Located on the corner of Larpenteur and Lexington, this place sort of blends in. It's apart of the strip mall full of many choices like Home Goods, Elite Nails, Anytime Fitness, Johns Tailors and so much more. On the bus line, and near the locals "shopping center" we found this option by googling "buffets near me." We walked in to a woman sitting on her phone, we weren't greeted but she said "how many" as if she was annoyed, and continued to stay on her phone. My father stated "2" and she stood up, quoted the price of around $25 and tossed the table "reservation" sign at us (it mentions not to waste and to ask for help if needed) Now that we've been standing here for about two minutes, she still hasn't made eye contact with us. I chuckled in frustration and walked away, because I absolutely HATE terrible customer service. At this moment she looks up with slight concern on her face, because- excuse my French- she knew she had us f***** up. If it were up to me, we would have turned around and left but I was with my father and I bit my tongue. They didn't deserve our support. The way she carelessly tossed the sign across the less than 12 inch counter replays in my mind, and I think of a multitude of ways I could karate chop her in her throat (not really, but a girl can dream.. right?) We seated ourselves in the last booth near the restrooms, which was perfect because I was disgusted at the sight of the cashier. The young lady who cleaned our tables did a great job at smiling and being prompt. Kudos to her, she's the best. My dad and I had a really great time, trying new things and suggesting things to one another. The food was OK. I loved the clams and they have a good selection for anyone on a pescatarian diet, like myself. For the first time in a long time, I treated myself to a little desert to sweeten up the sour experience I had walking in. Ice cream with sprinkles will bring the kid out in you. If you read any of my reviews, very rarely do I have this disposition. I really want to make sure you understand how unkind our initial interaction was and how displeased I was that we stayed after being treated in such a manner. However, I can not deny that I was pleased with the menu, and finding some foods that cater to my diet. (Not many, but some) Would I go again? Maybe I'd give them another shot. This is a small little buffet in a strip mall. The food is about average and for a small location they do have a good selection. The person bussing our table was very friendly. The person who checked us in was unfortunately not. She gave us the feeling that we were bothering her by bringing our business to her. I go almost once a week for take out because many dishes have delicious vegetables that are always fresh and never over cooked. For me, it is a delicious easy way to get a big variety of healthy veggies for a very reasonable price: Cauliflower, broccoli, big slices of celery, cabbage, big onions, carrots, green pepper chunks, zucchini and garlic green beans cooked to perfection. They also have mushroom dishes-vegetarian and meat stuffed. While the person at the register does not put on the "MN nice" that I think some reviewers here expect, they are always friendly to me and I appreciate them and know how tiring it can be to work in that environment. read more

This place has gone downhill A LOT. Today the food was all lukewarm, right from the serving area to my table, nothing was as hot as you would want food to be to consider it safe. I sampled several dishes and without exception the meats were tough and overcooked. One pork dish had a piece of gristle in it that was completely inedible. All of the dishes tasted the same - no variation in spice or flavor. The table I sat at looked clean, but was sticky and had wet areas on it. No surprise that you pay on your way in - if I hadn't already paid, I would've turned around and left. This is unfortunately a really bad buffet. I had better expectations as my friends had said they enjoyed it but wow, this was a major letdown. The selection is quite small when compared to others in town. I was pretty excited when I saw salt & pepper shrimp and sautéed baby clams. However the clams were old, rubbery and full of sand. Very poor quality. The shrimp was lackluster in flavor and intestines were not taken out. The rest of the menu swims in grease and sodium laden sauce of sorts. Most fried items were over fried and dry. Decor is dingy, very dated, with wallpaper peeling off the wall. No one expects great ambiance with buffets but this place comes across as drab and depressing when it comes to decor. Service is pure icy cold reception. If you take a look at the google reviews, quite a few people talk about the rudeness from the lady who runs the cashier. They're not wrong at all. She exhibits zero warmth. I'm super picky when it comes to buffets. The big huge selections don't generally turn me on. Panda is one of the better quality big chain buffets, good for you! I was there for lunch with my mother and grandmother and we all really liked it, being kind of a tough sell. Salad bar is bomb. IDK why Asian buffets have the best salad bars, or maybe they're the only ones left, but love love love! The fried stuff was good. Liked all of the beverages and desserts, a larger selection than normal. This place is great! The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because that is reserved for the likes of Cleveland wok in terms of Asian buffets. This place is your average buffet. Not too pricey, but it's run self-serve/pay like a Sizzler (youngins ask some one older about this reference). We came on a Friday night at around 8, so some of the food options showed some age. The decor was pretty basic and somewhat clean (table was a little sticky as was soy sauce bottle). Food wasn't the worst I've had, but also not the best. The flavors seem a little off - somewhat artificial. But hey, some chinese buffet-ers love that. My teenage daughter loves noodles and is somewhat of an expert since she eats them so often. She says they scored a 3.8 out of 5. The pot stickers ate really good, but last time I went I was surprised by the lack of fresh, quality food. Dinner is $11.50 with tax and there is no crab legs. The food selection doesn't seem worth the price. Also we had green beans that looked like they were covered in snot. Yuck. There are so many options in the cities for Chinese buffets that serve much better food for the same price. You have to be competitive in this market! The total for a dinner buffet was $12.12, so if you need to fill up on fried food (chicken wings are the best part of the menu), then you will get your money's worth. There is a decent selection of items, but less than many buffets. The food was not impressive by American style Chinese food standards. Bland is the best way I can describe the experience, so if you're going here for flavor, I'd explore alternatives. I used to live near here so we used to frequent this place years and years ago. It was good back then. They were one of the first Chinese buffets in the Northern suburbs and was recommended to my mom. It was good back then. Now? Yick. They've remodeled since the last time I was there, so it's updated more than it used to be. But their food was horrible, half of the dishes were swimming some unrecognizable sauce, and they didn't have much selection. My plates were only have filled because I couldn't find anything I wanted to try. If you've ever seen me at a buffet, that just doesn't happen. Nothing looked appetizing. At most Chinese buffets these days, community waiters pour drinks for you and they give you one set of silverware. I always hated that because with drinks they either didn't fill up when I needed one or they filled up when I was about to leave, which I found wasteful. And with silverware, I sometimes needed an extra fork. Panda Garden has a fountain where you can serve yourself and an area where you can get your own silverware and napkins. Those are probably the only saving graces of the place, but if there was a girl named Grace that needed saving, I wouldn't have very high hopes that she'd make it. read more

If you're looking for an inexpensive buffet in the Falcon Heights/Roseville area, Panda Garden is great IF (and this is a big if) you like standard Chinese buffet style food. If you're looking for mind-blowing flavor, probably no buffet is going to be a great bet. Don't come expecting sushi or hibachi. This is a modest buffet, but it's priced accordingly. I think of it as basic Chinese takeout style comfort food. That said, the potstickers are in a league of their own, and I know people who come here just for them. The filling has great texture, the wrappers are never doughy, and the sauce is delicious (if you get these, put them in a bowl or eat them quickly, because they get cold fast, but it's totally worth it!). The green beans are snappy and fresh tasting, and sometimes some of the folks that work there are sitting at a table with a big pile of fresh green beans snapping the ends off, which I think is pretty cute. They have sauces, sprinkles and peanuts for your soft serve, and I love their almond cookies, which are pretty standard but have a nice big blanched almond half in the center. This would probably be a great place to take kids for their first try at American-style Chinese food. I've been eating here for about eight years. The food is consistent and it's always relaxing, speaking as someone who sometimes finds server interactions stressful. I see solo diners who come in with a book or newspaper almost every visit. As others have mentioned, beverages are self-serve (and included in the price), but the staff is very kind, everything is always clean, and you probably won't have dirty plates on your table for long. It might be worth remembering that while you may not have received much personal service, your table doesn't clean itself, which seems worth at least a small tip. read more

This will be the simplest and most pain free review I do for three stars. In light of that, here's three things I enjoy: 1. There's (2) mainstream ways to make shitty crab rangoons. The first, and the one I hate the most, is the simple fold over method. This is where some culinary artist piles imitation crab meat, cream cheese, and filler onto a flat wonton wrapper and folds it in half. Really? The other method would be to pile less of that white, creamy, excellence in the center of a smaller wonton wrapper and simple lift all four corners together creating a pouch. This method allows you to break off each corner as you see fit. There's probably other ways, but those are the only two that I give a shit about. Panda Garden does the latter of the two and it's marvelous. 2. Fill your own beverage. You want to spike your drink Mr. Panama Jack? Go right ahead, no one will be the wiser. 3. Szechuan beef that is both delicious and spicy, just like the creators of the Great Wall intended. Three things I dislike: 1. All the chicken entrees are swimming in gravy. Not even flavorful gravy. Lame. 2. Limited selection for a lunch buffet that sets you back eight cool ones. 3. The workers playing mahjong while I eat. My family and I have been going to this restaurant for over a decade. We are usually here every weekend on Sundays! It's one of our favorite Chinese buffets for many reasons. The dinner buffet averages to about $12/person. Even after eating a couple plates for dinner, we usually get a to-go box which is $4.99/lb so that we can enjoy for the next couple days. There's a couple dozen varieties of food (hold, cold, soups, deserts, salads, coffee, milk, ice cream) but less of a variety than you would see at the Teppanyaki buffets in the cities. My favorites at this buffet are the cream cheese wontons, chicken wings, noodles, green beans, potatoes, General Tso's, sweet and sour chicken, egg drop soup, wonton soup, fried rice, mussels, beef and broccoli, ...and I could go on!
