Gourmet Gastronauts wanted to try some good BBQ so we picked here! We really enjoyed it. I originally would have given four stars but see below why it turned to five. There were 8 of us and we all got various meets and appetizers and several drinks. The hostess was nice and it wasn't busy at all. When our main entrees finally came out, one girl did not have her mashed potatoes. They said they had been waiting on it but didn't want to wait any longer. It was odd since three of us also had mashed potatoes so not sure if they ran out. Either or. The reason I moved it to five star was because when they finally brought the one girls mashed potatoes out, they did bring extra cornbread. I tried the rib tips though and did not like them. With that being said, the ribs, fried chicken, brisket etc was amazing. We will be back. read more

We came back today for the Monday special, and the buns were a little better. What would make them better, would be to slightly butter and toast inside on the bun possible. It was definitely better this time though. The waitress didn't know all that came with the order, but she was very friendly, helpful, and attentive! The place was clean as last time, which is good. I'm at a loss here.... Honestly! Where to begin guys... wow. So, I was craving BBQ ribs, & while I'm generally not a fan of chains, I decided out of the sheer location convenience, I'd try it. It was already a bad indication that they had what appeared to be 1 server essentially running the whole room. Not a good sign! I only gave 2 stars because the catfish app was actually good. Otherwise, I'd have only given 1. Our food took forever, also not a great sign! What they finally brought me was a $30 slab of VERY FATTY, quasi dry, bland ribs, cold mashed potatoes (tiny serving), and collard greens that tasted like feet. Wow.... AWFUL!! I sent the ribs back & ordered salmon, which was raw in the center & more cold mashed potatoes. DO NOT under any circumstances go eat at this "restaurant". It is abysmal. Walked in on a Saturday at 12:10, high lunch hour, and I was the only person in the restaurant and over the next hour, Nothing much changed. I was very disappointed. The server was pretty attentive considering there were only two other people in the restaurant during my time there. I was handed a menu that had lunch specials on it and I saw nowhere that it said lunch specials noon to four Monday through Friday or anything like that so I ordered the two meat something or other for $14 and I chose barbecue chicken, spareribs and broccoli. Broccoli was very well done ribs were done sauced nicely and semi meaty for spareribs while the chicken leg was tasteless. I declined dessert and waited for the bill and much to my surprise. My $14 lunch was 25.50 making my total bill $31. being a senior citizen with minimum income, I had brought $20 cash for my meal but had to use my credit card because I was not anticipating the bill to be over. Double what I expected. Looking at the menu online, which showed the lunch specials AND STATED served daily 11 to 4 --very poor customer treatment on their part. . Nowhere Did it say it was Monday through Friday nor did it have corrected prices anywhere. not happy not going back. Back to Mission BBQ. read more

What happened? I used to eat there frequently, but that was about 10-15 years ago. Yesterday was most likely our last time. Black Friday late afternoon (4:30pm), parking lot empty, not a soul in that place, one couple done eating and ready to leave. We ordered 2 non alcoholic beverages 1) Korean egg rolls 2) the two meat combo (I noticed later they charged $ 2.00 extra for the brisket, WHY???) And an upcharge for a side salad instead a regular side, but $3.99??? WHY? That two meat combo therefore came to $28.98. You must be kidding me. 3) 1/2 slab baby back ribs with two sides. # 1) served without flatware. While most people might eat them with their fingers, some might not. # 2) was a joke when it comes to size and it was cold, just the fries were hot. The salad came (as ordered ) before the main meal but just with a fork stuck into the salad. Some people want knife and fork!!! # 3) was just what I do NOT expect when ordering ribs. First of all there was hardly any meat on the bones, not cooked enough, that little meat was nearly impossible to get off the bones. The best part of the meals was the cornbread. I am still mad at myself that I did not notice the extra charge for the brisket on meal # 2, and the full price for the side salad, which was a replacement for another side. And no matter what the reason, there should be a full set of flatware available for every customer, no matter if a meal is supposedly eaten with fingers or not. Sorry, but this is not the Famous Dave's I remember from years ago. We do not mind paying a good price for good food, but this was certainly not worth the $80. read more

She was very nice , kind and very knowledgeable of the restaurant and the menu and went out of her way to get whatever we needed and she served us great . And we do plan to return again. First service was slow, we almost got up and left while waiting. Second the temperature inside was 66 , I did check the thermostat. It was so chilly inside that my food immediately went from hot to tepid. Really spoiled what was started out to be a good meal. I took most of my meal home because it wasn't enjoyable, being tepid. Our waitress was not very attentive and she didn't seem to care about my concern when I asked about the portion size of the Beef Brisket I received. She said it was 4 ounces. Today took my mother my wife and kids out eat here we put our order in everything was cool. The appetizers came out but we had no drinks yet the drink came out but we had no forks,knife, or spoons to eat with. They brought us out dirty fork we wash them In cold water that brought out us. After getting the bill the manager Mike came over but didn't take anything off our bill but I seen white customers who had problems with the order and get items removed from they bill. The waitress was informative as she explained the difference between St Louis and Baby back ribs. I ordered the full slab baby back rib dinner. it comes with two sides. My two sides were greens and baked beans. I ordered corn as an extra side. The ribs were not as good as they used to be; the beans and corn were delicious. The greens had no taste. So I sent them back requesting for the corn to be one of my two sides and to remove the additional side charge for the corn. I drank water. Why was my bill $47 before tip? I failed to review the bill and automatically tipped. It was after arriving at home that it occurred to me the amount of my bill was High. A bad experience from the word Go. First we called the restaurant to ask what the wait times were looking like as it was a Saturday evening. We were placed on hold. We assumed that meant they were busy. After a couple of minutes went by and we were still on hold, we hung up and just headed there to find out in-person what it was looking like. We were told by the 2 people at the hostess stand that there would be a 30 minute wait. So we sat down to wait and as we were waiting we noticed that there were numerous open tables and the staff were all walking around like the walkers in The Walking Dead, including the 2 people at the hostess stand.......still unsure why we were placed on perpetual hold when we called, they looked extremely bored at the hostess stand. We got seated after about 20 minutes and we noticed how cold the restaurant was. Our feet were very cold while we were seated. The heat definitely needed turned up a few, or several, notches. Our walker, I mean waitress, took our order and everyone's order came out correct except for one. We had 4 people in our party. Mind you we waited 30 minutes for the order already and now one person had to wait even longer to have their order corrected. No utensils were given to me for my burnt ends appetizer (which was my meal) so I then had to wait another 5 minutes to get a fork. As we were eating, we all noticed that our food was barely warm. The portion sizes were small and our waitress was messing around behind the bar which was near our table, instead of taking care of us. There did seem to be plenty of staff there but they all had the enthusiasm of a rock. The table which was in between us and the bar had been vacated shortly after we were seated so we had to look at that mess for awhile until the walker, I mean host, got around to clearing it. I brought most of my meal home so that I could rewarm it and hopefully enjoy it at a proper temperature. This was my first time at Famous Dave's and it will be my last. I am so sad that this is what is offered when you go into a restaurant nowadays. No wonder people are staying at home more and more, it simply is not worth the high cost to get poor service and a cold, small meal for a high pricetag. We also noticed that half of the tv's were non-working.... the atmosphere was just as flat and boring as the staff and food. What happened to this place. I ordered baby back ribs that were more like St. Louis ribs. They came out cold and not done enough. I think they need help. There was hardly anyone in the place and I was there for an hour and a half waiting for cold food. So disappointed. This was a go to of mine but after a few disappointing visits here I think it's time to go elsewhere. I feel bad for the bar tender because she doesn't know how to accommodate customers. Terrible management of time. Further I ordered the bread pudding for desert only because I had a birthday free desert and she neglected to get it for 15 minutes because she said he had to cash someone e out. Famous Dave's has a long deserved reputation. In the Cleveland which is good barbecue desert,.. the trip to North Olmsted is worth the trek. For me, the standard critic's trick of spreading the variety made the most sense. So, again, I chose the platter. The brisket was a master piece!Carefully smoked and saturated with yum -yum smokiness. The baked beans were minutely sweet; the corn on the cob, though petite, nonetheless, tasty. Three items offer a balanced evacuation, two quite commendable and one not so much. The potato wedges, standing in for french fries, were spectacular; firm and hot and nicely seasoned. The chicken was a mild Cajun delight; lightly spicy but still welcoming. But woe onto lazy chefs who allow their minds to wonder and their fingers to bungle the signature item... namely baby back ribs. My wife and I were confronted with a fat sandwich dangling on a bone. Let's start with service. It took the server about 15-20 minutes to acknowledge me. I asked for tea (you could tell it had been sitting for awhile and they needed to make a fresh batch). I ordered the burnt ends appetizer, terrible, no taste and cold. She took that off my bill. I eat out quite a bit and I'm don't complain, but my expectation is to get what I pay for. I ordered the rib tips, catfish nuggets, greens and the Wilbur beans. Everything was okay with the exception of the catfish nuggets, they were fried on the outside but not done on the inside. The rib tips were decent but cold. It took the server for ever to come back to see if I wanted more tea and to go containers. I paid my bill and I will NEVER go there again! My review is based on carryout. The food was OK. Some bites of my Georgia chopped pork were good, other bites were hard, dry, and overly salty. It leads me to assume the cook mixes day old bbq in with fresh, but I could be mistaken. Had it been in restaurant, I probably would have asked for a fresh portion or would be willing to try a different choice of meat to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was just a bad day for the pork. I had twice got catered Dave's to where I work and the food was excellent. We got to try all the food between a bunch of coworkers and I tried the pork and brisket and it was awesome.Today I have the leftover baked beans and they are the best beans I ever had in my life . I couldn't ask for more in the way of this food. Some of the guys said the brisket was ok the chicken was great but I didn't try the chicken. The other stuff like salads buns corn were awesome too . It's rare that I review somewhere I haven't actually been. Most of my ratings are based on my willingness to return to said establishment, so that is why I'm still writing this. I called in advance to see if they took reservations for a party (ours was 9). They do not, no big deal. The girl kindly advised that they don't seat parties larger than 6. They would have to split us up- doing their best to keep us near each other I don't know if this is a Covid rule or their general policy, but it cost them business. We took our party elsewhere and ordered 4 appetizers, 9 entrees, several salads, cocktails and beers and tipped our server generously.
