We went home. looked at our receipt. We called to ask question about the extra fee..they told us it was premium selection. I know that kitchen staff doesn't like late customers, but then again, business hours exist for a reason. And I'd only get Chow Mein or watch them eat. Then I saw the news plastered all over my vegan groups that there is now a Beyond Orange Chicken at every Austin Panda and I had to go!!! Always a fan of Panda Express. I am a bit picky though - if I do not see a fresh bowl of something, I will not order it as I have no idea how long it was out for under those lamps. This time I tried the 1/2 fried rice and 1/2 power greens with 2 entrees and my husband thought he could eat 3 entrees. The staff member who put together our plates hooked us up, I mean he literally piled it on our plates that as I looked in shock to see if my husband was ACTUALLY going to get 3 entrees, his eyes were bigger than mine. Needless to say - he did not get 3 but stuck with 2 like me. On to the food! I usually get the noodles and veggies, first time I tried the rice. Probably my least item here at this location - the fried rice was just bland - had a lot of bland fried rice. I absolutely love that they have Power Greens, not just broccoli. It consists of broccoli, kale, and cabbage if I remember correctly and it tasted fresh and was the perfect texture - not under cooked and not over cooked. My go to for an entree is usually the Chicken and Mushrooms, it was delicious - hot and fresh! I also enjoyed the Kung Pao Chicken with it and as the chicken and mushrooms - hot, fresh and tasty. Hubby had the Shanghai Angus Steak which he loved and the Chicken and Mushrooms which like me, he tends to order regularly. The Hubby ate all of his but I couldn't even eat half, all good though cause I enjoyed it the next day too. :) Good Customer Service, clean restaurant, delicious hot and fresh food. Came in here in between furniture shopping for a quick meal. First customers in the door. First thing I noticed was the manager (Judith) yawning. The lady serving our food was very polite and even asked how our meal as going. Glanced over to my boyfriend who asked for a glass of water and Judith just shrugged, not even a "no". Well alright then. That's very apathetic and seemed a little rude. Went to checkout - Soda machine was down. They do not offer water cups as they do not have running water. Well if that's the case they cannot and shouldn't be open for business so will be putting in a word with the health department to take a look. Some employees need a lesson in customer service here. Navigating the parking lot to get to this location is rather challenging, fair warning. Especially considering they are presently drive-thru exclusively. Our wait time wasn't too terrible however. The employee was actually thoughtful; when we ordered a kids meal with the honey walnut prawns, she warned us it would only contain four shrimp. Knowing this I chose to get it as a Panda Bowl instead. Gotta give big props to the taste this time too! Terrible service. Fountain drinks taste terrible. The rice tastes like nothing, I got the fried rice by the way. I had to change my fountain drink four times because there was no syrup in the fountain drink. When I told the lady she just shrugged her shoulders and walked off. Such rude staff. They got my order wrong through the drive thru (which took 20 minutes with three cars). When I said I did not want the "Bigger plate", I got it anyway. My husband and I had both our entrees mixed in one box. No separate second entree which I ordered. When I got home and called the store, the manager ARGUED with me extensively, saying that they gave me the bigger plate to save me money. That is not what I ordered, though. I eat here by myself, and I wear a hat and sunglasses to conceal my identity. The chow mein noodles and orange chicken are truly guilty pleasures. Panda doesn't have true Sichuan provenance, and it is Americanized, automated, and mass-produced. For some, that is too much to look past. For my $6 bucks or so, the chow mein and orange chicken taste pretty darn good. The locations are clean, and the service is about par for a fast food joint. The 3 stars go to their service. I only ever go through the drive-thru and I've only been a couple times, but when I do I've received decent service. The quality of food is sub-par. They've always gotten my order correct. $10 for a bowl with entree, side, and drink is a little steep for this quality of fast food. I think I'd rather order an entree from a non-fast food restaurant for that price. I stopped by this major Chinese national chain a few days ago for the first time. They are a walk in and eat and a drive thru Chinese fast food place. The have deals like a 2 or 3 plate entrée as well as what they call a Panda bowl or a Panda feast. You then choose your entrees for a three entrée plate you would choose any three entrees with one side of steamed or fried rice or chow mein or mixed vegetables. Additions will cost extra. The Panda feast is more for two or three people and is better for take out. I thought the place was nice and clean and the servers were good and did their job. Not really knowing what I wanted to eat I choose my 3 entrees and rice and sit in their inside seating and tried it. The entry I selected was a little too spicy for me. The other entrees were just OK. That said it may be good for a fast Chinese lunch or take home but not the best Chinese food in the area by far. So nothing was really bad but also nothing was really great, what else can I say, really? Some will like it more than others as in all restaurants we go to time and time again. Really love Panda Express itself, but this location is just not good. I've been three times now, and every single time has left me disappointed. The first two times, the employees gave me fried rice rather than steamed, which is pretty annoying considering that I personally hate fried rice. But tonight, though, was horrible. I was waiting in the drive thru line by 9:25 when an employee taped up a "We will be closing by 9:30 due to technical difficulties" sign on the speaker. That's understandable and all, but what about the people that were waiting in line before that sign came up? Do "technical difficulties" prevent the employees from cooking the food? Confusing. The girl at the window wasn't too friendly about it either. You're not supposed to serve a certain few and leave the four other cars stuck in line for 15 minutes.
