agreed to, or put my steak back on. I'm assuming you don't cook customers steaks that have already been dived into, back onto the grill as that would likely be a health code violation. So, I'm assuming a microwave would have been involved. You still wanted me to pay for half a steak that was microwaved or raw. Unfortunately, this year was very different -- and deeply disappointing. When we explained our tradition to our server, Cassy, she was kind and understanding, but needed to check with the manager. That's when Manager Izzy came over and told us they would only honor one birthday, even though both were legitimate and we offered to show IDs. When we asked if sitting at separate tables would make a difference, she ignored the question entirely. Her solution? "We'll give you one birthday offer -- and you can come back another time for the other." My parents live 45 minutes away, and the whole point was to celebrate together. Izzy walked away without addressing the issue further and never returned to our table for the rest of our meal -- even though we saw her visiting other tables nearby. Thankfully, our server Cassy went above and beyond to resolve the situation by splitting the check -- which allowed both birthday guests to receive their offers. Cassy was the only reason our meal ended on a positive note, and we're very grateful to her. That said, it's frustrating that a place we've loyally returned to for over a decade now feels unreliable. Apparently whether or not we're treated fairly depends on who the manager is that day. We spent over $100 at our table -- full meals for five people -- and all we asked for was the same simple courtesy we've received for years. It's not about the ribs. It's about being treated with consistency, respect, and common sense. We may still return for my husband's or mother's birthdays in the future -- if we call ahead and get confirmation that the tradition will be honored. We went at 4 pm and were seated right away. Usually it is so busy you can't find parking and have to wait a bit for a table. I recommend going at an off time. Hubby had the 12 oz ribeye and I had the Salmon. Both were made perfect and every bite of steak was tender. The buns were outstanding and unlimited. We both had the stuffed sweet potato and it was perfect as well. I went out on a limb and tried the green beans and they were good. Perfect seasoning and little bits of bacon in them. My friends were visiting from out of town and apparently Texas BBQ is what they're missing out on life. We found this place near our hotel and got there around 8 PM. It took a while for them to take our orders and bring us our food so we chowed down on the super soft and super good bread rolls. Hmm, the fried pickles were a bit disappointing - real salty, very thin piece of pickle, and the batter kept falling off. After a few we didn't touch it. I needed the ranch to choke down a few. The smokehouse burger was quite good except it was so thick that it took a few bites to get a decent chunk - at that point the sauces were dripping all over me but well worth the mess. Last time I ordered, someone put a gravel size rock inside my child's mash potato. Luckily they didn't finish the side and we caught it before they finished. We don't tip because we picked up our food. Manager gave $25 voucher but damage was done. These kids want a tip for doing nothing. They argue don't eat out if you don't tip. Live by those rules and we'll make sure you don't have a job since you feel entitled. It's the restaurant's responsibility to pay employees hourly not the customers. If you need a tip that bad you'll jeopardize someone's food ask yourself why you're a server. Tips are for excellent service. Handing food off isn't excellent service. read more

The big problem was the wait time before being seated! This was on a Saturday night around 5:45. We were told it would be 45-50 min, so we gave them our name and left to run errands (they would text us when our table was ready). When we got back with 5 minutes to go before our 45-50-minute timeframe was up, they said it would be another 15 minutes, so we waited and waited. When we finally received the text that they were ready to seat us, we still had to wait 10 minutes (apparently you have to check in at the front desk when you get the text, but it doesn't say that). So, all in all, we waited about an hour and a half just to sit down. We will not go to the Ann Arbor, MI restaurant again! read more

We did not order appetizers. I ordered the smallest (cheapest meal) they had. My feeling is if they didn't want to seat me, then they didn't really want my money. Horrible experience with the managing owner and will simply by-pass this Texas Roadhouse location from now on. The server made a simple mistake that the three members of the management team involved in correcting dropped the ball at every opportunity. And, as it turned out, the defensive and aggressive attitude and posture displayed by the two middle managers and the managing owner during our discussion about how the situation unfolded is clearly a "from the top down through all levels of management" problem. I paid full price for my meal, neither asked for nor was offered a discount, and will never be back to this location. I've been here a few times and I've had good experiences. However, about two months ago, my boyfriend and I came here for dinner and he got food poisoning from either the rolls (they seemed undercooked and were very doughy), the chili, or the pulled pork. I am convinced that I know he got food poisoning here because he had only eaten Texas Roadhouse that day. When we got home that night, he wasn't feeling well. He ended up having to run to the bathroom multiple times in order to throw up. The next day I called the manager at the Eau Claire location and told them about our experience. I explained what had happened and they refused to accept that it was food poisoning, saying that food poisoning takes longer to take effect. They also added that no one else called about food poisoning. Then, I requested a refund and they turned me down. Not only that, but they were rude and ended up only taking down my information, in case anyone else received food poisoning. A few days later I received an email with a free appetizer voucher. I am upset because after that experience, I don't want to go back, and use the voucher for all that matter. I do have to mention that our waiter was very kind and funny. Ordered take out: filet and ribs with Mac and cheese and my wife ordered salmon with sweet potato. We also ordered the trio appetizer with potato skins boneless chicken nuggets and fried pickles. The food was good. Everything was cooked well. The only problem was the sauces we ordered wasn't in the bag. I should have checked the bag before we pulled away but we were in a hurry to get back to the house. I asked at the window if the appetizer was in the bag and was confirmed so I didn't think to ask about our sauces. I'm not going to hammer a restaurant for forgetting the sauces but am disappointed that with two people controlling the take out, that two pairs of eyes weren't used to confirm the order.
