The service was just okay, the food was not good, and the cafe was very dirty and not stocked. We stopped in, just passing through on a road trip. It was busy, but not crazy busy in the restaurant. We ordered and went to look for a table. We must have circled the cafe 4 times and couldn't find one clean table. We decided to get a napkin to wipe one off, but the napkins weren't stocked. When I went to the counter to request napkins, the associate seemed annoyed that I asked. We tried wiping the table with a dry napkin, but it was badly caked with food, so we wet the napkin with water and still couldn't get the table clean. We ended up leaving Panera to eat out in the main rest area sitting area. Finally our food came up , but not our drink. I ended up finding our drink was ready, but sitting on the bakery counter. This wasn't clear and no one told me it would be in a different place. Finally, the food was not great. The baguettes were good, but it both salads we ordered had brown, old lettuce on them. My Mediterranean chicken salad was very, very dry. I was just eating dry, brown lettuce. I've never had that experience with this salad as I've had it many times and never found it to be dry before. Panera is always a great option and especially while traveling. For being in a turnpike plaza this one has its own seating and there is plenty of room. Only spot here that's an actual restaurant set up. Grabbed a whole chicken and balsamic grains salad, bowl of chili, pick two kickin grilled cheese and cup of creamy tomato soup. The kickin grilled cheese wasn't special, had pepper jack cheese in it, that's the kickin part of this sandwich? Bread could have been more toasted. The chili isn't bad. The tomato soup is okay, do like the soup better in the Delta lounge. The avocado is not pretty, some brown and rotten bits. The piece of French bread that comes with wash soup and salad are all hard, what a waste. Think most eat it with the soup, so you don't know how bad it really is? The turkey is cooked elsewhere and isn't fresh, has those odd grill marks that almost look like they are painted on. One of my worst Panera experiences ever! After we waited 35 min for our CHICKEN SALAD, it was made incorrectly. I mentioned to the cashier that it was supposed to have chicken on it and one of the women from the line, Rachel, came out to start yelling at me that "the salad was NOT made wrong and we are busy, you're going to wait!". I asked her if it looked like there was chicken on there as it was indicated that I had paid for and then showed them my receipt. She yelled again that it was not made wrong and then the manager came out because of all of the yelling the employee was doing. She asked the employee to be quiet and at that point someone else had re-made the salad correctly. The manager reviewed the receipt and apologized for making the order incorrectly. Absolutely horrible service! Not greeted at all when we walked in and nobody was in there eating. Two guys standing around BSing and a girl that just gave us dirty looks. We stood at the register for 10 min with not even a hello or be right there. Finally ordered at the self serv. The girl made my smoothie with no yogurt, I was watching. And she argued with me that it didn't have yogurt. The manager walked around the corner and stepped in and the girl finally said "oh my bad I forgot". Oh ok! But had the mgr not come around she would've stuck to there's no yogurt in the smoothie. The girl was pissed she had to remake it and the mgr told her there was two not just the one and she got even more upset. She then proceeded to throw our cookies on the counter. After the smoothies were done we tried to be polite and say thank you and have a good night and she literally gave us a death glare and walked away. Yeah, great service Panera! We stopped here after a long day of driving hoping to finally get some real food. It came to $72 for 5 people yet all of us left still hungry. Sandwiches were barely filled, quite literally a smear of stuff inside. We had to go back because we didn't receive things we had paid for. On top of that, you're supposed to get a baguette with soups though you won't find that here. A hair was found in a soup and there were some real questionable chicken pieces in both sandwiches and soups. Only "satisfactory" things were a margherita flatbread and mac n cheese, both things that require zero skill and can't even be messed up that badly. After driving 14 hours it is really frustrating when service is bad. We spent at least 10 minutes trying to use one of their stupid self-serve kiosk only for it not to work. We then had to wait in line an additional 15 minutes to place our order. I told the person at the register that they need to put an out of order sign in the kiosk and they waved me off and never put the sign on the machine. So much for cost savings. read more

This was my first Panera Bread experience. On our way to New York from Chicago, we stopped to have lunch. Choosing mac and cheese was a big mistake. My brother had the large size and I had the small but the portions were baby portions. $6 for the small and about $10 for the large size kind of a rip off. They have the pager system like Shake Shack which is good. I may give a try to their other food option but no more mac an cheese :) Not again. P.S. This is the worst experience I've ever had at a Panera. The order taker automatically said no drink for my sons kids meal, I asked about a roast beef sandwich and she said steak and cheese only in a rude manner. The wait time was about 10 minutes for 2 sandwiches a half salad and my sons grilled cheese. When we got the order they were very flustered and forgot to put most of our order in the bag ( keep in mind the restaurant was very slow). They asked us what we were missing and at this point we were fed up. I told the worker we were still missing my sandwich and my son's grilled cheese. This is a very nice looking store, and I'm sure(maybe?) a lot of what they serve is delicious.. but we just did not have any luck. This Panera is part of an Interstate highway travel stop that's almost like a mini mall slash food court. The panera was large and moderately busy in the middle of the day. We ordered one ice tea and one coffee. The ice tea tasted like homeopathic remedies (ie plain water with nothing in it), and my relative traveling with me said that her coffee was the first time in her life that she'd actually dumped coffee out because of how undrinkable it was. We stopped in about 2:30 on a Thursday afternoon. It wasn't busy. That said, the staff was super friendly and I was impressed by how clean the restaurant was. Tables clean and glancing at the trash cans, they were clean as well. I'm not a Panera regular so I asked the cashier some questions about the menu and she cheerfully helped us out and made a great recommendation. The food was served hot and was very good. I wasn't expecting much from a rest stop restaurant and was pleasantly surprised! There are 3 Panera's on the tollway and we plan on stopping at one on our return trip in a couple days. I ordered a toasted bagel with butter. Easy order. I watched the him place bagel in to toaster without cutting it in half. He handed me a bag with my bagel, plastic knife, and napkins. I asked if he could cut my bagel in half. I was told cutter is broken. I asked him if he had a knife back there to cut the bagel. He said corporate was there and he was not allowed to use the knife. I asked him if someone else could cut the bagel. He then looked around me to start helping the next customer. I said to him that I was here first so please finish helping me first. He tried to ignore by talking other customers. Eventually he take my bagel in the back. Came back with it cut almost in half. It would not open to lay flat on the toaster so he squished it down hard with the tongs he had been using. He helped the people behind me. They paid and took their order. My bagel was laying in the toaster next to theirs but he still gave them their order before giving me mine. I didn't say anything. They told him the coffee was empty so he left me waiting at the counter to go fill coffee so I asked another employee to please give me my bagel. He tried to cut in telling me he will finish after he was done with the coffee. Other employee gave me my bagel. I was standing at the counter buttering my bagel when he said that is what I get for being rude. Up until that point I was nice and courteous. Then I did raise my voice a little and my smile was gone. At this point I asked for a supervisor. He said nobody was here that could help me. She came over and he stood beside her smiling and laughed at me. Then he asked if I wanted a napkin for my tears as he fake cried and wiped away fake tears. I am a very understanding person but at his comments and actions at that point were unacceptable. I have worked retail all my life. I know what it is like. He was rude. Nobody was wearing name tags so I asked his name and hers. She asked if I was trying to get her in trouble to? I asked for what? She stated they were short staffed and busy, that she is not responsible for his actions. I said if she was the supervisor then she is responsible for everybody's actions. She did give me her name, Christen I didn't yell or sling profanity. I even apologized to the people behind me in line. The actions of Johnathan were not a positive representation of what a company wants their name associated with. I am taking this further up the chain. He should be fired and she needs training to understand her responsibilities as a supervisor. read more

I hate rest stops. If you've ever driven on I-95 through Maryland or Jersey, you come to expect crappy food from rest stops. Not here. I had to stop to get cash in order to pay the tolls, so I was super excited that there was also a Panera in the rest stop. The Panera looked just like a regular Panera, but cleaner. I was suprised that the store even had the full menu. I stopped at an off time, around 4 pm, and someone took my order right away. I ordered a greek salad and coffee, and was back on my way in minutes. Everything was as I would expect from a regular Panera and was delicious. Prices were reasonable, too. I am a big fan of Panera Bread but this has to be one of the most disappointing locations. And that is taken into consideration the fact that it is a rest stop Panera Bread, and one's expectations should already be a little low. They pretty much have all the things you would expect from a regular Panera Bread. Although their pastry and bread selection is slightly reduced. The problem is the service is horrible. The staff is slow and obviously indifferent to their job. It's such a contrast to what you normally expect from Panera Bread, that you can't help but take notice and be frustrated by the whole situation. Free wifi here is a joke. When my son approached them the response was "well obviously we're out of it otherwise it'll be in the sandwich"!! This is a great rest stop and a busy panera. They seem to attract hired help with waist long hair. I found a hair wrapped around my pickle. I gave it back to the manager who also had long hair but a different color than the pickle hair . I think I won't go back to panera until they buy the staff hairnets. read more
