Stopped into this locally owed FD's on a Tuesday afternoon. There was one server working the entire restaurant. Though she was the only one she was attentive to all the tables all while answering the phone and fulfilling to go orders. This location doesn't offer lunch specials like other locations. I opted for the spicy grilled chicken sandwich and fries, and a water. The sandwich was hot and decently seasoned, though LOADED with onion strings. The fries were fine. Had to add lemon to the water as it tasted like well water. For $17 I can't say I'd come back but it was fine for a quick but pricey lunch. read more

I went to famous Dave, in mall dr. I was received by a smiling host that escorted me and asked me where I would like to be seated, the place was mostly empty so I chose a table. The waiter was smiling and kind, very professional, offered me drinks and it's options.i ordered a brisket, the food was on my table fast, the brisket was tender and nicely done,freshly made. The waiter was on the table from time to time checking if everything was alright. Finished my meal,left a tip over 20% percent. The experience was excellent! Waiter and host were professional, I was treated respectfully like it's supposed to, Bill totalled over thirty dollars. A bargain, given the excellent service and quality of food! It's a staple for our family going back years. Food is good, service is fast. I appreciate the basic decor and casual atmosphere.

I don't think I've rated Famous Dave's and if not, that's a travesty. Food: We have ordered multiple times and have never had a bad meal. Always. Taste: Food is tasty, and has always arrived very warm. It's usually delivery so it's not expected to be hot off the grill. It definitely doesn't sit under a heat lamp. Cost Well worth the money. Lots of variation and nothing overpriced. Quantity Holy goodness. If you walk away from this place and are still hungry, you didn't eat at Famous Dave's. Honestly. It's always an abundance for food. Service They have always been prompt with their creations and that's always appreciated. Ambiance We haven't eaten in at FD so I can't comment on that. Overall I would rate FD a consistent A+ for taste, cost and quantity. We keep coming back because it's reliable taste and freshness. Best thing is the Bread Pudding. I mean, I will get it to go and just order that. If you don't order it your a fool. Almost gets 5 stars just for that. However.... Otherwise, it's an ok generic bbq place. Far better than ordering ribs at Applebees or Chilis. Good sides. Good Service. It's not a classic memphis bbq place. It's a pretty average style Kansas City BBQ joint. Ribs, Brisket, smoked sausage, Pulled Pork. Mostly tomato based sweet (or hot) sauces. They will ususally have a cheap beer ($1 pbr, $1.50 Lienie original). They will do just about anything for you to order something more expensive. Bloody Mary's are... ok. Not great. Kind of expensive with limited garnish (pickles and celery). Suprisingly decent wine menu - not extensive, but all decent bottles, and they are not marked up 400%. But who drinks wine at a bbq joint? Quality is going down over the years. Ordered brisket once, was served cold. Cold? Brisket sandwichs are now chopped brisket. Last time got a pile of dried out brisket, 25% of which was burnt ends. Not good eats. Sent back. Generally pretty good service. I have had one bad server, but overall, pretty well trained. read more

We went on a Friday night. We went to two other places first and they were packed and we would have had to wait so we ended up here. It wasn't very busy so that should have been a clue. Food was mediocre. Chicken strips were ground up chicken, as were the boneless wings. The fish was decent but it was all breading and little actual fish. Ribs were OK, but they were tough. When we got the bill I was shocked to see that they charged $4.75 for a domestic bottled beer. Seriously? This wasn't a specialty beer. Just a regular old beer that you can get anywhere for a maximum of $3.50. Honestly, Dickey's or Grizzlies is a much better choice. We won't likely be coming back to Dave's unless the other two barbecue places burn down. read more

Stopped by for a mid-week BBQ fix. I tend to order the rib tips and did so again tonight. The service was outstanding; I wish I could at the same for the rib tips. Too often they are overdone and that was the case again tonight. Abby was our server. She was excellent except she charged me for two drinks (I only had one). At Dave's on a Saturday night, it was kind of busy and Abby was our waitress. It looked like she was waiting too many tables for one person and service was a little slow. The reason I say service was slow and give 5 stars is because when Abby came to our table she alway had a smile, a positive attitude, and made us feel like we were her only table. The other reason for 5 stars is the burnt ends sandwich! I've been going to Dave's for years but have only discovered this sandwich in the last several months and can't get enough of it. For the price that I'm paying, I would expect the barbecued items to be less dried out. Honestly: the sides are usually better than the entrees. This place is usually over-crowded, service is usually slow, and if you really had a hankering for Famous Dave's, you could find a better barbecue pit for sure. read more

One word. Yuck! We had the brisket and it was so fatty. It was disgusting. The server didn't give us the opportunity to provide feedback, just simply gave us the check. It's like they've given up. It used to be that they were super busy and the food was great. Now it's awful. We did let the manager know at the end and he gave us some gift certificates. I wouldn't even give them a star if it was possible. We got there 12:30 and it was pretty empty, it took 30 minutes to get our order placed then 45 mintues to literally get our food which was cold. Our server never once asked if our food was okay, refills or anything. She literally ignored us to the point that I had to actually ask for the check. We used to love famous Dave's. Infamous Dave's. A party of three and only one of us had food that was prepared properly. One of party had all you can eat rib tips that were so hard and dry that they were inedible. He sent them back. He never sends back food so they must have been some very special kind of terrible. (More on the send back and re-order later). Another member of our party had soup of the day and a baked potato. To me, this seems a VERY difficult order to prepare poorly. Nope. The soup was room temperature and the baked potato was cold in the center. The only reason the order wasn't sent back was because our sweet friend didn't want to upset the meal anymore since a dish had already been sent back. The lack of effort in the kitchen on this visit was impressive. Finally, my dish - it was good. I had the two meat platter with beef brisket (tender) and catfish (fried and crispy). The dipping sauce for the fish was quite tasty. The sides were good, not great, but about what you get at a chain restaurant. Back to the re-order... we waited for 15 minutes only to be told there was a miscommunication in the kitchen and that he'd have to wait even longer. Once the food arrived (he ordered the same meal I had since it was the dish that wasn't an embarrassment) and his catfish was good the brisket was dry and tough. Oh, my, god... Like I said, I don't know what was going on in the kitchen, the dishes being pushed out should have made the cooks ashamed. Absolutely no pride in the food. The meal ended with our friend sticking a fork straight up and down in the tough as a bone brisket and walking out. I still tipped. The waitress was fine - not great, not crappy and I don't believe in penalizing waitstaff for kitchen faults. BTW, She comped his meal. I would not recommend this restaurant. Ever. To anyone. Cheers! Famous Dave's may possibly be my favorite restaurant chain. I got the feast for one, which has a little of everything they offer, and it was all great. The beans, coleslaw, ribs, pulled pork, all of it. The atmosphere is great, and I love that they play the blues. The last time I went to Famous Dave's the service was fast, faster than I remember it being before. The only negative thing I can think about Famous Dave's is it's not the cheapest place in the world to eat. The drinks can be pricey too, but that goes for all chain restaurants. Still, Famous Dave's is good enough to earn a five star rating in my book. read more

We live in San Antonio Texas, & whenever we make the 1200 mile trip to Eau Claire we always have a meal at Famous Dave's. Over Mothers Day I took my wife and my mother there for lunch. I don't know what they did, but the ribs were by far the best we have ever eaten. Anywhere. The meat practically fell off the bone and was just delicious - in fact all the food was just delicious. And of course you can't leave without having bread pudding. My wife, a connoisseur of ribs and bread pudding, said this is the best bread pudding in the US. So, if you want the best, Famous Dave's is the place. read more

Famous Dave's is an OK place. It's never ideal, but it'll do if you're really craving BBQ. I've ordered takeout from this location twice before, and on neither occasion did they include sauce, utensils, napkins, or wet naps with my order. The first time I thought it was an oversight but it happened again. I don't know if this is their policy or what but it never happens at their Madison location. If you get takeout, make sure to check your food sack to see that you have everything you need. read more

I love their food! Eau Claire location is easily the best I've been to. My family loves their BBQ, and their corn bread muffins are ridiculously good. They'd get 5 stars, but last time I had a pulled chicken sandwich, there was a bone in it. Definitely going again, but going with the brisket next time, just to be safe! read more

Going downhill since it franchised. Used to enjoy the picnic-BBQ atmosphere, meals in baskets, garbage can lids, real cornbread muffins. Now it's funky shaped plates, generic squares of cornbread, and so-so food. Last time there the ribs were dried out and burned on the end-never should have been sent to the table. Sent them back. Very disappointing. Even the décor isn't as eclectic as before - wow, people, way to take the fun out of a place. We won't be going back. read more
