Came here for dinner on Saturday night and it was busy. Staff were nice as soon as we entered the building. We made a reservation and I'm glad we did as almost every table was full. We started out by ordering the queso, guacamole and calamari for appetizers. All 3 were very good! I order a skinny margarita to start with and it was good but came in a small glass. I wish it came in a tall glass just like the regular margarita did. The regular margarita was very good as well. You have the option of salt or tajin on the rim. I special ordered the sprimp fajitas as they didn't just have shrimp as an option. Thankfully they were still able to accommodate my request because the fajitas were delicious!! You get rice and beans on the side & an option of guac or sour cream as a topping. You also get a choice of flour or corn tortillas. You definitely get your bang for your buck with this entree. The chef use to be the same chef as Manny's in Eau Claire so all the food was delicious. They have to many fresh seafood options which I loved. Overall I'd definitely come back!! read more

This is a small restaurant in downtown C.F. featuring southwestern/mexican food. They are big ceviche is really fresh and delicious with shrimp and scallops in a citrusy marinade. Went to Max's for an early Saturday dinner while celebrating special events. Seated immediately and the setting/vibe is very nice. Nicely decorated, wood floors, tin ceiling. Friendly capable service from bartender/host/wait staff. We did not feel rushed which was great. I had the jalapeño margarita and it was great. Our water glasses were kept filled and dishes removed promptly from table when we were done with them. The chips and salsa were good and replenished when we requested. The cheese dip was disappointing. Lacked flavor. We did not get the chorizo in it as someone in our group was vegetarian. Maybe chorizo would have helped give it needed flavor? Entrees included buzo tacos with blackened mahi, vegetarian fajitas and swordfish with vegetables. Everything was tasty and filling. I thought the beans with my tacos were just ok. My husband loved the swordfish. After he placed his order for it, the server told him the price in menu was inaccurate due to market price. $4 more than what was on the menu. Best practice would be to have accurate price in the menu OR indicate it is market price (as was the case for the lobster entrees). Just providing constructive criticism. We were in the back room for a party of ten. Our server did an amazing job at keeping up with all of us, whether it was concerning food or drinks. I can't list off what everyone had, but I know what a few of us had: Pina Colada Halibut, Blackened Scallop Linguine, Tropical Mahi Mahi, Vallarta Shrimp and Chicken Chimichanga. This is one of those places that is certainly more than it looks, perhaps not as great as it could be but still very enjoyable. Everything was cooked well save for the two deep fried items that gave off a fryer oil needs changing flavor and greasiness. There wasn't one person in the restaurant when we walked in and no one came in while we were there. That should have been a good indication that we should eat elsewhere. The food was terrible. I don't even know what else to say, the food was just bad. That being said, the service was fantastic. The waitress so so nice and friendly. After spending a great afternoon at Leinenkugels, we came by for a late lunch and were seated right away which was such a relief. There are quite a few tables available. We were seated at a 2 person table but as a I gazed around, the 4 person tables were basically the same table with 2 extra chairs around it. If you're coming with a bigger group, You might need to ask for more elbow room! I ordered the regular margarita - delicious, refreshing, and exactly what you want with tacos. It was strong so careful if you're driving (especially if you just had a bunch of beers at leinenkugels!) We started with the calamari appetizer which I would highly recommend! Crisp, great dipping sauce, and generous portion for 2. I went with the fish tacos with the blackened mahi mahi. The tacos arrived with two huge pieces of fish in. The entree wasn't heavy, flavors wonderful, and the tacos stayed together. I absolutely hate when you bite into a taco and it is instantly destroyed and you're stuck picking at it with your fork. My friend have the Max burrito with steak. He enjoyed it but only managed to get halfway through so he took the other half for dinner. They do offer complimentary chips and salsa after you order. The chips were warm and not overly salty. The salsa was not spicy (my personal preference) but still very good. Service was very good and we were able to get in and out pretty quickly. We stopped here on the way back from a (COVID appropriate) Easter with friends in WI. First time in the charming downtown of Chippewa Falls. We loved it. Friendly, safe, and cute. The food was quite good. I ordered a burrito. The red mole sauce was nice though not particularly spicy. Good quality ingredients and a great price. $10 and I will have at least two more leftover meals. My partner enjoyed the Fat Fish Tacos. The wine list was quite good. No beers on tap but many available, not all Leinies! I know this is small city Wisconsin but I still have to drop a star for styrofoam to-go box. read more

Guacamole to start was pretty good. Salsa was excellent. Opted for Street Tacos for lunch. I was disappointed that you can only choose 1 meat so I chose the carnitas. Good as good but the service and vice made it complete. Ellie and Sarah were awesome servers and lots of fun to have a conversation with while having my lunch. Appetizer of Queso Fundito with chorizo was amazing. Good chips. The salsa was fresh and tasty. I had the Seafood 'Buzo' fajitas. Oh my gosh!!! One of the best dishes I've ever had. We are so glad we decided to go to Max's. We now wish it was two hours closer to us and in the twin cities. Every bite was delicious, service was excellent and the drinks were refreshing. Wonderful food and atmosphere. Special hidden gem in Chippewa Falls- this place could easily rival a big city restaurant. I had the blackened swordfish which was one the best seafood entrees I've ever had. My husband had the Mexican burger which was also very good and not too spicy for him. While driving through town, we found Max's. The atmosphere is definitely different in this place. It is very clean and very updated. The food is also very good! It is a little bit more on the expensive side. You get a lot of food for what you pay for. The wait staff was the only reason why they did not get five stars!
