My friend was in town and her favorite dessert is churro. She wanted somewhere authentic. I had no idea where to go but Yelp this place. It's in Vista. If you come from the 78, you can take a left and then park in their parking lot in the back, not the front. My car navigation told me to pass the lot and make a you turn. They have plenty parking in the back, don't park at the law firm. The place is small. It's also a taco shop. They have the churro machine that you see in Mexico City. The dough comes out and into the fryer. We ordered the churro bites, comes with about 14 bite size. It was perfect. It was fresh! Made to order. The sugar coating wasn't too much either. Eat it fresh! We were so tempted to get some tacos, especially the birria, but held back bc we were having dinner elsewhere. Next time for sure I'll try their tacos. Taco Tuesday's are $1.79 tacos! (Carne asada, Al pastor and pollo). I wonder how long the line is, it's a good deal.

It was sooo good we had to do a double take and took more people to come try their Churro and food! First time was thursday night after Legoland we wanted some more than nasty ass Legoland food. Then on Saturday after a day at the beach in Oceanside we decided to have lunch here! Service was spectacular. I meet the owner the first night. He was super friendly. I was telling him how we don't have much options on Churros back home. Everybody was coming in Night and day for their Churros. Come in and say hi and grab yourself some amazing Churro! This is chill cool spot! It's located in a busy corner street. Not alot sitting area but it will do. Did I mention that we will definitely be back when we are in town again!
Omg!! If you are around Escandido you must try this place!! We are from the Bay and this is the 2nd time we came here. After our Legoland trip we wanted we were craving real authentic churros and we found this place. We loved it!! Then, on our last day we brought my sister, BIL, and niece for late lunch after our beach day. We wanted to try their birria stuff ans Omgoodness we loved everything!!! So freaking delicious The pizza is a really good size. It comes with 4 consume. They are not stingy with their meat. We also had burrito and that was delicious too. We also had the torta and the my kids loved it and that we ordered 1 more to go. The service is amazing!! So friendly! You order in the counter and if you are eating in (outside table only) they will bring the food. It's great to enjoy the SD weather. A little loud cuz its next to the main street. There are parking in the side for their customers. I would want to come back here again, next time we visit SD.
This is the best churro in San Diego. They are dense, fresh, fluffy and they use just right amount of cinnamon. I got the basic one with caramel and chocolate dipping sauce, wow! The service is quick and they have Mexican food items outside of churros! It's a small family owned business with parking and seating options but we took it too go. I cant wait to come back!
This place is tucks away in a corner in Vista Village with some parking spots all around. I will say the service here is super nice, they gave us extra toppings on the side too. They were very friendly and service was quick. We ordered the modern churro which came with two toppings and ice cream. I really liked the churro but did not like the ice cream it came with. It was like a low quality soft serve. But the churro is great and I wish I would've gotten just the bag of churros! There aren't really any seats inside, so it's not much of a sit down place either for dessert.
Came in yesterday with my daughter because we were craving their delicious churros and ice cream!! They were soooo good!! Just enough to get you full! Very yummy!! Only paid $19 for the two!
Oh my goodness, my hubby took me here (he tried it for lunch one day while at work) the other day. My life hasn't been the same since. (and I'm not exaggerating) The Quesataco de Birria with their consommé (see my pic) is H-E-A-V-E-N Like I said in my pic, I started having cravings for more even BEFORE I got up from the table. Hubby had to coax me out of my chair. (You think I'm kidding??) The crunchy cheesy taco shell holds its crunch even with the juicy birria nestled inside and then you dip it in the consumé - oh .... my mouth is watering even as I type this. Inside the taco it's pretty simple - slow cooked birria topped with guacamole, cilantro, and onions. The consummé is literally the juice the birria was cooked in for so many hours. Oh man ... The ladies we've spoken with and ordered from the few times we've been there have always been so sweet and helpful. And they all work so hard! They're constantly cooking and are so proud of their food - giving us suggestions and their favorites. That's how I know what I know. After feeling like I couldn't top that lunch, hubs ordered churros with dipping sauces (because you HAVE to get churros at 'Modern Churro'!). KILL ME NOW! These things didn't see the light of day for long ... YUM!!! Their churro machine is beautiful (they bought it from Spain - yes, I asked) and super clean. They're made to order and have about 5 dipping sauces (dolce de Leche, caramel, chocolate, Nutella & lechera) to choose from. Need I say more? Soooo good. I'll stop there - I've done myself in describing all this and need to take a trip to Vista. Lol Need I say more? Go try Modern Churro! Like - TODAY.
This Churro and Mexican Food spot is located next to Rodeos Meat Market right on Vista Village Drive. They have a sweet and savory menu offering Mexican and Cuban inspired items. If you order their Churros, they are made to order. Seating is limited inside but they do have outdoor seating available. The service was good, the space was clean and the staff was friendly. Its not a large space but you can see everything that they prepare for customers. We ordered desserts to go and as soon as we got our Churros, they were hot and fresh and my son couldn't resist to take a bite of the Churro bites (not pictured) we ordered and it had a nice texture and flavor. We definitely would like to try their savory menu mext time as other customers who came in after us were ordering Tacos and Sandwiches.
Another one of those unexpected gems in Vista. It looks like The Modern Churro started off just offering Cuban Food and Churros however over time now offers a typical Taco Shop menu with an emphasis on Birria and Churros. The Birria itself was very tender, flavorful and moist. The churros of course were very good and fresh considering they fry it to order in a purpose made churro machine. I have to give a big shout out to the worker I had when I was there who I'm assuming was the owner. He made sure that everything was tasting good and that I was satisfied with everything.
Best dessert The Modern Churro! Soft serve with your choice of sauce, 2 toppings, and crispy churro. Omg!! The only minus is no seating on site.
Wow! That Cuban sandwich and fries were truly exceptional! Service was excellent with very friendly people. We shall be back!
Spanish Churros ($7.99) - These are some of the best churros I've ever had--definitely better than Disneyland's and Costco's. I loved how thick the churros were and the inside was nice and fluffy. It was perfectly coated with cinnamon and sugar and made such an excellent dessert. Highly recommend!

The best churros I've ever had, and they also serve tacos. I'll be back to try their tacos and more desserts. Service was great, and the atmosphere has mom-and-pop shop vibes with a very welcoming and clean feel. They also have both Spanish and Mexican style churros with dips you can get filled or on the side: caramel, dulce de leche, or chocolate. Both versions are tasty and come out fresh!! Don't skimp on the potato balls and sandwiches too. I just love this place. I also love that they have affogatos with a legit espresso machine. They use vanilla soft serve for their affogato, and it was delicious. I didn't even miss the traditional gelato aspect. read more
We came here on Mother's Day for dessert, after our brunch. I had heard good things and wanted to come and try it out. I love churros, and they make theirs fresh while you wait, which makes it so much better then getting a churro that's been sitting under a heater and drying out. They have several varieties of churros and different ways that you can order them. They also serve soft serve vanilla ice cream. We got the vanilla soft serve along with the bag of churros, which contains three of them. They came out piping hot and fresh, covered and that delicious cinnamon sugar. They were excellent and paired with the ice cream, it was a nice treat. The ice cream had a good texture but did taste a bit artificial, but i definitely still enjoyed it. Bottom line, of you look he churros this is your spot. They also serve food, which we unfortunately didn't get to try on this visit. They do have a small parking lot in the back and also some tables outside to sit on. read more

Churros here are amazing and my go to. Decided to give their mulitas a go since I haven't tried theirs out. Ordered 2 carne asada and both were gristle and fat and hardly any carne. Would not recommend the mulitas if you want meat. read more

Cute place! I love the heart shaped churros. I ment to get the modern churro, but got confused and got the churro Corazon. It was still very delicious! It comes with whip cream caramel drizzle and strawberries inside the heart churro. Service is good. They have seating outside. They also have food if you're not here for dessert. read more

Such a great first experience at Modern Churro Cafe in Vista! My husband stopped by wanting to try it out, and even though we had never been there before, the staff went out of their way to accommodate him with a smaller serving size so he could taste it. They absolutely didn't have to do that, but they did -- and that level of kindness really stood out to us. The churros were delicious, and the customer service alone makes us want to come back. We love supporting local spots that truly care about their customers. Highly recommend! read more

These churros are worth the stop! You literally watch the guy cook the churros in front of you and then get served straight to you- hot and fresh! The ice cream and churro combo is where it's at- haven't tried the food yet, but I will be back for that! read more

There's not many places that serve freshly made churros. This place was closed for a bit, but I'm glad they're back open. The open kitchen is neat because you can watch the workers make your churros so you know it's fresh. The service is pretty fast and friendly. They also offer espresso and other coffee beverages. I got an espresso with Spanish style churros on my most recent visit and it was amazing. The churros were fried to perfection and were not overly sweet and the espresso helped wash everything down. There's isn't a lot of seating as it's a really small space. That's the only real issue I see with Modern Churro. read more

So glad I found the Modern Churro while scrolling in Yelp. The reviews are accurate as their Cart churros tasted so authentic and brought me back to TJ! Service was fast and the churros freshly made to order. The sweet ladies helping us were nice and always had a smile! Definitely recommend going here for your churro fix. We'll be back to try their birria items too! read more
First, the staff here were all very friendly and accommodating while we were trying to figure out what we were having for lunch and dessert. The food was excellent and great portions. My Cuban sandwich was huge and delicious and hit off the griddle. The Birria was very tender and tasty. The desserts are so fresh...they make the churros fresh to order and the. You can customize any way you want. I can tell you there was nothing left but empty containers and full bellies! Will definitely come back again. No inside seating. It there are a few tables with chairs and umbrellas outside and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly! Please give them a try. You won't regret it! read more

Let's just say this...we went here 3 times last week (Twice on back to back days) and once this week...and the week isn't even over yet! We've been talking about this place to all of our friends and family and on all of our social media accounts! We met up with friends from out of town yesterday and someone mentioned getting dessert and I recommended The Modern Churro and they obliged! But I wanted it to be my treat. So, upon arriving one of the workers was like we got you hooked I see! And I was like, "HANDS DOWN, BEST CHURROS EVER!" And I also mentioned, "possibly better than Disneyland!" And the worker was like, "that's awesome!" I ended up ordering 4 orders of the Mexican Churro and 1 order of the Sweet Cream Cheese filled Churro to share with 10 people! My friends straight up devoured the churros! One even went after we met up and ordered a bag to go! We've been here a total of 5 times in 2 weeks...we have no problem driving the 13 miles (1 way) to get their churros! We have even ordered, empanadas (so so), Fried potato balls (yummy) and the Cuban sandwich (very tasty). Note, this spot is small with only a few seating outside...but don't fret, if you take the churros home they taste great even having to refrigerate them and throw them into the microwave or an air fryer to crispen them up! We will definitely be going here over and over again! read more
