This store got 2 stars because Brennan is a kind and sweet cashier and his service helped recover the mgr's poor service. But it should get 0 stars because the Mgr wanted to challenge me for using my "free pick 2 for 2" coupon. The issue is that the coupon expires in 2020 however the store that gave it to me on Ygnacio (for being 1 of their very 1st customers) said "due to the covid requirement in 2020 to shelter in place", the Panera's would honor it until we used it up, and there was no expiration date. I have few problems using the P2 for 2 in Clayton on Ygnacio, no problems in Concord near Benihana's, and no problems in Antioch (near Maya Theaters), but here in Brentwood/Antioch, I have to be treated like I am lying or up to something. And then,, when they finally conceded, they told me I could onmy use 1 coupon for myself and nothing for my daughter??? I protested that and they "allowed me to order for my daughter" eventually but I detest businesses that are so greedy, trying everything to avoid giving an advertised discount, and trying to question why you did not use a coupon when you were stuck at home with kids suddenly for a govt shelter in place order. It's tacky and gives me a bad taste for not onky this establishment but the city as a whole as I find that many of my experiences in this city are with people who act like this. This is my favorite Panera! So many great employees and friendly faces love em! I just tried the toasted Tuscan grilled chicken sandwich and it is soooo good. My only complaint is sometimes they forget your sides when you have a to go order so check before you go but they're usually on top of it. read more

I don't get it. I guess I should have known to grab a paper menu on the way in? The contents of the sandwiches are not listed on the menu, just the title. So, I ordered the veggie. I have had numerous vegetarian sandwiches over the years, from local delis, chains, etc. It's a safe bet that I will like it. It was so loud that I couldn't hear what the guy at the register was asking me. All I really heard was bread..and he was looking for an answer, so I said: "Yes." I like my sandwiches on bread. My husband ordered a ham & swiss on dark rye. They do not have dark rye. This is a bread store, right? There was a line for water. There were little to no tables open and the ones that were empty, were filthy. We finally secured a spot in the middle of the room. An obnoxious lady next to us began watching a movie preview on her phone, with the sound level on high. Free wifi can be a curse, because some people are self-centered and mostly oblivious. When she was done with her movie preview, she called someone and put them on speaker phone..for a lengthy conversation. Seriously? One of the workers showed up and wiped off a table, so we quickly moved across the room - far away from Ms. I'mmoreimportantthananyoneelse. Our sandwiches were delivered quickly. I thought that things may be looking up, then I looked down. Apparently, when the guy behind the register was spewing out jibberish, he was asking me what side I wanted. Not a bad place at all. Be prepared for two things: This place is always packed. The registers aren't always the fastest. Quality of food is great, I always enjoy their fresh choices. Personally I like the "you pick 2" and their chai tea is delicious! Sometimes the staff isn't the most professional. For example I pulled up once, walked up and there was a handwritten sign saying they were closed early due to a new product release. Now that I can believe, what I couldn't believe was the eight or so employees standing in front of the store watching another employee attempting to skate off the curb, unsuccessfully. They could have at least told me they were "closed" instead of allowing me to walk up. Goofing off- just was somewhat disappointing to see. Panera is a great place to come in for breakfast, brunch or lunch. The number one thing that draws me in is the fresh bread made daily and the pastries look just as good as they taste. After our morning gym session we decided that we earned a delicious breakfast and headed down to Slatten Ranch. At first we did try to go into Lumpys diner but it was packed and had a line out the door. In all honesty, we didn't want to wait long and walked down to Panera where their was no line. At first we admired the pastries and each chose one we wanted. When we got in line to order we were let down and told that they stopped serving breakfast at 11am and its was already noon. That alone was disappointing since we had already chose something off the breakfast menu and their was no indication that it ended at 11am. SIDE NOTE: come in early for breakfast and bagels. They were out of a lot of them when we stopped in. After the let down we settled the on the Steak and White Cheddar panini, cinnamon roll pastry, French croissant, and a Carmel latte. Steak and cheddar panini was great! Perfect balance of sautéed onions, cheese and plenty of meat. It does come with horseradish so if you aren't a fan tell them to remove it. Pastries were delicious, take your time picking out the one you want when you come in. You won't be disappointed. Latte was alright and I wish I'd gone to an actual coffee shop instead but if you need the coffee go ahead and grab it. They do have different flavors available. Any ways we had a lovely time and enjoyed the warm fireplace burning inside, comfy chairs and plenty of tables and seats available. read more

Worst Panera Bread location. Placed an order and waited over 30 minutes past the estimated time. Someone said to check on the order for us and never came back. All the workers there were busy chatting about online dating with some guy named "Big Daddy" and no one wanted to help. Finally another person offered to help and told us they couldn't find our order. We showed the order on our app but they refused to make it because they didn't see the order on their end. They insisted we ordered at the wrong location but they got our other order. The app doesn't provide any additional info so we we had no choice but to leave without our order and now need to dispute the charge with our credit card company. read more

I just love their Broccoli Cheddar soup and now love their Sierra Turkey Sandwich which smoked turkey with chipotle mayo, greens, red onions and Asiago Focaccia bread. (I got the half sandwich light mayo minus the onions and soup) The turkey was tasty, crispy greens and the bread was great! slightly crispy on the outside and super soft inside.... Mmmm... I didn't expect the bag of chips but it was nice, they were very good, not too salty as potato chips usually are. The portion was perfect. I've sampled a couple of their other soups before and they were good as well. The staff was friendly from the cashier, to the "makers" to the bus people... the wait was nearly non-existant and it was 12:30 in the afternoon! The place looks very clean also. I think the menu and food ideas of Panera are healthy and appealing. I live in the area and have tried this particular Panera several times. Something always goes wrong. They run out of food, they mix up my order, or there is poor customer service. Although, this morning a very nice young lady provided polite and courteous service at the counter. However, the wait for oatmeal and yogurt was pretty long (10-15 minutes). When the order came up, no yogurt. It took another 5 minutes to get the yogurt. However, the biggest problem with this restaurant, is that it is not clean. If you go in first thing in the morning, your feet shouldn't stick to the floors. The counters shouldn't be dirty. I'm not sure if it's more staff they need, better management, or training. I suspect training and accountability are what is needed. But something certainly needs to change. A couple of months from now, I'll probably try again. I am hopeful they will get things straightened out at this store. read more

I just ordered online Panera for lunch today unbeknownst to me it goes to DoorDash I work for a high school the delivery was instructed to go to a certain office the driver called to tell me he was here I couldn't understand a word he said he did not speak very good English sounded like he had marbles in his mouth. somehow he decided to go to another area of the school and gave my lunch to a student who had no identification on him. I went to Panera and told them the situation they said couldn't do a thing for me, that I have to handle it through DoorDash. because I didn't order it through DoorDash originally the order is not on my phone so I can't make an inquiry about that order. I've been visiting Panera Bread on different occasions because they provide great service when I do come in. Usually its rare for me to get food from here, and I would just order a hot beverage and just chill in my corner and do my work. The store is very clean and the employees are very helpful if they were to pass out some tasty bread or some kind of pastry. I should recommend you the apple salad because it is very tasty and its refreshing. It's a great place to have your brunch if not a good place to do your work or homework and study place. I really want to like this place. I really do. But every time I go to Panera something happens that makes me not want to come back. I have a feeling this chain may not survive the next few years if they don't make some changes to their business model. Years ago, I got violent food poisoning from eating at a Panera in Hayward and I spent years away from this restaurant until fairly recently. I've been to the Antioch (Slatten Ranch) location a few times and each time there has been something that has gone wrong or rubbed me the wrong way about my experience there. The first time I took my wife here and she mentioned that the Caesar salad tasted a little off and she felt a little sick afterwards. We decided to give the place another chance a few weeks later and just not order salad. Everything started off alright. We ordered at the self-serve kiosks around 8:30 PM. As soon as we were done ordering, we noticed that there was a table available by the fireplace, but it needed to be cleared off. Actually, many of the tables needed a good cleaning, but nobody was tending to them. I tracked down one of the available staff members and then she tried to find someone else to clean it off (even though she had nothing else to do) and finally, someone came and cleaned my table. Then we waited, and waited more, for our food. Finally, around 8:55 PM, one of the managers came to our table and told us that she was going to pack up our food and we would have to take our order to go. ARE YOU FOR REAL??? In all of my years eating out, I have never experienced this type of treatment. You cannot kick your paying customers out of the restaurant, especially if we ordered a half hour before closing! My wife and I were upset, but I was too hungry to get into an argument, so we waited as the lady packed up our food (and forgot to include bread!) and then offered us a free dessert as a form of compensation. She kicked out all of the paying customers who were seated eating their food so they could close up shop. My wife and I sat outside in the freezing cold while the girls cleaned up inside. We were out there for nearly an hour and they were cleaning up the whole time. There was absolutely no reason why they could not have just let us sit there and finish eating our food. This was just a case of selfish employees putting their own needs ahead of the paying customers'. Umm...do you know who pays the bills so that you can have a job there??? We do! I called Panera Corporate and they gave me a free entree for the trouble. When we arrive another day to redeem our free entree, ALL of their self-service kiosks were down so we had to wait in a long line of customers in which there was only one cashier. The restaurant was filthy as usual and a peek into the kitchen area showed that it wasn't that clean either. The employees here can be very "click-ish" depending on what time you go at. All things considered, the food is usually OK, although a bit on the pricey side and definitely not worth what you pay for it. And while I appreciate the chain's efforts to clean up their food and source healthier ingredients, they need to re-focus their efforts on improving customer service and more important, cleanliness. All it takes is something like what happened at Chipotle years ago for a chain restaurant to lose a lot of business and I feel that Panera might be next if they don't clean up their act. Let me start by saying I love the food at Panera Bread. But I just ordered a cup of soup ($7.49) which was received barely warmed. I asked to have it heated and was told to go to the coffee station and use the microwave!!! If I wanted to warm my own soup, I would have eaten at home. RUDE !!!!! Well this was a first (unfortunately). I went in to this Panera today just before 5:00 to get a particular bagel I like (which I've done on many previous occasions). There was only one left of that kind in the rack and so I said I'd like that Bagel there, BUT the girl behind the counter was rude and instead of serving me the bagel as I had asked she instead said "That Bagel has already been sold" (did I mention the bagel in question was still sitting in the rack on the shelf along with all the others??) and I said sold to who and she said I'm sorry sir then she proceeded to pick it up and bring it over into the employees only area (apparently she wanted it for herself). THIS IS INEXCUSABLY RUDE. I hope the manager of this Panera pays attention to this - the short hispanc looking girl who pulled this crap on me basically just spat in the face of Panera & the whole concept of customer service by taking it for herself instead of selling it to me when I was going to pay for it and it was still up on the shelf. Perhaps this is her first ever job and she doesn't know any better but that's all the more reason why management should look at this and either retrain her on the definition of customer service or better still reassign her to something more suitable for someone with her personality, such as cleaning out the toilets... read more

I just want to give a warning. While Panera has great food, their service is not so much. I came in about 20 mins prior to closing last night and attempted to call ahead several times, but no one picked up the phone. Then as I was pulling up to the front of the restaurant, I was still attempting to "wait for a team member", while staring right at team members not picking up the phone. Since I was already there, I just went in to order because I had a question and was trying not to go inside but they just weren't picking up the phone. I placed an order for a salad, however, since one of the ingredients was missing, I asked the cashier if I could substitute for the missing ingredient and if they charge for it. She said she will just add it on and subtract it off. I ordered two salads and one I asked for extra fruit for (in substitution for the missing fruit) and was also charged for that-- however no additional fruit was added. On top of that, I tried to reach out to a staff member about it (since the person who placed my order left immediately after), but he did not seem to care. On top of that, I asked for my salad with NO chicken and found it with chicken (see pic below). Because of cultural reasons, I cannot eat meat so I was unable to eat this salad (I took out the big chunks, but there were too many little chunks). That was very disappointing. The entire experience seemed like people who didn't want to be there and while I absolutely understand this is a difficult time, I would ask them to be mindful that the last order of the night is just as important as the beginning of the day. As well, customers make sure you review your order before leaving the restaurant and make sure you are getting what you requested (and even paid for!) read more
