    5 Rolled Beef Tacos
    Bre R.

Really friendly and quick service! They have specials daily, I've been here now twice on a Wednesday and took advantage of 4 rolled tacos + drink for 11.99! Really great price considering how much it comes with! Rice, beans, best rolled tacos in town, guacamole, and cheese. This shop also has a huge salsa bar with tons of options including limes and jalapeños. I got Agua Fresca as my drink and it was delicious! Very clean restaurant with hard working staff. Will be returning.

    Really good!!

Saw they opened a new Valerie's close to the house and was happy to see until today. Not even close to the one by target/ mall. Half the size breakfast burritos and half the taste . Keeping this short and sweet. Make the drive 2.5 stars

    Taco Tuesday

I saw on their IG stories it was Taco Tuesday so I headed to Valerie's right after work. The staff that work there are nice and friendly. Service is expeditious. Food is delicious. I had the carne asada tacos, chips & salsa, and the watermelon agua Fresca. There is ample seating and the restaurant is clean. I recommend Valerie's for some good Mexican food! I'll be back!

After 20 years of servicing the community, Pollos Maria has closed down, and in its place we now have Valerie's Taco Shop. Valerie's Taco Shop is a chain Mexican Restaurant that has multiple locations over the city of Oceanside & nearby cities. Their menu consists of a variety of Mexican dishes and specializes in tacos. Valerie's Taco Shop has all of the aspects you'd expect in a chain Mexican restaurant. Valerie's is located in the Grove Place shopping center which is located just south of the 76 Hwy. This plaza is known for its Lowe's & Ralph's, but it's also home to a few restaurant gems in the back corner. Although there's a small courtyard in front with tables and a small fountain, most customers will either dine inside, or pick up their food to go. The interior is spacious and has small tables that seat up to 4 and can be combined to seat larger groups. The one feature I really miss is having booth seating available. Everything seems so "open" to me and doesn't allow for a sense of privacy. Note: Although the inside is incomplete, they expressed that there will be bar-seating for those who want to watch sports on their televisions. For those who love Al Pastor, you can see theirs being freshly cooked through the windowed prep room. Their huge jugs of Agua Frescas, made fresh daily, also sit on display in the front. I personally love the watermelon and the cucumber with mint, but Horchata is always a favorite. I enjoyed my El Pastor taco, and if their food is consistent across their other locations, I also presume that their El Jefé Taco to be a big hit too. I also appreciate that they have WiFi for customers, because this area is known as a signal deadzone for those seeking to work online. I also expect the prices here to be slightly higher than the average Mexican joint that stands alone and the reason why is their location. This shopping center appears to be plagued with high lease-costs and this forces businesses to charge higher in order to compensate. In the grand scheme of new businesses opening in Oceanside, I knew that a smaller business wouldn't open here, but I'm also glad that no mega chain (like Taco Bell) moved in. Overall, I think Valerie's Taco Shop may do well once they get the word out on their opening. Their menu pricing will be their disadvantage to their already established competitors, but the quality of their food is where they shine through.

Food is amazing and the employees are really nice too. I come here regularly. This is by far my favorite Mexican food spot.

This Taco shop has been open here for almost a year now & just wanted to share this photo of the salsa bar very tasty & variety of choices to pick from.

Three row taco , where's the presentation?

The service was lukewarm, food remains to be.... It replaced Pollos Maria, walked in to try out. Purchased a three row taco w/ chicken. The food was good

Came in for an early dinner and to try this place out. Have heard many things via social media…read more For starters, we got complimentary chips & salsa. The salsa was good IMO, though the rest of the table thought it was too spicy. For drinks we chose a Mexican Candy ($15) and Hibiscus Margarita ($14). They were okay. I think not really worth the price (barely any buzz). I'll probably stick with a beer next time but that's okay. For food, we ordered the Chile Relleno & Cheese Enchilada ($20), Queso Birria Taco Plate ($18) and for me, the Fajita Mixta ($26). Everyone liked their food. For me, I've had better fajitas elsewhere (Mariscos Hualtulco is my fav) but these were still good (except no green bell pepper for some reason). I noticed the *new* menu price for the fajitas was $29 (Mixta), but on the bill it was still $26 (old menu price). So be aware, the new price is coming obviously. I want to try the Molcajete but $38 is a stretch! Atmosphere was okay. It was a Saturday and although it was early, I expected a more vibrant feel, but maybe that comes later in the night. There was plenty of seating. Parking was okay, but the lot was oddly packed however even though the restaurant was not. I would come back to try something else on the menu, but with so many great Mexican options in our area, they need that extra something to attract more patrons. A happy hour with $10 margs for starters would be nice.

This place is great!…read more Wife and I came out on a date night to this local spot we've been trying to come to for months. It was on a Friday night, the place was packed, and difficult to find a spot to park. The line to order was almost out the door, but still fast to get through, and we were quick to choose what we wanted before struggling to find a spot to sit and talk. After about 15 minutes, our order was ready and we got to enjoy our food. We started with the Carne Asada Nachos, Refried Beans on the side. The meat was flavorful, very tender, and plentiful atop a pile of crisp and fresh tortilla chips. The cheese was nice and salty and the sour cream was warm to the point where it drizzled over it all nicely. All in all, it was a very tasty start to the night. The only two issues I had with it were that the guac was a bit overly pureed, making it kind of runny. And the refried beans had a very sour flavor, making me think that they were over the edge of going spoiled. I had to thank my wife's aversion to eating beans, helping us avoid having them spooned on top, which would have ruined this course. I also had an Al Pastor Taco, Craft Coast Style. The whole it was crisped up well, the cheese forming a great crust on the inside of the taco. The meat was sweetly marinaded, flavorful and delicious. On top of it was a good amount of beans, onions, cilantro, and guacamole, making for a good sized taco without any overflowing. It was pretty damn tasty. So, our first trip out here had more highs than lows, resulting in a very positive initial dinner. I'm sure those beans were just a one-off, at least I hope they were. And there's still hope that the guac may have had too much lime or had been overly mixed this time around. A second trip is definitely in the cards, with more of the family to expand what comes to the table.
