Context: MEA break with family in Green Bay, WI and driving back to Minnesota. We got hungry for lunch and all of us were feeling a good burger or sandwich and to watch some football.
Aesthetic: Classic small-town bar with some thoughtful design put into it. Judging from a few context clues, I think this place might be fairly new to this branding and name and taking over from a previous joint. Lots of stuff to do while drinking or eating here - slot machines, pool, darts, and lots of TVs for sports. Not a big place but we didn't feel squeezed in - plenty of seating to go around for everyone who came in.
Food and Drink: Decent variety of burgers and sandwiches with some very tasty looking breakfast concepts as well. I almost got breakfast but I was really feeling a burger. I was hoping for some unique takes on the classic burger and I was not disappointed. There were many contenders to choose from but I was immediately smitten with the Hot Mess Burger with jalapeno cream cheese, bacon, and spicy jam. Yep, sign me up. The rest of my family played it a little safter and chose classics like the patty melt and French dip. We also tried the pickle fries because a deep fried pickle is always a good idea.
All the food was very enjoyable. Decent portions, everything was cooked how it should be, etc. We had no complaints.
Service: Service was small town friendly and fast. The staff all worked together to make sure drinks and food were going out quickly and that each table was being served efficiently. Great teamwork behind the kitchen and bar.
Price: Prices were very reasonable and what you would normally find at a smaller town grill and bar. Nothing to complain about here.
My Consensus: A great place to grab a unique take on a burger and watch this week's football game with family and friends or come a little earlier and try their Hangover Brunch and prep before the day's big game even begins. read more
