We stopped at Panera Bread in Amherst for dinner and it didn't disappoint. The turkey & cheddar sandwich was delicious and so was their macaroni and cheese. I've always been a fan of Panera, but the Oak Point Amherst location has really gone downhill in regard to management and service. Last three visits have had issues with wrong orders, long delays, and extremely small portions. Missing sandwich that I paid for in app Chicken salad sandwich that didn't have even a half a scoop and didn't even cover half of the bread App order said ready and stood waiting for 25 min past time with no explanation (not busy) Hope they are able to fix this location as our family has gone here for years. read more

Horrible service, I been there on 4 occasions and each time I had to ask for someone to take my order, all the staff were busy on their phones or having group conversations. This Panera Bread opened in the Oak Point Plaza a few years ago. So I really enjoy how new and very clean it still looks and feels. The outdoor sitting area looks good. Not much scenery though since all you would see is the road, Taco Bell and cars. It's still good though that you can sit outside. The broccoli cheddar is amazing. Their version of Cobb Salad is ok. The bread, bagels and sweets are tempting and I forgo these items. That is why I only give them 4 stars. This is not a place that I do well when it comes to my dietary restrictions. I know that my co-workers appreciate every time the warm fresh bagels and cream cheese are brought in for them. It's convenient as it's located right off the highway. We got drove thru on our way back to Oberlin College. I follow a gluten-free (for a medical reason) & vegetarian diet and it was very hard to decipher from the drive-thru what was safe for me to eat. I asked about the vegetable soup and the lady said she'd check with her manager. It took a few minutes and she came back to say that their vegetable soup had gluten, but didn't offer another option. So I didn't order anything. There was a long line and I didn't want to hold up the line. I wish they had a gluten-free menu or markers on the drive-thru options. Honestly, this is the third time I've come to this location an hour before 9, which is when the listing says they close. EveryTIME, (around 8-8:30) they say they are closed and I'm forced to find another food option. As someone who works in food service, I completely understand unique circumstances or short staffing, but the THIRD time is ridiculous you guys. Always love Panera and never have any issues except for this location... This location messes up orders each time and yet I still return and have never given a review on them until now... They are pricey to begin with but when you want a quick sandwich and salad they are worth it. I ordered a sierra turkey sandwich and mac n cheese. Sandwich had 1 slice of turkey on it, a little bit of sauce and 2 pieces of onion, I added swiss cheese and that was there. There was no lettuce except a little leaf. The Mac n cheese which is usually really good and creamy was so dried out and not edible at all... Staff some days are good but in the evening they are to busy talking to wait on customers and that is probably why they mess up the orders... Is zero an option? I went to Panera to purchase an Asian Chicken Salad. The workers were busy gossiping about someone who works there saying they were going to "spill the tea" and subsequently put greek dressing in my salad. Unbeknownst to me I get home to eat my salad and get back in my meeting. Well I had to drive back to Panera, (late for my meeting) ask them to remake my salad and was accused of recording them because I was on my phone. LOL what do they have going on that I would need to record? I go on to explain that I am on a business call and that I am professional with no interest in doing anything as such. Wow, no refund "company policy" no gift card for the inconvenience "company policy" as after all they did "remake my salad" says the manager. Total crap show of unprofessional people. One star is one too many for my lunch today. I ordered the chicken tortellini pasta bowl. Very disappointed in my lunch. Where do I begin? The size of the lunch first. Because I was shocked at how small it was for $9 I actually took the time to count the tortellini. I had 15 tortellini pastas in my bowl. And they are really small ones at that. The chicken that covered it was disgusting and dry. But the good thing is I barely had any on my pasta. The alfredo sauce was non existent. While some might bemoan the whole "corporate" coffee chain thing - myself included at times - I really don't mind Panera. The food is definitely a step above average fast food, and the drinks are quite good. In addition, the place has a very warm, open, and welcoming vibe - something I require to sit down and write. THE DOWN-SIDE: Outlets, or lack thereof. Look, I know the management of Panera doesn't want people camping here all day, but if you're gonna promote yourself as a place to hang out and drink coffee, then you'd better walk the walk. On any given day, there are tons of people who visit here with laptops. Panera knows this, and yet, outlets are scarce. Makes no sense and does nothing but frustrate the customers. It's nice to finally have a Panera Bread on this side of Lorain County. I love the way this location is set up. There are lot's of nooks and crannies to relax in especially if you want to utilize their free Wi-Fi. As far as Panera Bread's go this location is fairly large and has ample seating. They even have an outdoor patio. I would highly recommend trying one of their sandwiches with a nice bowl of soup and then getting a bagel or pastry for dessert. . The food is always good quality and I have never had any issues with them making something incorrectly. Any time I have any concern the managers are available to listen to what I have to say. There are a few seats that have an accessible outlet, but I would bring an extension cord if you need a plug....just in case! To me, this is the only downside of this location. If you are looking for a location in Lorain County to do some work on your computer and need free Wi-Fi I would definitely give this Panera Bread location a try. read more

At one point this was a good Panera, but the poor customer service from the untrained staff they have working in there makes my most recent experiences, overall frustrating. I have witnessed unprofessional behaviors by girls who are called "managers" too - who treat the teens working there like garbage. I met a couple of friends here on Black Friday to sit and catch up since I haven't seen them in a while. I never come here for breakfast except to take some bagels home. I felt kind of rediculous because I'm looking at the menu not sure what to order at all. I asked the cashier if they had hash browns or any kind of side I could order with my sandwich and she said no but she wishes they did. I felt that my sandwich was pretty small, but it was really good. It didn't last long because I was very hungry. I had a pumpkin muffin that I was planning on taking home, but since there were no sides with my sandwich, I ate half my muffin because I was still hungry. The staff and service here was very friendly. It was nice to sit in the back near the fire place on a cold morning and catch up with friends without feeling rushed to leave so someone else could have our table. My friends and I drove from Sandusky and we stopped at this Panera to pick up some coffee and food because we were hungry. We pulled into the drive thru and had immediate problems. Two people were taking our orders at the same time and would not stop messing the order up. When my friend asked to substitute regular milk for almond milk the one guy taking our order literally yelled "oh my god" out of annoyance. (Their name was either Sam or Alex. We don't know who is who since a girl and guy were both taking our orders). They also forgot a bunch of our items as we were driving away and made us pay for the additional items again after we went inside to tell them what they forgot to give us. I went through the drive thru of this location with an extremely simple order: chicken caesar with no croutons and a pick two with grilled cheese and tomato soup. Easy process and through in minutes. But by the time we get home and open it up it's clear that wasn't worth the 16$ price tag. The grilled cheese is something I could've made the the tomato soup is just tomato soup. That's honestly fine for 8$. What is crazy to me is my salad was actually just a bowl of lettuce, no cheese, no chicken, and hardly enough dressing to cover the lettuce. For 8$ I got a bowl of lettuce. I've never had a problem like this at any other panera. Such a waste of money especially for fast casual dining.
