Blue gill dinner without potato - so fresh !
    Doreen A.

Visiting family in the area and they suggested this spot ! Bluegill dinner minus potato & subbed in a Caesar salad for upcharge. Had to order this as I've never been to a restaurant with bluegill on the menu (living in the Chicago far western suburbs). WOW bluegill was so fresh & nice crunch on the breading which definitely did not overpower the thickness of the fish. House made caesar salad dressing was probably the best I've ever had & that's no small task ! Don't skip on the house made garlic butter croutons if you can. Ribeye was prepared nicely & was tasty. Mixed veggies had great seasoning. Kids mac n cheese was homemade & great ! Had snap peas as the side which was a very nice option. Shrimp dinner was very good - looked to be the same nice thin n crunchy breading used on the bluegill. Philly cheese steak sandwich was great. Lastly a couple of us had one of their signature cocktails called Cucumber Collins - gin forward delicious - a tiny bit heavy pour that we a little splash of lemonade to it making it PERFECT. Lastly we arrived about 6:15 on a Tuesday evening and while the restaurant was almost full - they were able to accommodate our party of 5.

Even though we didn't get to see any planes take off or land as we sat with a view of the tarmac, this place sure offered the best views as we did the Curd Crawl. The airport itself is quite small, but this restaurant had a decent number of folks stopping in on a rainy Saturday. Service was great, as was the food! We ordered cheese curds (of course) along with the sausage sampler, because we needed some meat to offset the incredible amounts of cheese we were ingesting that day. The cheese curds had great texture and squeak, while the meats were all quite tasty, the bread fresh and heated by the grill. I can see why this restaurant would be a good destination even for people who weren't using the airport.

We split our checks, and our meals were around $13-$17. Three out of six of us tipped over $20, one paid for her $8 meal with a $10 bill and told the server to keep the change, one tipped less than $20, and one didn't get anything. In context, our discussion was about trying to one-up each other with our tips, and a random server, with no context, said something along the lines of, "If you guys are going to be tipping low, I suggest you don't speak so loud." We explained that we were not tipping low, but she then reported us to the manager on duty. We thanked our server for helping us, and before heading downstairs, we were discussing our tips while passing the manager. The manager stopped us and said that we didn't have to be rude and that we shouldn't be rude to her servers or we would be kicked out. I explained to her that we were not being rude, that we tipped her server well, and that we appreciated Reboot since the majority of us have been there often. I then explained that we were not trying to be rude to her or her servers, and I apologized if she felt that way. I explained that we would be downstairs hanging out and having fun if that was alright with her. She disregarded everything I said and repeated that if we kept being rude, we would be kicked out. We headed downstairs, and the darts were broken, which wasted many of our tokens, but we did not want to bother the staff more than we clearly already had, so we spent the rest of the night playing pool. I have never had a bad experience at Reboot until now and feel like, as customers, our feelings were not heard. We did tip well and feel as though we were being stereotyped for being teenagers. We believe it wasn't right for the other server to be rude to us or report us to her manager, especially out of context. The server that did help us we thanked him for his service and told him to have a nice night.

Service 5/5: we did not make a reservation, but staff did everything to accommodate us and get us seated. I really appreciate how kind they were and once we were seated, our server was attentive, making sure our drinks were always filled and that we were enjoying our meal. Ambiance 5/5: stunning environment. I highly recommend you take a peek and look at the bar because it's a bunch of little pennies and it is the coolest sight to see (I believe I heard them call it the penny bar too). I really enjoy that you could see into the kitchen while the chefs worked and how fluid they all seemed to be in their craft. Food 3/5: I was really disappointed by the food. I ordered the roasted lamb as a big fan of lamb and it was overcooked and very salty. Also, the mint gelée coupled with the root beer glacé de viande was overwhelmingly sweet. The dish was lacking a balance of acid and spice. My fiancé ordered the tater tot hot dish and I am thankful that he ordered that because we ended up sharing that the rest of the meal. Even he could not eat the Lamb and he is must less picky about flavor profiles. The hotdish was a cheesy parmesan dream with sweet corn, peas, mushrooms and I liked the textural mixture of pork and veal. Overall, I'm not sure if I would come back for a meal here. I have seen that their pizzas are really popular because they are woodfired and I wish we would've checked that first, but I wanted a cozy elevated dinner and I'm still really bummed that we did not get that.

It happened to be a very busy weekend, and the Informalist was one of the few places that did not have a long line to get seated. Got in right away and seated for some brunch. The restaurant is spacious and well designed. It's a bit upscale, but perfectly capable of making people feel relaxed and welcome. We got greeted right away by the server and settled in with menus and waters. Our order wasn't complicated: some of the Custard Battered French Toast, a short stack of pancakes, and two eggs. I also ordered a London Fog Tea Latte (a little lavender, a little vanilla, and extra foam). It didn't take long for the food to come, but the London Fog took a while longer. The French Toast was amazingly good, and the pancakes and eggs were also very good. I was half done with my meal by the time my London Fog arrived, and the server was very apologetic (saying that the coffee shop was very busy). I might have been satisfied with that, but the London Fog was just okay. While there was some extra foam, the drink itself was flat, as if they just heated up the milk and mixed it with the tea. (They need to do a better job with polishing the steamed milk so that it creates a creamy texture, especially if they ar charging $8) Overall, a good experience, and a few tweaks would have made it excellent. Would stop again if I was in the mood for the French Toast.

I ordered the meat lover skillet and it was everything you want in a hearty breakfast--loaded with flavor, perfectly cooked, and incredibly satisfying. I Googled for places and this place had an outstanding score, so I was expecting good things. And that is exactly what we found here. It was a local diner scene with a little upscale flamboyance thrown in to make it something much more special. Food: Fresh and quality are the two main highlights on the menu. I noticed a lot of things were made in-house and prepared daily. The produce that was on each dish was bright, vibrant and at peak freshness. The berries were bold, the lettuce was crisp and the tomatoes were meaty and big. It kicked everything up a notch. And yes, the food was amazing because of it. Large portions to fill you right up and get you ready to get back on the road. Verdict: Awesome food without losing that small town feel made this an A+ stop.
