Came here for dinner on Saturday night and it was busy. Staff were nice as soon as we entered the building. We made a reservation and I'm glad we did as almost every table was full. We started out by ordering the queso, guacamole and calamari for appetizers. All 3 were very good! I order a skinny margarita to start with and it was good but came in a small glass. I wish it came in a tall glass just like the regular margarita did. The regular margarita was very good as well. You have the option of salt or tajin on the rim. I special ordered the sprimp fajitas as they didn't just have shrimp as an option. Thankfully they were still able to accommodate my request because the fajitas were delicious!! You get rice and beans on the side & an option of guac or sour cream as a topping. You also get a choice of flour or corn tortillas. You definitely get your bang for your buck with this entree. The chef use to be the same chef as Manny's in Eau Claire so all the food was delicious. They have to many fresh seafood options which I loved. Overall I'd definitely come back!! read more

This is a small restaurant in downtown C.F. featuring southwestern/mexican food. They are big ceviche is really fresh and delicious with shrimp and scallops in a citrusy marinade. The tacos were very good as was the enchiladas. The margaritas were below average in our opinion. Go for the food and maybe a specialty cocktail. read more

Went to Max's for an early Saturday dinner while celebrating special events. Seated immediately and the setting/vibe is very nice. Nicely decorated, wood floors, tin ceiling. Friendly capable service from bartender/host/wait staff. We did not feel rushed which was great. I had the jalapeño margarita and it was great. Our water glasses were kept filled and dishes removed promptly from table when we were done with them. The chips and salsa were good and replenished when we requested. The cheese dip was disappointing. Lacked flavor. We did not get the chorizo in it as someone in our group was vegetarian. Maybe chorizo would have helped give it needed flavor? Entrees included buzo tacos with blackened mahi, vegetarian fajitas and swordfish with vegetables. Everything was tasty and filling. I thought the beans with my tacos were just ok. My husband loved the swordfish. After he placed his order for it, the server told him the price in menu was inaccurate due to market price. $4 more than what was on the menu. Best practice would be to have accurate price in the menu OR indicate it is market price (as was the case for the lobster entrees). Just providing constructive criticism. Overall, a fine place to dine. I will come again. read more

First time customer. The service was attentive and there are seafood choices, expensive, burgers and Mexican fare. After having chips and salsa, salsa being very bland, and requesting hotter sauce which they did not have, I settled on blue cheese burger and fries. Good quality burger. Nothing special about it. It was a safe choice. Beer reasonably priced. Had one too. read more

Downtown Chippewa Falls after 2 pm, it is difficult to find a place for quick bite. My coworker and I tried to find a place for sandwich, somehow ended up at Max's since all the stores were closed at 2 pm. I ordered Buzo Taco with grilled red snappers. It was great! My friend had Ahi Tuna Burger and it was great, especially the fries were awesome! read more

We were in the back room for a party of ten. Our server did an amazing job at keeping up with all of us, whether it was concerning food or drinks. I can't list off what everyone had, but I know what a few of us had: Pina Colada Halibut, Blackened Scallop Linguine, Tropical Mahi Mahi, Vallarta Shrimp and Chicken Chimichanga. We all really enjoyed our food and had a great experience overall!!! read more

Exquisite seafood...what? in Chippewa Falls? Disguised as a Mexican restaurant? YES x3! I tried the Fish Burrito (made to order with snapper)-it was spicy and fresh fish! I couldn't figure out which cheese side I LOVED better (they were both spicy and wonderful). That was nothing compared to the Blackened Ahi! The service was excellent and the restaurant peaceful (the whole vibe was a positive experience!). read more

Nice space. Mostly seafood options on the menu, plus some steaks and street tacos. The piña colada halibut that was the special of the night. It was good. I have the classic margarita for seven dollars which is also very good. I had the calamari app which was very good. My wife has the pork Carnitas street tacos what she thought we're just OK. We got a side of guacamole for the chips and salsa. we went on a Wednesday night and were seated immediately. read more

This is one of those places that is certainly more than it looks, perhaps not as great as it could be but still very enjoyable. Everything was cooked well save for the two deep fried items that gave off a fryer oil needs changing flavor and greasiness. So can't the calamari but the seafood burrito and grilled Mahi Mahi were really good. read more

This place is great if you are a foodie...they have lots of different dishes that you can't find anywhere else.

There wasn't one person in the restaurant when we walked in and no one came in while we were there. That should have been a good indication that we should eat elsewhere. The food was terrible. I don't even know what else to say, the food was just bad. That being said, the service was fantastic. The waitress so so nice and friendly. Top notch service, I feel bad that they have to serve that food. The restaurant itself was cute, a little boring but fine. However.....the food. I would love to meet with the chef to fix that menu. Holy cow. read more

Such a wonderful experience ~ I hosted a birthday dinner for 10 at Max's and I can't say enough about how excellent the service was. From when I called to make the reservation, to helping pre-arrange food and cake, through dinner service, all was wonderful. Our server, Ariel, was warm, communicative, and took good care of our guests. We had such a wonderful time and will definitely be back! read more

After spending a great afternoon at Leinenkugels, we came by for a late lunch and were seated right away which was such a relief. There are quite a few tables available. We were seated at a 2 person table but as a I gazed around, the 4 person tables were basically the same table with 2 extra chairs around it. If you're coming with a bigger group, You might need to ask for more elbow room! I ordered the regular margarita - delicious, refreshing, and exactly what you want with tacos. It was strong so careful if you're driving (especially if you just had a bunch of beers at leinenkugels!) We started with the calamari appetizer which I would highly recommend! Crisp, great dipping sauce, and generous portion for 2. I went with the fish tacos with the blackened mahi mahi. The tacos arrived with two huge pieces of fish in. The entree wasn't heavy, flavors wonderful, and the tacos stayed together. I absolutely hate when you bite into a taco and it is instantly destroyed and you're stuck picking at it with your fork. My friend have the Max burrito with steak. He enjoyed it but only managed to get halfway through so he took the other half for dinner. They do offer complimentary chips and salsa after you order. The chips were warm and not overly salty. The salsa was not spicy (my personal preference) but still very good. Service was very good and we were able to get in and out pretty quickly. Street parking available - just pay attention to signs. read more

We stopped here on the way back from a (COVID appropriate) Easter with friends in WI. First time in the charming downtown of Chippewa Falls. We loved it. Friendly, safe, and cute. The food was quite good. I ordered a burrito. The red mole sauce was nice though not particularly spicy. Good quality ingredients and a great price. $10 and I will have at least two more leftover meals. My partner enjoyed the Fat Fish Tacos. The wine list was quite good. No beers on tap but many available, not all Leinies! I know this is small city Wisconsin but I still have to drop a star for styrofoam to-go box. read more

This is a quiet little bistro with friendly service and amazing food. I had the Buzo tacos with grilled red snapper and it was fantastic. The chips are homemade and fresh. Guacamole to start was pretty good. Salsa was excellent. Opted for Street Tacos for lunch. I was disappointed that you can only choose 1 meat so I chose the carnitas. I will definitely be back when I'm in town again. Definitely a great place to have a nice dining experience. read more

I would give this place triple the stars if I could! Here on vacation and found this place on Yelp. Nice, cozy atmosphere. Our waitress was prompt and sweet. Appetizer of Queso Fundito with chorizo was amazing. Good chips. The salsa was fresh and tasty. I had the Seafood 'Buzo' fajitas. Oh my gosh!!! One of the best dishes I've ever had. All items were so fresh and spiced just right. It's a large portion. Presentation was amazing. Hubby had the Fat Fish Burrito with mahi mahi...get the carrot habanero sauce...absolutely delish! We got the Flan for desert. Superb. Again, presentation was nice with the chocolate drizzle. read more

We are so glad we decided to go to Max's. We now wish it was two hours closer to us and in the twin cities. Every bite was delicious, service was excellent and the drinks were refreshing. We didn't do dessert as we were stuffed. Rachel was tending bar and serving us (as we sat at the table in the window) as well as I believe the daughter of the owner, they were both very attentive and gave great recommendations. We will definitely be back! read more

Wonderful food and atmosphere. Special hidden gem in Chippewa Falls- this place could easily rival a big city restaurant. I had the blackened swordfish which was one the best seafood entrees I've ever had. My husband had the Mexican burger which was also very good and not too spicy for him. Fries were also amazing- tasted much better than most other places. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

Was in the area for the weekend and decided to stop here for dinner on our first night. Seemed like the menu had Hispanic influence, seafood and steak menus. I had lobster burrito, something I've never had, and my wife had fish tacos. Both were fantastic. Kids had tacos from the kids menu. Nice little place and had a little bar near the front, perfect for date night drinks. Service was great as well. read more
