    Posole..
    Mark Q.

I visited O-Side this last weekend. My buddy took me to this spot. I wanted some real Mexican food. We have Great Mexican food in Tucson, AZ, just needed to try something different. And they did not disappoint.. I had the Posole.... Wow.. really good and nice flavor. My buddies had the Carne Asada breakfast with eggs, rice, beans.. And the cut of Carne Asada was not small... They have a very big selection of Mexican pan del Dulce.... These ladies behind the counter were so nice and really efficient with getting the orders out with a smile. If you are ever in Oceanside.. (OSide) Hit this place up.. They will not disappoint..

Asada Street Taco ($2.89) - I loved the marinade and grill flavor of this asada. Definite preference for this taco. Adobada Street Taco ($2.89) - It's well spiced but their salsa roja outshined the meat. The salsa had great spice and flavor.

It was okay. It was large. It was cool you could customize your burrito, but the asada wasn't that good. Large shrimps though. I wouldn't come back.

The food was as delicious as it was beautiful.

La Perla Tapatia catered my husband's birthday party and did so brilliantly. We were a last minute client and, thus, were a bit frazzled. Jason from La Tapatia handled it all calmly and competently. The way he set up the food was beautiful and he thought of everything. He made it easy to have a great event. The food was delicious. The ingredients were fresh and the chef obviously is superb. Many guests raved about the guacamole, tortillas, birria, peppers, agua fresca, flan (oh my, the flan!), you name it. One guest even said, "this is the best romaine lettuce I've ever had." Needless to say, the party was a huge success! La Perla Tapatia is now our favorite Mexican restaurant. We've now eaten there several times and it's always a home run. And, if you need catering, Jason and team will over deliver.

Wow. And more wow. Was in the area doing errands and stoped in. So legit. The bakery. The meat counter. The restaurant. Soooo much to love. The atmos was great and relaxing. The food was incredible and the staff was very friendly. In the area, heading up or down The 5 you gotta stop in. Amazing.

La Perla came thru in a big way! 2 days before a birthday party, the local chain we had lined up to cater for 50 people ghosted us. On Thursday, I walked into La Perla at lunch time and talked to Jason who assured me they could handle the job for Saturday. Not only did they do an amazing job on short notice with delivering delicious tacos, veggies, fruit, chips, salsa, watermelon Fresca and cake, they did it for what other places were charging just for the tacos! Don't hesitate to book La Perla for your next party! Simply outstanding.

We seriously look forward to going to La Perla every week! Not one thing has been less than DELICIOUS! My whole family now comes here. The portions are huge and the quality of their meats is very high.

Everything was sooooooo good and well priced. No extra charge for guacamole, cant beat that! Very generous servings. Amazing bakery and the self serve bar is the best I've seen yet. 6/5 stars.

    Enchilada and Taco combo.

Was in the area and found this gem of a spot. Delicious. Daily priced with lots of options. Had the enchilada and taco combo. Nom nom. I think their tortillas were also made on the spot. So good. Will be back. Workers were really nice too.

1st time at La Perla Tapatía (5/24/2025), there is a variety to select from it to dine in or take-out. There is a small section of carnicería, (meat market) some fresh produce, tortillería and bakery. The place is nice and clean. Employees are welcoming and friendly. The service is good, I arrived after 11:00 am on a Saturday it was starting to get hectic. We ordered the carne asada large tacos. The taco beef is a generous portion with all the condiments as you like, pico de gallo, onions, cilantro, guacamole and fresh salsa. Or order a plain taco with the meat and go to the salsa bar add condiments at your choice. The meat is well seasoned and the tacos are double tortilla. Lastly, purchased bolillos, flour tortillas and fresh guacamole. This place sells agua frescas, sodas and beer. You can eat indoors or outdoors plenty of space to eat. Will definitely be back to try the menudo and other Mexican Antojitos (comfort food).

They have the best molcajete and fajitas around, at the best prices. We are here just to see if Cocina Del Mar is better. Long story short: it's not. However, their ceviche is AMAZING. Best ceviche I have had in north county San Diego outside of Dija Mara (which has the best ceviche in the known universe). It is extremely fresh and not overpowered by acidity, fishy smells or rubbery shrimp. The ceviche here is legit. Great. AND ONLY $10 (for cameron). If you order anything here, get the ceviche first. I'm anxious to try their aguachile now. We also ordered the fajitas ("suprema" with chicken, steak and shrimp). Fajitas did not come out sizzling at all. I have never seen this before. Also, there were only two shrimp. The steak/carne was bland and dry. Not great. Wife ordered the Sopes (3) and mother ordered the Enchiladas Cameron. The sopes were okay, but a bit bland. Wife had to salt everything on the plate. The enchiladas had a sauce my mom said was too sweet. She wasn't a fan. For all three dishes to be a miss is completely strange considering the sheer number of 5-star reviews. I want to believe. We must have come on an off-day, but the place was busy. Quite a few larger parties were here, so this place is popular with the natives. We also grabbed a Model and a Corona. Only $5 for the beers! Total for everything came to $117.64 (with tip). I would absolutely come back for the ceviche and to give them another shot by trying a different dish. I snapped pics of the menu so you can see the latest prices. Check it out.

As a Cali Native now living in…read morethe great state of Texas, sometimes it's refreshing to step outside the land of Tex‑Mex and get the real deal again. Colima's hits that spot every single time. When you walk in, the person behind the counter greets you immediately -- and not the dry "hi, what can I get you?" type of greeting. You get a full "¡Buenos días, mija!" with that warm, almost‑grito energy that makes you feel like you just walked into your tío's spot instead of a restaurant. Super friendly, super natural, and very SoCal. I ordered the rolled tacos plate and wow... esa porción estaba gigante. I couldn't finish it. What I loved most was the meat; this is what meat is supposed to taste like. The beef was seasoned the way we grew up eating it: a little salty, a little savory, with that slow‑cooked tenderness that lets you know it didn't come from some pre‑bagged, mystery‑meat situation. You get hints of garlic, a little cumin, and that warm, almost toasty flavor that comes from meat that's actually been browned, not steamed. It tasted like someone's abuela was in the back saying, "No, no, déjalo dorar un poquito más. And the corn tortillas? Perfect. Thin enough to get that crisp roll, thick enough not to shatter. None of that flour‑tortilla‑trying‑to‑be‑crispy nonsense. These were crunchy, flavorful, and loaded. The toppings were just as good. The guacamole tasted fresh. You could taste the real avocado which was creamy, a little chunky, with lime that actually tasted like lime and not concentrate. The red salsa had a legit kick to it. It had hints of roasted chiles, was smoky and had a slightly bitter edge that tells you they actually roasted them instead of just tossing raw peppers into a blender. It wasn't tourist spicy; it was SoCal Mexican‑restaurant spicy, which is a whole different category. My partner ordered a breakfast burrito and honestly? That thing could've fed three people. It was massive, stuffed to the brim with cheese, egg, potatoes, and fresh bacon and exactly what a SoCal breakfast burrito should be: simple, hearty, and no shortcuts. Between the portions, the flavor, and the service that feels like home, this spot stays on my list every time I'm in Oceanside. If you're craving real Mexican food and not Tex‑Mex, pull up. You'll leave full and happy. #supportlocal
