Bon tons. A little bit spicy...delish!

Decent beer tap selection. The Sunday brunch is pretty good. Want an amazing appetizer? The Bon tons! Chicken in a won ton. A little spicy too. During happy hour apps are half price! The Italian nachos are unique and delicious. Great thin crust pizza.

This is a strange pizza joint, as one side is a bar and one side is a family-style dining room, with kids arcade games. Gangsta rap was blaring on the speakers for my 1 and 4 year old the entire time for lunch on a Saturday... See my pics for reference: The menu has pizza (crust was burnt, and the chicken didn't taste fresh), but also a lot of other things (salads, sandwiches, kids menu, burgers, dessert). The kids mac n cheese was a weird combo between fake and real cheese, yet tasted oddly delicious. The food was okay, and would probably go back, due to the proximity to the children's museum. A bit pricey, but things like "free drink and ice cream with kids meals " sort of makes up for it. It just needs to decide if it is a family joint or a bar, so the other group isn't offended/put-out.

I love this place. I'm only giving a 4 out of 5 because the service is spotty. I've had wonderful servers, but there's a server who usually works the bar and I'm just amazed that she still has a job. She's come to our table for drink orders and then never come back and we had to find another server. We've called in carry-out pizza orders and she's taken the order, gone in to get it and realized when we got home that we were missing toppings (we usually get 4-5 and were missing 2). Every time we have her, there is some kind of problem. Other waitstaff is pretty good, generally my only complaint is they're pretty lax about refilling drinks and bringing the check. We love the food though. It can be a little busy with kids in there, but we love the Sunday Buffet. There's a large variety, people with food restrictions can find things they can eat. The French toast is great. And even though I don't eat omelets when I'm there, the guy making French toast and omelets (he's like... always there) always manages to say hi and make small talk.

    German deep dish!! Super good!
    Nick B.

Great Pizza! We ordered the German pizza with deep dish crust. It was amazing with mozzarella, sausage and sour krout. Sounds gross but it was awesome. It was our first time there so the nice waiter told us about the pizza that a lot of people ordered! We used the buy $20 and get $25 deal so we saved which was nice and went during happy hour for $2 spotted cows on tap!

Been waiting an hour for them to restock....

The food used to be so good. What happened to this place? It is so filthy and the food is inedible.

A little less than average. The pizza was greasy and bland. The staff was helpful. Overall, meh.

Fun little bar and with decent food. I frequent when in town as a more economical choice to the hotel for drinks.

Kinda dirty. Burgers were ok.. but not worth $10+. Cheese curds are either cool and solid in the middle or over done and empty.

Doesn't get anymore 80s pizza joint than this place! Food is okay. A solid 3.5-4 stars.

Then when the host noticed I was there she was very apologetic but instead of helping me to get my pizza, she made me wait so she could help someone order over the phone. Last I checked when someone calls, you ask them to hold until you help the people actually in the store. I waited almost 15 minutes just to pick up a pizza. There's a couple tables inside with a bar but the vibe is not there. I definitely would not eat in store as there were 2 parties eating inside but they both seemed to not be having a great time. The pizza was good but the crust was falling apart. It seemed like whoever made it was their first time making a pizza. The thin cheese sticks were very good. Overall I'd give this place an average score.

However, the wait was painful (almost 45 min). The pizzas were presented to us and they asked about plates and other condiments for the pizza. We were all very hungry and got back to the group, but the pizzas did not taste good. They weren't bad, but not great. Just "meh", disappointing for the cost and the wait time. While we waited we observed that the ventilation wasn't the best and the pizza makers didn't appear to be enjoying themselves. Anyway, took off one star due to long order to presentation time, one more star due to the pizza only being so-so (at best) and one star removed for the overall experience. I can't talk to the other food or beverages, but I did leave two stars as the gentlemen that took our order was really good and the ambiance was ok. Bottom Line: With all of the pizza places in Eau Claire, I would recommend another place.

Service 5/5: we did not make a reservation, but staff did everything to accommodate us and get us seated. I really appreciate how kind they were and once we were seated, our server was attentive, making sure our drinks were always filled and that we were enjoying our meal. Ambiance 5/5: stunning environment. I highly recommend you take a peek and look at the bar because it's a bunch of little pennies and it is the coolest sight to see (I believe I heard them call it the penny bar too). I really enjoy that you could see into the kitchen while the chefs worked and how fluid they all seemed to be in their craft. Food 3/5: I was really disappointed by the food. I ordered the roasted lamb as a big fan of lamb and it was overcooked and very salty. Also, the mint gelée coupled with the root beer glacé de viande was overwhelmingly sweet. The dish was lacking a balance of acid and spice. My fiancé ordered the tater tot hot dish and I am thankful that he ordered that because we ended up sharing that the rest of the meal. Even he could not eat the Lamb and he is must less picky about flavor profiles. The hotdish was a cheesy parmesan dream with sweet corn, peas, mushrooms and I liked the textural mixture of pork and veal. Overall, I'm not sure if I would come back for a meal here. I have seen that their pizzas are really popular because they are woodfired and I wish we would've checked that first, but I wanted a cozy elevated dinner and I'm still really bummed that we did not get that.

It happened to be a very busy weekend, and the Informalist was one of the few places that did not have a long line to get seated. Got in right away and seated for some brunch. The restaurant is spacious and well designed. It's a bit upscale, but perfectly capable of making people feel relaxed and welcome. We got greeted right away by the server and settled in with menus and waters. Our order wasn't complicated: some of the Custard Battered French Toast, a short stack of pancakes, and two eggs. I also ordered a London Fog Tea Latte (a little lavender, a little vanilla, and extra foam). It didn't take long for the food to come, but the London Fog took a while longer. The French Toast was amazingly good, and the pancakes and eggs were also very good. I was half done with my meal by the time my London Fog arrived, and the server was very apologetic (saying that the coffee shop was very busy). I might have been satisfied with that, but the London Fog was just okay. While there was some extra foam, the drink itself was flat, as if they just heated up the milk and mixed it with the tea. (They need to do a better job with polishing the steamed milk so that it creates a creamy texture, especially if they ar charging $8) Overall, a good experience, and a few tweaks would have made it excellent. Would stop again if I was in the mood for the French Toast.
