I'm not a restaurant manager but I do understand the idea of fast and fresh. When I arrived the line was long so I decided to use the automated kiosk to expedite the process. I have now been waiting 30 minutes and still no food. I believe many restaurants try to be everything. They offer lobby service and drive through as well as mobile orders. My best suggestion is to only offer the services where you have the resources to produce satisfied customers. This has not been a good experience. read more

If I could give 0 stars, it would be double 00! Just sat in the drive through for 1 hour. The 2 full sized sandwiches were smaller than the 1/2 sandwich and they only had 4 slices of pepperoni on each sandwich. When I went inside to check on my order, I was told that the indoor dining was taking 1 hour also. Absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!! and pitiful for a new resturant that we have waited so long to finally open. Will not be returning and not suggesting anyone to go to this location. And the manager told me I could keep on driving if I wasn't happy with the wait. Needs new management!!!! read more

I have eaten at Panera in other locations for years and was excited to see one come to Amarillo. Went this morning a little after 8:00 am. Was very surprised to see no pastries in the display but saw racks of pastries covered up. Was told they (not sure staff or pastries) just got there. Figured out two to order and then ordered two breakfast sandwiches. There were only a couple of other customers in the store but waited over 20 minutes for my sandwiches. I will try the store again later but I have a feeling this store won't last long in Amarillo. That makes me sad but no one will support a business with customer service being this lousy. By the way, at 8:45 there were still no pastries on display. read more

I stopped by here for lunch today, and the staff was very attentive and even let me try a small sample of soup to help me make my decisions. My food was perfect. Good temperature to begin eating. Everyone that works here is very friendly and the food was very good. Will definitely be back. read more

Maybe some day. Traveling through Amarillo, we decided to have an early dinner at Panera Panera a better choice for us than pizza or burgers. I know this is a relatively new store, but was surprised to find only drive thru open, with an explanation on the door, short staff not enough workers. With outside seating, and weather not to bad, we placed orders at drive thru. Sat out side. With the exception of no napkins or utensils in with order, the food was off just a little from most Panera stores, it wasn't a terrible experience and meal. So I say "Maybe some day"! Very slow service, seems they are staffed adequately, just couldn't pull it together. Food was subpar, someone needs to hone in and take charge or this place won't survive. I visited Panera Bread for the first time this evening. I can assure you I will not be back. I ordered a sandwich for my wife and a smoothie, for me a caesar salad with chicken. Price was $33.36 including a two dollar tip but should have gave none. I picked up my order at the window. No one waited on me. I've had better salads from Walmart for $5.00. Subway, Firehouse, Schlotzskys or Jimmy John's all have much better sandwiches for a lot less money. The caesar salad was horrible, no cheese, no olive oil, no pepper, no egg, no garlic, no worcestershire sauce, no mustard, just romaine lettuce, four or five croutons and two small cups of some kind of dressing I could not identify. There was not enough chicken to have made one small strip at Canes or Chick-fil-A. You are probably thinking I am exaggerating but I'm not. I knew we should had left when we trying to order, the lady behind the counter, got distracted as another employee walked up and talking about her family issues with her. I had to interrupt them to finish our order. we watched our food be placed on the pick up counter and sit there for over five minutes. I went and got our food, I looked over at the counter and both employees were still talking to each other. The food was lukewarm. We left and took the food to our house to reheat it. Never again! Was looking forward to trying Panera and went to the new Amarillo location. I asked the waitstaff about a menu item and instead they added it to my order, even though I stated I would try a different item instead (and never ordered the item I asked about). She did not repeat my order and I found the mistake after I paid and got my receipt. 40 minutes later my food arrived. It was lukewarm, of average quality and certainly did not support its price. While they were willing to refund my ticket when I inquired at 38 minutes, my ticket # appeared on the "Preparing" screen so I decided to wait for the food. They stated they were short handed but it appeared that they were confused - 2 kitchen staff kept scrolling through the order screen and it seemed they did not have a good system with at least 4 people that I could see working in the kitchen. read more

I loved Panera when I lived in Vegas but this one is terrible! They need to get it together or they're going to lose all of their customers. Did a rapid order pick up, when I placed the order it told me to head there in 10min. to pick up in the drive thru. I did that and then had to wait almost an HOUR!!!! In the drive thru! I ordered the Napa Almond Chicken Sandwich....the very worst subway sandwich I ever ate was twice as good as this. There was literally two quarter size spoons of chicken, one razor thin slice of an almond, three pieces of one grape, two paper thin slices of a tomato and two leafs of lettuce .....the great positive is that it only took 15 minute, they forgot my cup of soup and bag of chips....This place sucks with a capital "S....my chances of winning the lottery are far better than me ever going back to the Amarillo Panera Bread..Do not waste your money or time...just ask the people walking out if you want to experience it for yourself. Wasted 30 minutes waiting in line through the drive through only to be told they couldn't take orders there and would have to order inside. No common sense! They could have handwritten orders and rung up at register's in front (apparently those were working) so ridiculous! today I decided to eat here with a friend, I ordered a grilled cheese and when my order came it was smaller then my hand and on a very weird bread and my cheese was Burt. It was very bad, I also ordered soup to/go and when it came out on a plate I kindly told them it was a Togo order. When they brought it back it looked like they had dumped the plate into the bag, it was messy. I am extremely upset with my experience here and hope no one ever get a grilled cheese like that again. Also siting right next to me was a girl and she also ordered a grilled cheese and hers look normal and was full sized. Once again I am extremely disappointed in my local Panera. Also we waited in line for 30 minutes. The only positive of this trip was my broccoli and cheese mac and cheese.:( read more

My family could not wait for Panera to final open in Amarillo, but like everyone else disappointment doesn't come close to our experiences... BUT it has now "reopened" with a whole new staff, we decided to give it a try "one more time" and I can only say "Amarillo, we finally have a GREAT Panera Bread store"! If I could leave a negative star I would. This was our first time for eating at Panera. It was terrible. It was my family and my friends that went and we all had terrible food. My mother ordered soup, she got a 1/4 of a bowl that was cold when we got it. The rest of us got sandwiches, all of our bread was too hard to chew. It was terrible. read more

Attempted to try Panera two separate occasions. First time, I was informed upon entering the building by fellow customers that they had been waiting over an hour. The second time I visited, was a few months later... I waited at the restaurant for over 45 minutes before being informed they were out of everything I ordered. For being open only a week I bit into there banquet and 2 days later my tooth was still hurting from pulling the bread apart. I ordered the turkey chilli I expected for 9.00 it was going to come in a bread bowl came out cold with hard bread I would hate to go through the drive thru in fear what I was going to get. Being I walked in the line was long the service was nice but she didn't know what they had so took extra long I was in my lunch break and literally for a bowl of chili and hard bread defiantly won't be going back. I think all of Amarillo was excited about getting a Panera bread but I think I'll wait in the line at Torchys tacos where the food is fresh and didn't hurt your teeth from biting into it next time probably won't be back till maybe they hire better employees and cooks read more

I was so excited when I found out Amarillo was getting a Panera. I love Panera.. Ive been trying to give this one a chance because it's so new but I've been here twice now and both time my order took 45 minutes. And, the customer service was terrible. Especially with how the employees treat the customers when they turn their backs. I literally sat there and watched them make snarky looks when someone turned around after asking for something. Save your TIME and money and go somewhere else. I ordered online, all good. Arrived at specified time waited 15 minutes in line. Girl came out and said it was a 45 minute wait after ordering, and that I should probably cancel my order--to get my money back needed to go inside. Another 10 minute wait, couldn't get my money back because I didn't know my order number. Faster service from a food truck with one person taking orders AND cooking. Really disappointed as I like Panera, but just as many chains that come to Amarillo, they aren't going to make it. read more

I have never felt the need to leave a review on yelp and I have had pretty bad service before. Panera bread will be my first review. I decided to go through the drive through today because I had heard good things about the food. As I was waiting in line we had only one truck in front of us and they took a minute. When we got to the window, the cashier blamed it on them because they ordered a lot of food. No problem. While I'm waiting for my food, talked to a friend who said she had waited an hour and half for her food last time. I laughed, but then waited over an hour in the drive through. Not only that but I could see no urgency inside and they still messed up my order and almost forgot my pizza (I had to remind them). They were nice, but did not hardly apologize for the wait or anything. There was a full line behind us when we were waiting and by the time we pulled off everyone had backed out and the car directly behind us just drove by the window. Wow. This is the worst Panera I have ever experienced. There were more people in the kitchen, than there were inside customers. The menu looked familiar, but that's where the similarity to other Paneras ends. The staff is a "high school employee" nightmare, chattily gathered around the drive thru, with ONE sloooow person making sandwiches. Since everything at a classic Panera is supposedly fresh that day, it's really disquieting for an employee to go to the guy making sandwiches, and say "Smell this.", while carrying a bucket of tomato slices. The chef says back, "Seems OK to me." Nothing like that should EVER be said in front of a customer. I won't be returning, not because the bill was $33 dollars for two sandwiches and a bowl of soup, but because it took half an hour to prepare. I even took food out to one of the tables, while waiting on my own food. If you must have a Panera fix, go to the drive thru. That's the only thing they pay attention to. read more
