Cole's is amazing! The dishes are always incredible and presentation is top notch. Not your normal Amherst bar type place. They change up the menu seasonally, and always add special seasonal drinks. Cole's has the best Salmon I've ever had. Even better than a certain place in Rocky River with Salmon in the name. The staff is fantastic, and they must treat them well because you see the same friendly faces. Bartender Ryan is usually who we see because he's so friendly. We love Jamie too! Cole's is my favorite bar in the downtown neighborhood. They make some of the best cocktails, including a great mint drink I always go back for. The oysters are always fresh and delicious, and the menu has a lot of solid choices. In the summer, the patio is a great place to sit, and they have a band on Fridays which makes it even better. The manager refused to clear even a pathway from the main street thru the last big snow to their front door. Patrons who paked in front of the restaurant either had to climb over a 2-3 ft mountain of snow and ice or risk getting hit by a car walking in the street to the nearest cleared sidewalk entrance to their minimally cleared sidewalk. Their food is expensive and not worth the price. You would do better going elsewhere. read more

I was very impressed. We went early when they were not busy since I have 4 kids. They where super nice and even made us hand made lemonade when the machine went down. Food was delicious and worth the extra money they charged for it. Honestly the meatloaf is hit or miss, but the burgers are amazing. The fries have truffle oil and garlic aioli but in a way that is perfectly balanced and not a mouthful of truffle. My brunch brunch burger tuned into a mess and my wife's monte cristo was undercooked. The other 2 in our party got the short rib skilled which they enjoyed. I've been here a couple of times now and I really enjoy this place. I stop in early on a Saturday afternoon when things are slow so the vibe inside is chill/easy going and the staff is attentive. Always a parking space right in front. The Apple & Brie Burger $12 is tasty and I love how you can pick your side! I've gotten the seasonal veggie (grilled asparagus with a little cheese on them) and the Brussels sprouts. The latter is a dollar more, but these are fancy sprouts! They come with some sort of wine reduction?, raisins, and sliced almonds? But the best part is that they aren't deep fried! Some restaurants are way over doing it these days with greasy deep fried sprouts heavily topped with aioli, it's just too much. Another good menu item is the Goat Cheese Dip $10. However, I would steer clear of the fried corn fritters. If you get the Lyonnaise potatoes make sure to request they are crispy. I got them once and they were sad and floppy. I think Cole's has a great menu that has seasonal offerings and provides elevated dishes at a reasonable price. They also seem to have a nice craft beer selection. I don't get out to Amherst often, but it's a cute little area and I can count on Cole's for a tasty dining experience. read more
