We stopped in here for a quick bite to eat on our way to AZ recently. It is a refreshing change from all of the other eateries at the very busy Lenwood exit near Barstow. Before Panera, there was Del Taco and In-n-out, and a handful of chain type Chilis, Dennys, Panda, etc. It is a little bit pricey, so $28.00 for two half sandwiches and soup with soft drinks isn't exactly the extra value meal, but it is freshly prepared, and not "fast food". I will definitely stop in here again. The turkey, bacon and avocado sandwich and Tomato soup really hit the spot, and my husband enjoyed his steak and asiago sandwich. read more

This is an overall very mediocre Panera Bread as far as food goes. Everything we ordered was just fine. The Grilled Cheese wasn't great though. The Ten Vegetable Soup was very good. Probably the most disappointed one. The atmosphere was fine, clean and not dirty. read more

This is the perfect spot for a Panera. This is my go to location when I'm driving from Vegas to LA and want something a little less greasy. They have a drive through which is super convenient when you don't want to take a lot of time. The staff is very friendly and polite. My favorite order is the strawberry poppyseed salad! We are pretty loyal Payton's to Panera. We enjoy the oatmeal and a bagel before a run, or whatever else we have going on. Blame it on the pandemic, or just piss poor management but Panera has gone downhill. Corporately, poor decisions in food selections, I mean god rid of the sierra turkey sandwich?! A wet egg breakfast sandwich?! I'll digress. This location in Barstow seems to just slide by. Today we were served iced cold oatmeal, and when we returned (mind you turning around on the freeway and driving 10 minutes back) the girl at the front counter was nothing but rude. Almost as if it was our fault including eye rolls. Never apologizing, never even giving us the time of day. Hell, I would have taken an "f u!" Just to get some type of response other then completely condescending. The girl in the back making the food, she came out, apologized and even gave us a cookie. We weren't expecting anything, just our food made correctly. I wish I had her name, because she deserves to be running the show. She is an all star. We always go to this Panera on our way to AZ. It was 10:27 when we arrived. The woman in front of us was taking awhile ordering as it's always confusing ordering as well as the cashier taking the order. We wanted breakfast and we saw them starting to change over to the lunch menu and I asked if we could please order breakfast. The cashier said yes, but the manager ( or whoever she was) said with a cold expression, no breakfast was over. We were the only other person in line and if the order in front us was efficiently taken, we would have made it by 10:30. It was 10:33 and this so called employee said no more breakfast. I would want to know that information if I owned this franchise. We won't be coming here first choice again. I'll look to the other more accommodating restaurants in Barstow. read more

This is the worst Panera location I've ever been to. I tried it on my way to Los Angeles. It is not an expensive joint, the prices are pretty good, but it is not clean enough. Floors and the windows were dirty, the table area was dirty too. They use tablets for ordering (it is not convenient for everyone), or you have to deal with their very bored hostess at the counter. Service was slow. It took about 45 minutes after ordering to get my food. the food was tasteless and unappetizing. Will not be back to this Panera Bread a second time. Bad experience... read more

I am a fan of Panera Bread, but NOT this location. Upon arrival, Ashely took our order. As a vegetarian, I asked if the "vegetarian friendly" options are good and she just said "I don't know, I've never tried it" W/ a smug tone in her voice. Listen, I get it... Not everyone is a vegetarian, but it's still customer service ESP when working the register. SO BE POLITE AND SMILE. As my boyfriend and I find a seat, it got even more disappointing. The table was sticky and not wiped down well and to top it off, our order took 35 minutes to get! I had to get up to speak to the manager and ask what the hold up was and all she said was "I'm so sorry, but it's a little crazy right now." I then saw the screen with everyone's order and I wasn't the only one that has waited that long. To the manager here's a little tip: when it's "crazy" in the kitchen, try helping them make the food, instead of standing there w/ 2 food runners pretending to expedite the food... Cos there was no food to be expedited! Anyway, after about 40 mins we finally got our food... And as icing on the cake with our experience, they get my order WRONG. So of course I complain again and they tried to give me a pastry to fix things. Umm no thanks. If I wanted a pastry, I would've ordered a pastry. When they FINALLY got my order right, it was still hard enjoy our meal listening to the countless complaints of the dragging service. We even saw a lady ask for a refund and left. My chicken soba noodle soup was not good, disgusting, and unappetizing. My chicken in the soup tasted like peaches. My sister got a chicken Caesar salad and she said it was just okay. It's not that hard to make caesar salad. She said the chicken wasn't seasoned for the salad, and they barely gave her dressing. my baguette was stale. Also they gave me my baguette with no butter. Who gives a baguette with no butter? The lady at the front counter recommended the Tuscan chicken sandwich for my sister but she said it honestly was just average. Don't bother stopping here. It's a joke. I stopped here with the family on the way to vegas. Upon arriving we were told they had no bread, sandwiches pasta. Basically their whole menu was unavailable. They were not apologetic at all and told us it was due to traffic and had been like that for TWO WEEKS!!!!!! OMG! My mom and I ordered salads and the bf had a two day old blueberry bagel. My mom's salad was wrong and was missing the chicken even though they charged us for it. They brought some chicken out to us. The salads were ok, but not very fresh. The amenities here along with the condition of the tables and floors was disgusting. I took pictures and honestly believe the manager must not care at all. The bathroom had two stalls out of order and no seat covers. An employee came in while I was in one stall and had to ask her other employee who came in with her to hand her toilet paper under the door! , The final straw was when my boyfriend tried to get a refill on his coffee and they told us they weren't sure if they could make another pot. They would have to "check", but maybe they could try. Maybe?! This location is a disgrace to the Panera name and should be shut down. I will be writing the company as will my mom. It's been awhile since I've visited a Panera, and with all the fast food choices in Barstow, I decided to eat healthy and light. I'm so glad I did! I ordered the "Buy Two" option, Fuji Apple Salad and the half Turkey Cheddar Apple sandwich. The sandwich is now my new favorite, surpassing the Napa chicken salad sandwich. The bread is cranberry walnut, which pairs wonderfully with the contents. Service was good and timely, although I had to request extra salad dressing twice. I will be back! read more

This is a plain old Panera Bread that's super-EXPENSIVE simply because of its location. No free Tiffany's necklace with your purchase here, although you'll swear you were charged for one. There are other alternatives for food here but not sure which ones will gouge you less. We had the pick 2 / Cuban sandwich and ceaser salad also Chipotle chicken avacado. Ceaser salad was mostly lettuce core barely any dressing no parmigiano. Cuban sandwich no flavor mostly mustard and some strange pickle could not taste pork at all as there was not much there. These sandwiches are 4 inch and not much to them. $25 no way worth it so many other places to go when at the Barstow outlets. We walked in our way back from Having, and there were only three people in line, so we expected an easy lunch. After 30 minutes of waiting i asked how much longer until our food would be out and I was told that food times were at right about 45 minutes! After complaining to the manager (45 minutes is unacceptable at any restaurant, let alone one that is serving me an uncooked lunch of salads and pre-made soups) he informed me that they had been instructed by upper management to not disclose wait times even when they are obviously excessive. The food was not bad at all. The only food with the food was it was missing the protein. Steak panini barley had any met and the chicken had more tomatoes then meat. I order a regular green tea for 2.89 and it was all ice. I took two sips and it was done. I was still in the drive thru and ask the server if he could refill for me and he said he would have to charge me. I should my cup and complained and then he filled it. read more

Kinda disappointed. I got a half salad but since the romaine lettuce is bad I had to get a different kind so I got a mix between spinach and kale. When I saw the salad I asked one of the ladies that worked there if I could get a little more and she rudely said it's pre portioned. I think that if I am paying almost $7 for a salad I want it to fill me up. The Panera by my house actually gives you what you pay for, it wouldn't have hurt to give me a few more pieces of lettuce instead of being rude and blowing me off with that response. read more

I'm definitely a fan of this place, and it all depends what I get. This go around, I ordered their BBQ chicken flat bread. So when I hear flat bread, I immediately think, pizza. A small rectangle, pizza version. My flat bread BBQ pizza when I ate it, felt like I was eating a quesadilla/over sized soft taco. I wasn't too impressed with this. The Mac n' Cheese was very cheesy. For me it was just ok. For I think it was $1.00 more I could add a pastry. The best choice I've ever made. I wasn't sure what to get so I went with the Blueberry Muffin. The food was ok. The corn chowder was mostly water, which was very disappointing. DH had a breakfast sandwich and didn't think it was much better than McDonald's. The service was pretty good. The front gal was pleasant and knowledgeable. The problems came at the end. The bathroom stalls didn't have any toilet paper and some of the drink stations were out of napkins. I waited for either the front gal to finish with her customer or who I assume was the manager to get off the phone for at least 5 minutes, but to no avail. It wasn't busy....at all. read more

We stopped by this Panera as a quick stop between LA and Vegas, and thought it was great. Convenient location. It's right off Highway 15, so very convenient. If going east, you exit the highway and go straight through the light (don't turn right). It will be the 2nd or 3rd turn in on right. They have the option for drive thru or walking in. High tech options. I've been to a variety of Panera restaurants in multiple states, but have never been to such a high tech one. You could order through kiosks and pick up, or order traditionally at the counter. We ordered from the counter and then got it to go, and within the to go waiting spot (basically a bench), there was a screen with your name to let you know where your order stood in line. (Very convenient) Usual great food. They then had the usual great food that you expect from a Panera. I'm vegetarian and love their Mediterranean Veggie sandwich (sweeter bread, tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, feta, sauce). Service. Though we didn't interact too much with the staff, all were pleasant. Clean restrooms and tables. The restrooms were very clean (which I always appreciate!) and the seating areas all felt clean as well. read more

Worst experience at a Panera ever!!! Ordered the Greek Goddess salad with chicken. Not only did I get charged more than the menu board said, but when my salad arrived and I bit into the first chunk of chicken, I realized it wasn't a "chunk"...it was slices of chicken frozen together. I dug thru my salad and realized the rest of the chicken in my salad was also frozen. I showed one of the employees who was delivering food and she said she would show her manager and bring me a new salad. When my 2nd salad arrived, the employee who delivered it told me that if I want the chicken warm next time, I could order it that way. I told her I didn't want the chicken warm, but that I also didn't want it frozen. She looked annoyed and walked away. No "Sorry your chicken was frozen" or an apology from the manager or anything. Quite disappointed with this location whether you're driving to Cali or from Cali. For starters the machines you can order from instead of waiting in line, more than half of them weren't even working. Soup selection was very limited. For the choices of soup they only had Mac and cheese (I have no clue why that's considered a soup), cheddar and broccoli, and tomato. Considering I was driving back from Cali I decided to get it for takeout. Once I submitted my order from the kiosk I went to use the restroom and the restroom was completely nasty, almost as if no one cleaned it for over half a year. There was a bad stench, dirty floor, and dirty walls. Once I came back out I waited for my order as they place your to-go order in alphabetical order of your last name on a shelf. So I waited and waited until I had to ask one of the workers if my food was almost done. I was told to go back and my food would come out shortly and placed on the shelf. I go back and still see the same bag and so I take a peek of my receipt and the name on the the receipt of the bag. I basically wasted about 20 minutes for half a sandwich and half cup of Mac and cheese as they just left my order sitting out there. Pre ordered our breakfast online for the first time. The wait before our food was brought to our table took about 20 minutes. A man in a maroon uniform, whom we assumed was the manager delivered our order. When I ordered the bagel, I didn't see the option toasted and cream cheese. So when I asked for cream cheese, he, rudely told me that it was extra and I should have ordered it. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! He made me feel like his time is more important than his customer. This person should not be working in a place like this if he treats customers like he treated me. Very bad image for any business that deals with customer service. Stopped by during my lunch after a long busy morning. Food was great, tasted fresh and delicious. What made my day, however, was there great customer service! From the cashier to the lady who brought my food, to the table to the person helping clean up, it was exceptional! Everyone had a smile and was very polite.
