Wow. I can't believe I am giving Panda Express 4 stars. It wasn't because of the really hard fortune cookies. And it wasn't because of the so-so spring rolls- which, although hot and fresh, had a squishy interior. Maybe it's because I knew it would be chain-chinese-food? Maybe it's because it was late night and I was super hungry? Maybe it's because my food was hot and fresh? Maybe it's because they answered all my questions accurately? The food must have been sitting for awhile. It was not fresh. The beef in the Broccoli & Beef and in the Black Pepper Steak were tough. I could not eat the steak. The chow mein and string beans with chicken were not fresh. The only thing that was not overcooked was the broccoli. I ate what I could of the broccoli, chicken and chow mein and threw the rest away. We ordered 6 entrees in all and none of it was fresh. The food at this location is usually good, but after lousy food and service at the San Marcos location which we no longer go to, we will not be to the Vista location for quite awhile. I've eaten here many times in the past few years and the food is always consistent except, of course, for when they run out. I normally get the orange chicken and beijing beef as my main entree's in addition to fried rice and chow mein as my sides; they are all really good for being at a quick fast food spot. However, I dont think you can go wrong getting almost anything else here as I've tried the other entree's and they all seem to taste very good. The environment here is also very clean and the employees are always very nice. The only unfortunate part is that they sometimes run out of meats later in the night which has happened to me on several occasions. I'll get there within thirty minutes of them closing and they'll be out of a main entree dish which is somewhat understandable since they are closing soon, but at the same time I would think that they would keep their main dishes stocked until they close.. VERY disappointed portion size and "freshness". Been coming to this location for years BECAUSE of it's drive through with today's epidemic it's even better however .. I ordered the Steak & Angus knowingly well theres always an extra charge ... when I got home opened the box I was completely blown away by the portion paying the extra x 2 and the freshness of the food. It's difficult to not go to this Panda, it's on my way home. But will I ever lean my lesson. It's like they purposely always forget something. Today I spent $20 purchasing two meals via drive thru, among other items I ordered one side of veggie spring rolls and a side of cheese rangoons. The girl asks if I want the sweet and sour sauce, I say yes. It shouldn't even be a question. So I arrive home, and no sauce. I see it on the receipt though... I really want to stress at how I can't eat these sides without the sauce and 5 out of the 10 times I've probably been here they "forget" part of my order. I've seen countless cars assume there will be another entry to access the restaurant closer to it, around the corner, or behind but there is not. Panda Express never gets less than 3, and this location is a solid 4 as far as fast Asian food. You can count on it, compared to its niche competitors.
