The place is decked out with moose heads on the wall and log cabin feel. The floor was sticky . Our server Joni was fantastic. We had the wonton nachos and it was great. They gave me two sides of beans instead of one side plus an order of onion rings and they corrected it immediately when I let them know inside. Three small cups of meat plus the two sides for just under $28 which is really expensive for the really chopped brisket and pulled pork I got. Very nice place on the inside and the female brunette server was also very nice and accommodating. The beans were not tasty. The brisket was nice and fatty. The meat came with NO SAUCE therefore I am super confused as to how this place is a barbecue slinging restaurant with sauceless meat? The pulled pork was like already chewed up meat shreds and without any sauce literally had no flavor at all and was rather dry. Yikes. On the flip side, the the light airy crispy onion rings are some of the best I've ever had! Surprisingly greasy and delicious, they really salvaged an otherwise bummer of a meal. read more

This is the 2nd time I have come here the first time wasn't great and neither was this time. First we sat at our table for at least 15 minutes before anyone took our order. Waited over an hour for our food to come out. We ordered the poutine, a chicken salad, and Buffalo wings. We asked for ranch for the salad and wings they brought blue cheese out. We told the waitress she said she was going to grab us some. We watched as she took orders at two tables and waited another 15 minutes before she finally brought us ranch., which tasted like soap. The wings came out with no sauce on them. The sauce was on the side. When I asked why the wings were not coated the waitress said the kitchen was slammed and didn't have time to coat them. My mind was made up! I was going to order the Moose Head Cobb Salad. The server came up to us and asked if we read the board with the specials. I almost said please no! I wanted to avoid the temptation. So she started talking about the burger and mushrooms and went onto the other specials. After the burger everything went dark, I was zoned into the burger. After an internal struggle I ordered the Moose Head Cobb Salad, after all it's what I had stated I would order. The server was professional, kind, and took our salad order. Food came out quickly, which I am thankful for. No time to change my mind. This salad is ENORMOUS! It's topped with a chicken breast on a bed of salad, fresh bacon, black olives, egg, shredded cheese, red onions and bleu cheese, I ordered a side of ranch. The atmosphere was quiet so I was able to catch up with my friend. I ate the entire salad, my friend had to pack the rest away. This is probably my second to third best Cobb Salad. I wish I could sub with Feta Cheese. So this experience was good, I was proud I ordered what I went there for. I did dream about the burger. The BBQ looked and smelled great. I definitely wouldn't bother getting a to-go order. Their online prices are $3 more per item than if you sit down and order which is ridiculous. Then when you call and ask them about it they'll just not answer your question and either hang up on you or put you on hold for 10 minutes until you have no choice but to hang up. We have a fairly large household so $3 per item makes a difference of $30/$40 in our bill. For the prices they already charge and the small portions this is an absolute joke. This place seems to have gone downhill. Last time I was there was 2019. Fast forward to 2024. The service wasn't bad but the food was not great. I ordered an appetizer which was pretty average. The lettuce was close to being old and dry. Two TV's and only one working. The one thing that really bothered me was the manager and the waitresses all convening at the bar just chatting away. For me that's really unprofessional and a big no-no. I saw similar behavior at the old McGarvey's in Vermilion before they closed for good. And the kiddo had chicken tenders and side salad. We love this place! The food is awesome. I have never had a bad meal. You can get anything from burgers, ribs, fish and pasta. The Chicken Parmesan is the best. I have never found it better anywhere else. The food portions are large. The wait staff, owner and manager are very personable and friendly. This place looked nice from the outside but we did notice there were no cars. It was 430 on a Wednesday but still. When we went in the floor was sticky on the bottom of our shoes and made noise when we walked on floor. We were met right away and were sat at a booth. Place seemed nice and clean except for the floor. Waitress took our drink order while we looked at menu. My Diet Coke was all syrupy and not very good so after trying another Coke from the bar I switched to water. We ordered our food along with a plate of fried Brussel sprouts. When they came out they were burnt. There were a few sprouts actually looked like sprouts but the rest was blackened leaves. Waited a while for food to arrive. When it did they got two of the orders wrong which were corrected by waitress although we had to wait for a burger to be recooked which took a while. I had the two meat combo of brisket and the Italian sausage. Brisket was ok but had definitely been reheated and the sausage was cooked long ago having shriveled up and hard. Friends had burgers and ribs which were ok. Over all it was ok but We will not be back as there are way better places to eat in Amherst. read more

We had a very good experience here. The girls working the floor worked very good together and were very attentive. One way we always judge service is that I always have iced tea or if my cup gets empty (I drink it quick) and I had 3 different people bring me a cup of tea and I never ran out. Grabbed a bite after a game at Oberlin. Great place, nice and open, looked like a fun comfortable bar. We got there about 40 min before closing and were welcomed by kind people who seemed happy we were there. There were about 5 tables still filled. I ordered the toasted cheese burger, which is a burger between 2 full-on grilled cheeses. Gabby, our server, explained it but I didn't believe her. It was amazing. Indescribable but I highly recommend. I ordered the onion rings instead of fries. I got both. Both fresh and excellent. Hubs had the big moose burger and the slaw. Both excellent as well. My wife and I ate at the Moosehead last night and my meal was horrible. I always order chicken parm whenever it is available at whatever restaurant we eat at, It used to be the best at the Moosehead several years back. Last night the size of the meal was about half the size it should be and it used to be and look very unappetizing. Both pieces of chicken were burnt black and crusty. I asked the waitress about it and she said it was the breading they used. No other explanation. I can only advise you NOT to order the chicken parm. That was not the only bad meal we were served over the past few years. The restaurant is two mikes form our house so we keep giving it a second chance based on how good it used to be. Ordered online and went to the pick up window and no one was there. Knocked on the window No one came. Went in and had to find someone for help on carry out. The food was not great. The food was delicious and the waitstaff was responsive, but there were problems. We had a reservation for 20 that the owner confirmed would not be a problem. When we arrived we were told there would be a 40 minute wait. We were not happy and asked to see the owner. The host went in back and came back to say the owner said he was too busy to talk to us. He must have changed his mind because he came out, said he was sorry about the wait time. When we mentioned our reservation he nodded toward a large table of people and said they arrived late for their reservation so there was nothing he could do. That table had not even gotten drinks yet. We felt if they were that late for a reservation they should have been told they missed their time and would have to wait. The owner said he couldn't turn them away, then turned and walked away. I understand that he was busy, but good customer service dictates that you resolve the issue. His poor waitstaff were left to figure it out. Our group of 20 was divided up between 4 tables, not able to visit with or out of town family. I've enjoyed the food from Moosehead in the past but the last 2 times it was disappointing. The beef and pork seem to be extremely fatty and the chicken breast I had last night was tough to chew. Ordering online was confusing. I found 3 different online ordering options and they all showed different prices for the same meal. The full rack dinner was 25.99 on one, 26.99 on another, and 29.99 on the third. I finally chose the one that came from what I believe was Moosehead's actual website but the order seemed to go through a 3rd-party site called ChowNow. In short, the food was acceptable (except for the chicken breast) but not notable enough to justify the price. Of course, this is just my opinion. Yours may differ. read more

My boyfriend and I just ate there I was very disappointed ordered the fish and chips , sent it back it was frozen in the middle . when I got it back it was ok, my fries were mostly little burnt pieces. The menu said it came with a salad, I asked and got told that was not right and she would check got no answer with that, we did not even get refills. The dinner was not cheap , and just for 2 little pieces of fish and fries , no salad. The waitress was there with her little daughter, more time spent laughing with her. other people got refills, salad with there meal there was another lady there , I saw her food.
