Great food at a great value, cooked fresh. Kind service in a spacious building. Very accommodating of a larger group.

Went to Max's for an early Saturday dinner while celebrating special events. Seated immediately and the setting/vibe is very nice. Nicely decorated, wood floors, tin ceiling. Friendly capable service from bartender/host/wait staff. We did not feel rushed which was great. I had the jalapeño margarita and it was great. Our water glasses were kept filled and dishes removed promptly from table when we were done with them. The chips and salsa were good and replenished when we requested. The cheese dip was disappointing. Lacked flavor. We did not get the chorizo in it as someone in our group was vegetarian. Maybe chorizo would have helped give it needed flavor? Entrees included buzo tacos with blackened mahi, vegetarian fajitas and swordfish with vegetables. Everything was tasty and filling. I thought the beans with my tacos were just ok. My husband loved the swordfish. After he placed his order for it, the server told him the price in menu was inaccurate due to market price. $4 more than what was on the menu. Best practice would be to have accurate price in the menu OR indicate it is market price (as was the case for the lobster entrees). Just providing constructive criticism. Overall, a fine place to dine. I will come again.

Downtown Chippewa Falls after 2 pm, it is difficult to find a place for quick bite. My coworker and I tried to find a place for sandwich, somehow ended up at Max's since all the stores were closed at 2 pm. I ordered Buzo Taco with grilled red snappers. It was great! My friend had Ahi Tuna Burger and it was great, especially the fries were awesome!

We were in the back room for a party of ten. Our server did an amazing job at keeping up with all of us, whether it was concerning food or drinks. I can't list off what everyone had, but I know what a few of us had: Pina Colada Halibut, Blackened Scallop Linguine, Tropical Mahi Mahi, Vallarta Shrimp and Chicken Chimichanga. We all really enjoyed our food and had a great experience overall!!!

This was our first time at Max's and it did not disappoint! Service was excellent and the food was awesome. I had the blackened swordfish and mixed veggies my husband had the lamb. Both entrees were tasty and cooked perfectly. The keylime cheesecake was killer for dessert. We will definitely be back!

Nice space. Mostly seafood options on the menu, plus some steaks and street tacos. The piña colada halibut that was the special of the night. It was good. I have the classic margarita for seven dollars which is also very good. I had the calamari app which was very good. My wife has the pork Carnitas street tacos what she thought we're just OK. We got a side of guacamole for the chips and salsa. we went on a Wednesday night and were seated immediately.

Exquisite seafood...what? in Chippewa Falls? Disguised as a Mexican restaurant? YES x3! I tried the Fish Burrito (made to order with snapper)-it was spicy and fresh fish! I couldn't figure out which cheese side I LOVED better (they were both spicy and wonderful). That was nothing compared to the Blackened Ahi! The service was excellent and the restaurant peaceful (the whole vibe was a positive experience!).

Our service was alright but they were swamped so no fault of hers. Drinks were great, food was fantastic. My kids loved the touch of the curly straws. We aren't local but if we're ever in the area again we would come back. Very coastal style decor.

This is one of those places that is certainly more than it looks, perhaps not as great as it could be but still very enjoyable. Everything was cooked well save for the two deep fried items that gave off a fryer oil needs changing flavor and greasiness. So can't the calamari but the seafood burrito and grilled Mahi Mahi were really good.

Our first time here. We had the Blackened Ahi Tuna and Fat Fish Burrito. The tuna was very tasty with fresh vegetables in the middle. The Burrito, we had red snapper, was excellent. We took half home for another complete meal.

The food is spot on. Steak and seafood. I've always have outstanding service. Half price bottles of wine on tuesdays. No longer have Pilsner Urquell on tap (boooooo). Everything else is good. Street parking can be a challenge. Downtown town Eau Claire is parking challenged, but not the restaurants fault.

Our server, Gracie, was phenomenal in all regards, and from now on I'll always make reservations and request a table in her section. We weren't insanely hungry so we skipped appetizers, soup, salad. My husband order the Chicken Tchoupitoulas and I selected the medallions of beef with bernaise sauce. My guy's chicken was addictive; I only got a little nibble but I'd be hard-pressed not to order it from now on. The Chicken Chop was flavor-forward, with succulent chicken and veggies. The medallions I selected were cooked medium rare as requested, juicy and tender, but lacked seasoning. The mashed potatoes that were on my plate needed more butter and/or gravy. I think the big issue with this place would be parking, as it's in a high-traffic area and doesn't have it's own lot. Even going for dinner as early as we did, street parking was scarce.

First time here. We were up from Milwaukee for a family birthday. Normally, we would go to a…read moresteakhouse in Eau Claire, but with a recent move to Chippewa Falls, we wanted to try something closer. The Chophouse had good reviews, so we gave it a try. (Spoiler -- it was a delightful meal!) The Wissota Chophouse is inside the Cobblestone Hotel. It has a separate entrance that leads right into the dining room. It's not a very big space, but the table arrangements are comfortable, with different-sized tables to accommodate larger groups. We had a 7:00 reservation and were seated right away. Menus and waters came quickly, and our server checked in with us immediately. In addition to taking our drink order (Huckleberry Old Fashioned for me), our server did a nice job of explaining the menu items. He was also candid about the dishes he didn't think were the "best" choices. I really appreciate it when a server feels connected to the customers and confident enough in their own palate to share honest opinions. We ordered the calamari appetizer. Our server wasn't crazy about that choice, but we went ahead anyway. It was "okay." It's sautéed rather than fried, so you have to set your expectations accordingly. It was hot, flavorful, and a good portion. However, like a lot of sautéed calamari, the rings were overly chewy :( They also provide a complimentary bread service (French?), which was fresh and warm, served with butter and a couple of different salts. That was unique and very good. Our entrées included Ribeye, Chicken Ballotine, Carbonara, and Sea Bass (for me). These items are à la carte, so we also ordered sides of Brussels Sprouts and Mac & Cheese. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and everything was served at the right temperature. The Ribeye was excellent, and big enough to share. The Chicken Ballotine was tender and flavorful. My Sea Bass was amazing, though the portion was a bit small. Both sides were very good, especially the Brussels Sprouts, which had just the right amount of crisp. We saved room for dessert and shared two -- the Chocolate Cake and the Raspberry Tiramisu. Both were excellent. Overall, the evening was a big success. I really appreciated our server's help and attention throughout the night (thanks, Bruce). The food was wonderful (with one exception). The atmosphere was upscale but casual. It's not a cheap dinner, but for what you get, I feel it's a good value. Overall, a memorable evening -- I'd gladly return.

Christmas day and I needed fuel before heading back home to MN after visiting with my family in…read moreChippewa. Fortunately, Kwik Trip was open, so I swung in, as I didn't want just fuel, but also a coffee for the road. I immediately noticed the regular unleaded was $2.49 per gallon and was irritated that I passed a few other stations at $2.39, all because I wanted a coffee and didn't want to simply pay at the pump and go (other stations weren't open due to Christmas). So, there I am, out of the car and at the pump to fill up. My vehicle takes mid-grade at EVERY other gas station on the planet, but not here at Kwik Trip in Chippewa Falls, WI - their mid-grade is 15% ethanol and only 88 octane. WTF? I've never seen that before. Now imagine my surprise when I'm forced to fill with premium (91 octane, no ethanol) at $2.99 per gallon! Yikes. My vehicle needs 89 octane, due to some fancy twin turbo technology and rather than voiding a warranty on my vehicle, I'm forced to take the ridiculously overpriced fuel. I feel violated, Kwik Trip - you gouged me...all because you decided to offer 88 octane rather than 89 like everyone else. You don't pull this same BS in MN, so why here in Chippewa Falls, WI? I won't be back...not here, not to any Kwik Trip - your decision here is shady, and now I don't trust you at any location you own, even those in MN. BTW - I gave you 2 stars rather than only 1 because the coffee I got was delicious.
