Fresh ingredients and fresh bread sandwiches. Really cute, small place hidden next to Pompei. We ordered four different sandwiches and they were all delicious. Great service and very friendly staff. I ordered a sandwich with meat by mistake and they happily exchanged it. They're pretty big that I had half left over for a snack later. I definitely would come back on this trip. It does get busy but they're quick. We lucked out and came as they opened. Great place to pick up Togo good as well. We found Pane e Salame as we were walking around looking for a place to eat. It had a line going out the door so it sparked our interest. We were created by some of the nicest staff you can find. We ordered a mixed meat board which is filled with delicious cuts of meats, cheeses and veggies. I highly recommend this! It is really small, maybe room for 20 people at a time and expect to wait because it's always busy. A must stop if you're in Rome. read more

The guys that work there were sweet and helpful and the sandwich was substantial and delicious! We were starving (we had the #N with roasted turkey and mozz minus the tuna cream and the #T with ham, mozz, and arugula -- that's what rocket salad is), so we destroyed both parts of our sandwich, but I could see someone else maybe even being able to save a half. The moscato was really good too. The only place I've been able to find moscato in Italy! It was surprisingly dead on a Wednesday at 5PM, but lucky for us! As far as places to eat goes in Rome, I don't think many tourist know about this little whole in the wall place. I bet my review will change that because the food was outstanding! If I could give 10 stars I would! I did my research for a charcuterie board during our stay in Rome and came across Pane e Salame ( Bread and Meat). We had intentions of starting off with one of their photogenic board and ordering some paninis for our main course but our waiter advised otherwise. He talked us out of the paninis and assured us that the board would be enough food. We did not believe him with our American appetites but decided to trust him anyway. We ordered a 10 euro bottle of Chianti wine and had a few sips before our breath taking board came out. I tried to take a picture for Yelp purposes but the board was too large for a picture so I had to video it! You can order either a small, medium or large board for different prices per person which is a different option as compared to what I am used to in the US. The medium was 10 euro per person and came with 3 of everything on the board which consisted of about 10 different salumi and meat options, about 6 cheese selections, 3-4 bruschetta types and other accompaniments. Wow, everything we ate was better than the last thing we tried. Another 10 euro bottle of wine later and we were stuffed for dinner for 50 euro between 3 people! What an amazing place to try the best quality ingredients you will ever find! The place is worth how ever long you have to wait and take my advice and go with the board so you can truly appreciate food craft at its finest. read more

I found this helpful since I waited for 45 minutes for a seat and saw a group do this while I was waiting. For the take away service the restaurant provided the food within 10 minutes. What a great little sandwich shop! My husband and I came across Pane e Salame while wandering around Rome. We stopped to look at the menu and there were many great options and the prices were very reasonable. We were instantly taken in by how charming it was inside but the best part was by far the food. We ordered a cheese board for two which had four different types of cheeses, tomatoes slices and a little jar of some type of jelly and one of honey. Oh my gosh you wouldn't think to put those combinations together (or at least we wouldn't) but they were out of this world delicious! After that I got a turkey sandwich and my husband a salami sandwich. Again, so delicious! The sandwiches are pretty big too, I could only finish half of it. If you order the cheese board or meat and cheese board, I recommend sharing a sandwich instead (it's a lot of food). read more

All these reviews are not wrong. This was actually one of the best things I ate while in Rome, and it was a sandwich! Kind of hard to believe. We walked up to the register and ordered food to go, which was much more appealing to us than waiting in line to be seated. It was quite small inside and the line was already at least 3 families deep. They have a long list of different sandwiches I had a hard time choosing but settled on proscuitto with Brie and truffle cream. Holy cow this was like the best Brie I have ever tasted and it was perfect with the saltiness and crusty bread. We wandered with our sandwiches to the trevi fountain and sat down and people watched. One of the best meals we had. Great shop for sandwiches and cured meats. We had a couple of the sandwiches and a meat platter. The sandwiches were excellent and came in bread that was warmed. The meat platter is excellent. I believe we had the large for two people and it came with bread with a variety of spreads - artichoke, jams, etc..., some cheese and wonderful cured meats. We could have just eaten this without the sandwiches. The house wine was one of the best glasses we had during our time in Rome. You can opt to order sandwiches takeaway. This location is already well known in my friend group as one of the best locations! Although it was incredibly busy, around lunch hour, we got seated fairly quickly in about 15 minutes. The service was great despite the limited staff in a very busy time and our food arrived quickly and hot. Favorite place to eat in Rome. And that's saying a lot. Sandwiches are amazing, they will custom make anything you want on their crispy bread. Boards are also great, you can mix and match or get one that they pick for you. The ONLY place in Rome that we ate at more than once in our 6 night, 7 day trip, if that tells you anything. This sandwich & charcuterie board shop is a must! It's a small location with maybe a 15-30 minute wait, but super fast service inside. They serve cheap and delicious deli sandwiches for only $5 each, and theyre HUGE! Then the meat & cheese charcuterie board is AMAZING. It's $5 per person for a small, and it was still a generous portion. The medium and large boards were massive and all the pictures of them online will show you. It's so cheap and so delicious, totally worth stopping by in Rome. It's close to the Trevi Fountain so I'd say check in with the waiter and put your name down on the list, and/or order a sandwich to-go if you don't have time to wait! =) read more
