Great food and great atmosphere. The first floor is mainly the arcade with a window for ice cream and a bar on the side. The second floor hosts the restaurant with a good amount of seating (booth indoor and outdoor). The prime rib burger was pretty good, as were the tacos and side of fries. I was refunded only a 1/4th of what I paid for a rehearsal dinner for almost 50 people. It was a steep price to pay 19.99 for their South of the Border taco buffet, which ended up looking worse than a taco bar in someone's garage. No cold food on ice. Toppings in 5 small bowls without enough tongs for each. Ran out of ALL toppings after 15 people and took over 30 minutes to replace when there were at least 20 starving people waiting to eat. Then as soon as that came they had no softshells and again took time to replace. Then ran out of plates, same story. Each time me having to run and tell them we needed items and it taking forever for it to be replaced. An embarrassment and beyond disappointing as guests kept trying to go get food and could not get their full meal. I spent time on what should have been a dinner celebrating an upcoming wedding, constantly having to tell the staff what was missing in order for us to eat. In the end the upper management person I talked to was completely unprofessional and 'decided' what was 'fair' for a refund and told me there was no response needed from me as our conversation (thru email) was going nowhere. So beyond upsetting as we were hoping for a beautiful event for our wedding weekend and it was a complete embarrassment. Ultimately management did an unacceptable job preparing and executing an event we paid a lot of money for and took no responsibility for the mess of a night that was the result of obviously being understaffed. read more

Great venue for a party!! I just gave my friend a bridal shower. Great food, really great customer service and a fabulous space upstairs to hold any a small or large group! I have about 50 people . I was able to come in 3 hours to decorate and make the space perfect. The food selection has something for everyone! We decided to go with a buffet. They accommodate the vegetarian and gluten free folks with nice selections for them. If I have another party, I'll definitely use them again! I'll admit I just love this place. I love that I can head upstairs and get a traditional dining experience or grab a drink and play some arcade games downstairs. The entire concept is right up my alley. We've been here several times but most recently for dinner. We sat at the bar upstairs and ordered an appetizer, wings, a sandwich, and some drinks. The bartenders are super friendly and everything came promptly. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable for the excellent flavors and cool menu items. As a party of 10 without reservations, I rate 44 North GREAT! We met here for an 11 year old family birthday party and "didn't think we needed reservations". LOL The staff was VERY accommodating. We waited about 15 min for another large party to leave and then were able to take their spot. Service was great, considering you could tell they were short staffed. As a prior Wisconsinite, it was great to be back in Wisconsin on a Friday for a Fish fry and 44 North did not disappoint. Delish Fish Fry, just what I was hoping for. Also, nice old fashioned! My family also tried the shrimp tacos, very good- little spicy for the orderer but delicious to me. We had some dietary needs with the group and the staff was extremely accommodating and everything came out as requested. We decided to eat outside because my mother-in-law needed extra space for her wheelchair. The inside, they only have tables and booths, or HIGH seating. We sat outside, and it was a little brisk. I ordered the rib basket for my entree, and mashed potatoes for my side instead of the potato dippers aka "fry strips"..My husband ordered the Coconut Shrimp and Coleslaw for his side. Here is where things started to go "South".... We had quite a bit of Pickle Fries. The waitress said she would get us some more ranch, and never came back with anymore ranch. When we got our entrees, my ribs were disgusting, I'm sorry, but just being honest! I KNOW when a place tries to add a "grilled or smoked" flavor to foods by adding liquid smoke...It was disappointing to know that my ribs were basically oven baked and the sauce had an abundance of liquid smoke. The ribs tasted weird, and it was just disappointing to say the least. If you're going to offer ribs, PLEASE get a char grill and throw them on there. I make a really good BBQ sauce and would love to make them myself! I do, however, have to say my mashed potatoes were really good, and besides the Pickle fries, they were the best thing I had, even though they were cold when they came out to me. Our waitress was nowhere to be seen for a long time, which was not good customer service. Needless to say, this was not a good first experience. This is an interesting place. The main floor is bar/restaurant and video arcade making it quite noisy. We were there on a Friday evening and the arcade was busy. Went to 44 North restaurant in Altoona, last night. Had excellent food but when it came to pay it was a nightmare. We had a $50.00 gift card our bill was 47.50. We left the waitress $7.00 additional tip besides the 2.50 left on card. The manager told us we still owed 6.00 because Westconsin CU charges them 6.00 to activate their card. I said no I activated it before we came and it said it was 50.00. He argued with me so I finally gave them 6.00 more dollars. Will never go there again for food. Terrible experience. Will NOT recommend this place. Never heard of how stupid that manager was. Didn't get his name or would have called and complained today but we were so mad we didn't think to get his name. I should have kept the card as well because there was still money on it. read more

Very disappointed in our experience for the price we had to pay. Had a 30 minute wait for a table. That didn't bother us as we got a drink at the bar. As our buzzer rang we walked upstairs to be sat down at a booth. We were greeted by a waitress asking for drink orders. We still had ours from downstairs so we were content. She left and came back minutes later to order. She started by saying, "I just want to inform you, we will have to hold your food order for 15 minutes after you order as we have some people with reservations in front of you." A couple things: 1. We just waited a half hour for a table...Why do we have to wait an extra 15 minutes on top of food prep to get our food? 2. COVID rules only allow 50% capacity...How slow is it at full capacity? 3. Why make a waitress tell a customer that? After this, our appetizer (Nachos, 10/10) came out and within 10 minutes our entree came out. No silverware was at table until we asked when they came back after dropping off our main entree. Our Prime Rib was overcooked and tough, almost like they literally put it in a warmer for 15 extra minutes after we ordered because we didn't have a reservation.
