we hadn't been to the Petaluma location for a couple of years and it was always good. we had guests show up and needed a quick dinner for six adults and three kid. we ordered several large containers of various dishes like chow mein, orange chicken, black pepper steak, walnut chicken, and fried rice. all of the meat was dry and tough. Very little in the chow mein other than noodles. the walnut chicken had very little sauce and two small pieces of walnut at the bottom of the container. the spring rolls were fine and must be made elsewhere. I visited Panda Express about 1:45pm today for lunch. There were only two people in front of me but it still took over 10 minutes to place my order. There was only one server. I know it's not rush hour but an additional server would have helped greatly. The worst part was that the music was blasting so loud I had to repeat everything to the server and also ask her to repeat everything to me. Not pleasant. Finally after I was served I went to pick up a fork and found none in the self-serve area. I went back to the counter and asked the her for a fork, of course i had to repeat myself. She pointed at a box at the end of the self-serve counter and said "in the box". The food was OK, not incredible, but the whole experience was enough to put me off going back. read more

I've waited to write this review as I generally like to give a place a second, and in this case, a third try. The food is good, fine, whatever an appropriate adjective is to describe Chinese fast food. Delightfully mediocre? My issue is their service and speed. The first time I went in, I ordered what my normal order would be, a teriyaki chicken bowl with white rice. I waited 15 minutes. The second time, I waited 25 minutes. This time I tried to be smart and ordered it through their online system. It wasn't ready, and still I waited 15 minutes past the time it was scheduled to be ready for pick up. I'm extremely disappointed and annoyed. Just be prepared to wait for your food if you should choose to go. read more

Its pre cooked food. You put it in a box, you give it to the customer, customer pays and leaves. They put the food in the box, it sits on the countertop getting cold while the staff does anything but expedite the service. The cashier is not trained, just waits for the next food box regardless of what food is ready. I say something politely, cashier has glazed eyes. After 10 mins customer walks out pissed off. I usually like Panda Express. I love their orange chicken. When I lived in Bakersfield, I would go there all the time. Since I moved to Petaluma, I would have to say that this location could be improved. The quality of the food is just not as good. Usually the flavors are better, but this location is lacking in that department. I gave them 3 stars, because the staff for the most part are nice, just the food itself would bring it only a 2 star rating. read more

Worst service ever!! Took 30mins to get to the front of the line becomes they work so slow here. The manager is a micro manager!! He watches each food scope and tells the person too much, or too little slowing the process way down. The soda machine ran out of ice and the manager said they don't have anymore ice that was the last batch. The person taking your credit card again didn't know how to do anything and the micro manager had to come over and over view and make sure she was inputting the food correctly. Went there for lunch earlier today. I ate my food as soon as I got home, still hot. Only a few minutes after I ordered it. It didn't taste bad but something didn't taste quite right so I stopped eating it. About two hours later, I got very sick and have been all evening. I will not go back here. read more

First of all, you'll not go here for the decor! This is an EXPRESS restaurant and you go for the food. Very good quick, Chinese food. Sometimes though they run out and must cook more, which means you must wait up to 15 minutes. Not quick! The Teriyaki Chicken is their best dish, along with either noodles or rice. Tou do have options, especially if you want more veggies. But they are crisp, not cooked near enough for me. The Orange Chicken Is SPICY/HOT. Not for kids or most adults. Beware, it will burn your tongue. A lot of menu items are Spicy. Get plenty to drink. Good for a quick meal. Seating area is limited. You're suppose to get your food and leave. I have read some of the comments regarding service. Granted, there are lines sometimes, but that shows how many people come in for food. Generally, we don't have to wait more than 10 minutes to be served. We were served by Blanca and Fabiola. They are both friendly and efficient in their dealings with customers. I sent a visiting friend to pick up 3 dual choice orders dinner, plus extras. When we got the food it was shockingly dissappointing. Very measley portions, more like skimpy. THE WORST STINGY SERVINGS we have ever experienced from a Panda Express. The chowmein was not freshley cooked, but dried out from over heating, as if it had beed sitting for hrs. The orange chicken was also sparce not enough to a grown man. The walnut chicken was just three maybe 4 pieces yet they charge extra forr that. This is not an exaggeration but literally three of us witnessed this take out order and will never go back!!! If you are hungry for kiddie meal portions and like paying full price, good luck. I absolutely LOVE eating at Panda Express, especially the Orange Chicken, but it is a hit or miss on it being fresh. The staff seems miserable, the lines are always super long, and it takes forever to get served. The tables always seem to be dirty, so I always take mine to go. The prices are kind of a rip off too, but I still like to treat myself to it every now and again. Whenever I go, I insist on tasting what I plan to order, and if it doesn't taste fresh, I insist on waiting for the next batch, which is usually done within 10 minutes of me ordering. read more

This review is about Store #0648 on McDowell Blvd. in Petaluma CA. This is the absolute WORST place to eat that I have been to in Sonoma County. The owner and Manager of this place must be a Drunk, a Drug Addict, or just plain Stupid! There is no way they can ever say this place is operating to satisfactory conditions, Just look at all the crappy reviews here. I have been there 4 times since I moved to Petaluma 16 months ago. The first time I went there at about 6:45 pm. took about 15 minutes to get my food since nothing was ready, only the fried rice was ready. The second time I went there with my Girlfriend at about 7:30pm we walked out because they were missing approx. 40% of the food and the food that was there looked like it was hours old, gross! We drove to Rohnert Park just to have Panda Express, they have it together there. The 3rd time we went there about 1:30pm I thought those other 2 times must have been really bad luck. But, we were ready to walk out again (and should have) because the few items that were ready didn't look fresh. I said lets order stuff they are out of so they will have to cook it and we'll get it fresh. Again, that took about another 15 to 20 minutes to finally get served. And today, 10-20-2015, was the worst I ever seen. I was getting two plates to go. If you order something that isn't ready they set your to-go-box aside and help the next customer until your order is ready. After sitting there for 10 minutes I counted the to-go-boxes sitting on the counter and there was FOURTEEN of them! They only had two cooks. And they work very slow. The lobby was full of people waiting. One of the cooks then cleaned his wok an disappeared! He just left... The other cooked dropped something, twice, and was sweeping it up. Lots of people waiting and nothing, and I mean NOTHING was being cooked. Finally Orange Chicken got cooked. I told the girl Sandra C. "forget the Kung Pao Chicken, can I please have some of that Orange Chicken instead". This time I waited almost 20 minutes and didn't even get what I ordered. This place sucks. The Manager sucks. The Owner of this place sucks. It's not like I am asking for something for free here. I not trying to get some sort of hand out or freebie. I'm PAYING! Go to Santa Rosa or Rohnert Park. You'll see them cooking and flipping food like crazy, flames flaring up and everything. It's actually entertaining to watch. As much as I usually dislike chain restaurants (over-salty, over-fatty food), I really enjoy Panda. It is consistently fresh, not greasy, no fat on the meat, and the vegetables are crisp and fresh. I generally get Kung Pao chicken, and broccoli beef or chicken and string beans or mushrooms. I LOVE the addition of the steamed veggie "side" option. I usually get 1/2 brown rice and 1/2 veggies for my side! read more

My husband and I were looking for something out of the bun. We decided to come here, the place is clean, restrooms are clean, their food on the other hand..the fried rice looked like day old rice, there were not that many items to choose from, the skimpy so called chow mein looked like top ramen. I mean come on now, really? The guy that was helping us really skimped on the portions and the asian lady there was hella fucken rude, so my husband and I decided we'll have them make these plates and ring up the prices and at the last minute we'll decide we don't want it. So...... The chow mein was gross... It was VERY Dry, which made it hard to swallow. After the 3rd or so fork I put in my mouth I was done! It was inedible !! Also the fried rice... Being a parent comes with sacrifice , as all parents know..one of those is going to fast food places on occasion. Living in Petaluma we have lots of great Chinese food places..Lily Kai is one of our favorites, but having said that we do from time to time get looped into taking the kids for their orange chicken fix, since they are addicted to it for some reason. This location we used to go to and have no issues. recently though there seems to have been a change and not for the better. first off - the way that they serve the food is not efficient and causes mix ups. also there is never enough staff. when you walk in and start your order, usually one person starts with the sides and then either starts to scoop up the main entrees or writes them down and passes off to someone else, and then maybe the first person or anther finishes up and checks you out.. with all this back and forth the last few times we take out a 3 item meal we get short changed a small box or its wrong.. they are working so mis managed that everything is hard to keep track of.. I've had to slow them down and insist i see every box to avoid their errors. if they would have sufficient staff and have one person see your meal all the way thru I think this would avoid these type of mistakes 2nd issue is portion size.. the main dishes all have the spoons, so they are pretty much all equal, but the sides are always different. we get 4 or 5 people going and we all end up with different sized portions of chow mien, rice etc..they need a better way to manage. 3rd issue is food consistency. the fried type dishes tend to vary a lot.,.sometimes they are hot , fresh and moist, and other times they are dried out, hard and tough. please keep it equal some how.. after all its's fast food and it should have some sort of consistent way to make it over all a last resort place to go. the 2 stars is for the fact that the kids are please with the orange chicken and it satisfies them. I've learned to pick up better Chinese food elsewhere for my wife and my self and let the kids eat Panda. read more

Been there again and more staff but more chatter and training of new help, during busy times not a good choice. Customers are treated as Second and third class citizens, and you are treated as though they are doing you a favor by being there. This was the worst place that we have been. There was no food and everyone had to wait 10 minutes or more for food. Then they would put the bee food in the old serving bowls. The cream cheese rangoon were cold and there was no sweet and sour sauce. The soda machine was broken. There was no ice and only one flavor of soda but no one said anything. Even after buying the soda they never said it was broken. Just was not a very good lunch and not what you usually get at a panda Express. I would not recommend this location. read more
