We had just finished viewing Fontana di Trevi and were looking for a place to have a late lunch/early dinner. The issue I had was that I was in a super heavy tourist area and all of the restaurants we were walking past had people outside trying to lure us in. I wanted to avoid places like that, however via Yelp I discovered Il Chianti a short walk away. While still I assumed still touristy, the reviews were great and as we approached they weren't trying to lure us in, so we decided to try them out. I take this place is very popular since I noticed a sign instructing diners for form a line as we walked up to the restaurant. However, there was no line to be found and we were seated right away. Curb appeal is lovely, they have a decently-sized outdoor seating area though we opted to sit inside. The interior is a good size and compartmentalized into different rooms. The aesthetics are mostly classic with medium to dark wood tones. The menu contained some Tuscan dishes but also several that were more common outside of the region. We decided to start with two of their apps - a cheese plate and bread with fatty prosciutto, pistachio, and honey. The cheese plate was great, I love cheese and this one delivered - there was a good variety and the plate was paired with a few complements. The bread was great - the combination of the fatty prosciutto with the honey and nuts made for a great experience. There was a small salad in the center of the dish which was a welcome reprieve from the heaviness of the app. For my main I decided to get pasta - the paccheri with tomato sauce and burrata was speaking to me. The dish was great - pasta was cooked well and all of the components were super fresh. I've tried burrata in may settings but rarely in a pasta dish - it worked well and now I'll be seeking it out more often. Service was good - everyone was very friendly and there was a good pace to the rate our dishes came out. Overall, we had a great experience at Il Chianti - in a sea of touristy spots by the Trevi, this stands out as a noteworthy option for a good meal.
We were lucky to get a table without a reservation--seems it's easier to snag one inside than outside. The Tuscan food was delicious overall. The bread was okay; I've had better focaccia, but the fresh, made-to-order pastas were absolutely scrumptious. The wine paired nicely with the meal. We were too full for dessert, but they brought out complimentary biscotti, which was just the right amount of sweet. Service was prompt and attentive. If you're in the Trevi area, it's definitely worth checking out!

We decided to eat inside as there was pretty much no tables available outside and there was a possibility of a rain - and I was very happy about this as ambiance was great and I had a pleasure looking at wine bottles while eating :). I had a wonderful glass of Vermentino with my meal. I had gorgonzola pear salad as my lunch dish, and it was delicious. Everybody else had pizzas and they were superb - thin crust, perfectly charred and delicious, including mortadella pizza. Excellent service - prompt, friendly, attentive. Highly recommended.
It was alright. Out of all the places around the Trevi area of Rome, this is probably the most legit. So many spots are straight up tourist traps charging astronomical prices for mediocre "Italian" food. Il Chianti is good. It's a little more expensive but at least it's good. There was a line outside when we arrived but it moved quickly. We were seated on the patio and service was fairly quick. We got the prosciutto e melone to share. The melon was so tender and juicy. The prosciutto wasn't the best ever but the flavors still went nicely together. I got the cacio e pepe and it was yummy. The spaghetti noodles are very thick. This surprised us. Is it a Roman thing? Not sure, the other places we ate in Rome didn't have spaghetti like that. My sister, who had been spoiled by Bolognese cuisine for the past six months, wasn't very impressed with her food. Overall, we felt everything was just pretty good. We would've stayed for dessert had there not been a man sitting right next to us blowing cigarette smoke straight into my face while we were eating. When in Rome, I guess...
We had such a lovely dinner here after a one hour wait (this place was very popular, highly recommend making reservations). We were sat outside and were served by Elida. The ambience was intimate and inviting, somewhat casual. We ordered the filet and almond roasted chicken. One of the best chicken breast, I have ever had. It was juicy, tender and full of flavor. My husband and I are both lactose intolerant and there were very accommodating. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the main dishes just the dessert.
My husband and I ordered the same meals, chicken and salad, both were absolutely delicious. The service was excellent and the ambiance was charming and cheerful. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.
The food was excellent! It was recommended to us, and it did not disappoint. Visiting Italy for the first time. It was a real treat!!
Food was great Wine was great Service is great Nice clean establishment Pizza was napoletana, which can be a little to soggy in the middle for m but this one was not. Eat it!
So based on Yelp we picked this spot out of many options in the area that all seemed catered to tourists aka mediocre. Perhaps we caught them at the end of the night, we sat down at 11pm on Wed night, the outdoor area was packed, and were told - very nicely - that we had a few min to order pasta or meat dishes. So we ordered the pappardelle with boar ragout and the beef medallions. The pappardelle was quite good EXCEPT what inspired me to write this review... there were full black peppercorns (!) throughout the dish. Which just makes no sense. Have eaten this dish many times in many places (including all over Tuscany), never once had the dish bombed by such a strong counter flavor. . (We picked them out best as we could and ate the pasta somehow as it was good...yet I just can't forgive them 'corns!!) The beef medallions were totally ordinary and forgettable. Great wine selection helped. Our waiter was friendly and on point. FWIW the pizzas we saw looked (much) better. I just wish the Yelp rating was closer to 3-3.5 stars so I could go back in time and pick another place. ;)
Had an amazing dinner here. I thought it would be touristy since it was so close to Trevi Fountain, and while it was certainly a popular place for tourists, it was some of the best food we had on our trip. We started with the cheese and jam. It was similar to a Brie, but with a different taste. It was really good. The truffle pasta was delicious and the spinach and ricotta raviolis were out of this world. Service was great as well. Overall really great meal!
Such a disappointment. We expected pasta and pizza in Rome to be amazing almost anywhere... especially somewhere with 4.5 Yelp stars. But this was a huge mistake. We arrived at 11.40 and were 2nd in line... minus being cutoff by a horribly rude French woman and her husband... we were excited to grab a table outside a little after 12.00. We were then completely ignored. It took 12.20 until someone asked us for our drink + appetizer order and another 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive and another 40 minutes for the cold cheese/meats to arrive. Other tables completed their meals before we could even order our entrees. When we did order 2 pasta dishes and a bacon pizza it took another 50 minutes to be delivered. And it was awful. The pizza was shredded cheese and strips of undercooked bacon. There was absolutely no color on the crust. The pasta had no flavor. Traveled 3000 miles expecting amazing and instead had the worse meal of the whole trip.
Although we didn't have a reservation we got a table right away outside. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, clean and chic. Perfect location!! I had the pasta, it was okay but it lacked a little flavor. The pizza was good, better than the pasta. I don't think we will be back.

On the last day of my vacation, we decided to reserve here as it was recommended by friends. It is quite close to the Trevi Fountain so I don't recommend eating outside as there will be lots of people walking around. Inside, the atmosphere is nice and warm. The service is so friendly and very fast. It was the only restaurant that gave us bread and a little dessert as part of the service. I ordered the cacio e pepe and the carbonara because I could not make up my mind and both were delicious. Both dishes I would recommend. Portions are a bit bigger than other places I had tried during my trip but the pasta is just different in Italy. It does not make you bloated. read more
This restaurant was phenomenal. We enjoyed it so much we actually went twice, which says a lot because we usually never eat the same place twice while on vacation. We tried several different dishes and drinks and each were incredible. The staff was very friendly and they were very kind with our toddler as well. We sat inside both times we ate and it was a nice break from the heat. The restaurant was cool enough to give us a little heat break. Definitely recommend! read more

Although we didn't have a reservation we got a table right away outside. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, clean and chic. Perfect location!! I had the pasta, it was okay but it lacked a little flavor. The pizza was good, better than the pasta. I don't think we will be back. read more
We were at TRevi Fountain and needed dinner so decided to check this out because of great reviews! So glad we did. We hit that sweet spot between and of luch and beginning of dinner and got a seat immediately. If going for dinner, I suggest reservations or be preparred to wait! We shared Pasta Carbonara and a pizza. The food was amazing! of course you have to have the Aperol spritzer! The house red wine is excellant also! Wish we had more days so I could have returned! The service was great. Loved the outside dining area. The pumpkin soup was delicious. They get a crowd, so I highly recommend reservations. I usually love mushrooms and gnocchi, but the flavor of this one was not for me, but I'd definitely dine again and try other things on the menu. The desserts looked delicious, but I had no room left to try. read more

We stopped here for lunch while visiting Rome. This restaurant is located right around the corner from Trevi Fountain in a very touristy area. Actually, Il Chianti was the least touristy looking restaurant which is why we chose to eat here. This was not the best pizza we had but I will say, the salad!! The salad was incredible! Full of flavor and so fresh. I had to add olive oil and salt to the pizza because it was lacking a little in flavor compared to other pizzas we had. Not a huge deal. Our server spoke great English and he was so interested to hear our story about where we come from and why we were there. He was a really nice guy that genuinely enjoyed talking to people like us which was nice. I would recommend grabbing lunch here! read more

This was hands down my favorite restaurant in Italy. We ordered the spritz mainly bc I saw everyone drink it around us. It was huge and I only had half but def felt it. I should have taken the waiter's offer to add less alcohol but I couldn't justify it for the same cost. Our mains were truffle gnocchi and tiramisu. It was actually our second lunch around 4pm and such an awkward time but the restaurant was still quite packed. The truffle gnocchi was delicious and not too overpowering for us. It didn't seem like its most popular item tho. The tiramisu was our favorite out of like six other places. Super creamy, melted in your mouth. We liked how strong it tasted and thought it was served at a good temperature. Nice outdoor seating, many tourists but truly recommend if you'll be in Italy! Not the greatest customer service but the food is worth it. read more

Best meal that I've had in Rome! The quality of the food was A+ and I still can't get over how cheap wine bottles are here. The ambiance was anything you'd want from a Roman restaurant. Loved the appetizer we chose with fig and cheese. Our server also was amazing and gave us a great recommendation for wine. I will continue to recommend Il Chianti to anyone I know who is visiting Rome. read more

The Yelp rating is what got me to go there in the first place and it did not disappoint. The short wait was well worth it thanks to people in front us that didn't want to wait, about 25min. All the food was delicious and at the right temp. From the La Saporita salad, to the Carbonara pasta, and especially the Prosciutto pizza. I wish we had enough time to go back. Probably some of, if not the best thin crust pizza I've ever had. Hands down recommended. read more

The best meal we had in Rome! We ordered the tomato and bread and fagioli soups, margherita pizza and the veal shank and everything was amazing. We will absolutely be going back here the next time we're in Rome and absolutely recommend! read more

Please avoid this tourist spot if possible. Servide was OK, but the bread was not crispy and all the foods we ordered - Pizza. Wild mushroom stuffed whth gnocchi withe truffle, and La Chianti (mixed veggie sallad) were off balance in terms of texture and taste. Thr gnocchi was awfully cooked and taste was not good. The Veggie sallad had lots of bitter taste. It's hard to be like this with all the fresh inferedients in Italy! Sure, it's a beautiful restaurant at a wondwful location with rare gluten-free option, but you guys need to improve your chef's level definitely more. read more
