Out here in what feels like the middle of nowhere WI a group of 6 of us needed dinner. But we needed a place that could be gluten free for one of our group. It seems that very few places can make that claim and be good about it, but we narrowed it down to sandbar and not are we glad we did!!! My friend misfit got burgers and said they were quite good.. I, on the other hand, got a special.. a flatbread with buffalo chicken tenders and Mac and cheese on it.. im still drooling over it!! Our server was amazing. Traveling home after a weekend in the Twin Cities and decided to stop and give this place a try. Thank you for having Gluten-free options. My wife has Celiac Disease and eating out while traveling is always a challenge. They offer both gluten free buns for the sandwiches and a crust for their pizzas. The service was slow, but that wasn't their fault. The place was very busy when we walked in, with most patrons arriving just before us. We enjoyed this place so much we ate here on our way up North then decided to stop by again on our way home. The food was delicious. Burgers and fries tasted great. The spicy walleye sandwich tasted Devine. Everyone was very friendly and answered our questions about the menu. Getting to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere is always a plus in the summer. SandBar has seating both indoors and outdoors, and I suspect something was wrong with the AC indoors this visit because it was cooler outside than it was inside. Ugh. They do have a good amount of docks available for arriving via pontoon/boat, which is how we got there. Our group of eight had the Boss Mac, Bossman Cheese Steak, special of the day tacos and a shrimp salad, Southwest Santa Fe Salad and Sandbar Special pan pizza. My SW Santa Fe Salad was delicious and I would definitely get it in the future. The pizza that my husband ordered didn't have much cheese on it, and he was disappointed that the "pan" crust was so thin. Our server was super attentive. One little thing is that we weren't told about the gratuity added on for our group, nor did we see it on the menu (and I looked later and it wasn't on the menu shown on their website). It was $35 which certainly was not the issue, we actually added more on top of that, but until my eagle-eyed sister spotted it on the group's bill we would have tipped based off the total at the bottom of the receipt that already included the $35 gratuity. read more

Overall, pretty great experience at the Sandbar Bar and Grill. We're got there at 7 on a Saturday and there was seating available. Good variety of beers on tap, I got the New Glarus Spotted Cow. Several bar games available, and canoe/kayak rental outside by the lake. We started with the triple order of cheese curds, one of each kind. Spicy, Regular, and garlic. The garlic were the big winner at our table, but they were all delicious. 2 in the group got the yummy delicious burger, and boy is it ever yummy and delicious! Crunchy peanut butter, jalapeno, raspberry chipotle sauce, bacon, and swiss. Another got the Southwest salad, and it looked amazing! The only blip was my spicy grilled chicken was not, and was super bland, it had no seasoning whatsoever. I'm sure this was an oversight. read more

While camping near Chippewa Falls a few 3 weekends ago, we went kayaking at Lake Wissota and stopped by Sandbar afterwords for some Grub. Oh my goodness...we could not have been more happy! First, we are from Chicago and are being VERY cautious about the COVID-19 Pandemic and refuse to sit indoors. While this didn't seem to be the norm, the Sandbar staff were super accommodating and welcoming in letting us set on the outside patio so early in morning! Safety first! Second, I cannot reiterate how welcoming, kind, and helpful the staff were, especially a lady who was juggling us and preparation for a private event. She was wonderful and so welcoming! She made us feel right at home and made sure we were taken care of even though we were outside. Third, the bar menu was extensive and yummy! We both enjoyed some local brews, water for hydration, and some coffee to wake up! Fourth, and best of all: the food was INCREDIBLE! We started with the original cheese curds and thy were PERFECT! I got the southwest chicken salad and LOVED it! A perfect balance of greens and delicious toppings and seasoned chicken! My spouse got one of the burgers and fries and help Ed it! So juicy and flavorful! Fifth, the view from the patio is GORGEOUS! It was like a postcard overlooking the lake! So scenic! Plus the prices are excellent and the bathrooms were spacious and clean! We LOVED our trip to camp near Chippewa Falls...but our experience at Sandbar was an overall highlight! Thanks for treating us so well and for producing delicious grub! We went here early on Sunday evening before Memorial Day. Good thing we came early. The place filled up. We enjoyed the friendly staff and good food. Was surprised when I pulled in on a Tuesday night at 8:30 and the place was packed. Not much seating available. Pulled a stool at the bar and was greeted right away by the bartender. He was great throughout the meal and very attentive. I found out quickly why the bar was so busy, it was trivia night and people were really into it. I've been or seen quite a few trivia but this had that small town feel where everyone seemed to know the trivia guy and were really competitive. Ordered the SandBar Burger and upgraded the side to buffalo fries. Both were delicious and prepared very well. I was very impressed here and even bought a hat since I want to remember this trip. If/when I come back up to this area, this will definitely be on the list to go back to. It also always helps that the workers are very attentive and friendly, even when they are slammed and this guy was that. Also, trivia is apparently every Tuesday and Thursday, so stop in! read more

Found this place in the way home from a weekend trip. Stopped for lunch and a couple beers. It was a really nice place! Clean and well kept. They have a great garage(?) that serves as an open room to the outside but shaded from the sun. Nice view of the lake and plenty of air circulation to help combat covid, due to the fact that three of the walls were basically all garage doors. Friendly, laid back staff. I thought they had a really nice take in hamburgers - a little more variety than normal. I'd go again! :) read more

Great fish fry at $11 for two pieces of fish. Both the deep fried fish and the broiled fish were excellent. The sweet potato tots were great, and the baked potato was done just right. There were also other choices for potatoes. Dinners came with cole slaw and warm rolls. I would have liked a choice of a small green salad instead of the slaw. We didn't get lemon slices for the fish. The dining area was clean, and the staff checked on us often. Service was quick even though the restaurant was quite busy at noon on a Friday. The food came but we never got the appetizers so we told her to forget about them. I ordered the "The Best Grilled Cheese" as they put it and it was anything but that. The bread was barely grilled. It wasn't even browned. Boneless wings were on special that night so my sister and husband ordered them. My husband got the dry rub jerk wings which looked more like a frozen chicken nugget out of a bag. The dry rub was in a condiment cup to dip your chicken into it. If I could give the service here no stars, I would. I have never been treated with such disregard by any waitstaff as I had the night I dined here. I would have a further review of the food if we had actually been served. We placed an order of burgers on their "burger" night, and to no end, after 45 minutes, hadn't heard so much as an, "I'm sorry for the wait", or "it's coming right out". After everyone around us had been served entirely...we decided to leave. With which they still charged me for my drink... No thanks. read more
