It is mass produced, fast food Chinese, so it is about what you would expect. I went between giving three and four stars but went with three simply because of the inconsistencies in quality and service. There are a variety of entree options and you can choose one, two or three entree meals. They also have family meals (honestly, these are a really good value). They do let you sample items to see if you would like it. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of the items have a very similar flavor. Not bad by any means, but just not that distinguishable from other options. If the food is freshly made, it is usually pretty good. Decent amount of sauce and juicy. But if it has been sitting around, it shows. It can be really dry and lack flavor. If you order in store, they can and will make a fresh batch if it is really low or old, but if you order through the drive through, you have no idea what the quality might be. Overall, not a bad place, but with several locally owned options that can usually have meals ready in 10-15 minutes, I recommend going to one of those instead of here. read more

Panda Express has been in Pgh for decades BUT was only at the mall at South Hills Village until the stand alone stores opened across the suburbs. And as long as you know exactly what Panda Express is - this place is perfect except that they are always understaffed. This store is clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Food is loved by my kiddo. And for a Panda Express, they are on top of getting meals prepared fresh and out the door in 10 minutes. Anyone who knows PE understands they make fresh food constantly. Sometimes there's a small wait. 5 minutes to make something. My kids LOVE this stuff (and the little one "hates" Chinese food) We have regular items that are favorites. Depending if the entire family is eating or just 1-2 people, our orders vary. My kids like the kids meals that are a main, side & come w a drink & sliced fruit. It's a deal for $7.00 . I'd it's just myself and a kid. I get them the kids meal and get myself the build a plate w 2 entrees. It's $10. And is a lot of food. I usually get the super greens with pepper chicken and string beans chicken. Or will get the $9 bowl that comes w 1 entree and a side. I choose noodles and teriyaki chicken. My husband varies in what he likes. He likes everything, truth be told. Orange chicken is probably the most popular item amongst us all. On family nights- I get take out. Again, the wait is always long here. The one downside. The prices are moderate. Bowls are $9. Plates 11. And the family meals under $40. If you are looking for gourmet food - might want to save the sub-3 star reviews. Inside was fairly clean, ordering process was pretty straightforward, as i ordered a plate with white rice, beef broccoli and an egg roll. The last time I had Panda Express was inside an amusement park years ago. That is because, until recently, Panda Express was not available in the Pittsburgh area. That all changed recently and they have popped up all over the area and people I know were shouting their praises. But much like Chipotle, I waited to try them out. Because that experience years before was not the most pleasing...but again, it was inside an amusement park. I have been trying to try 'new to me' places when it comes to my lunch for work. Those places could be your regular run of the mill national chain, such as this, or your local favorite hole in the wall. Since I drove this way for work, I decided just drive through Monroeville and see what's available. A lot of the fast food fare joints had lines for the drive thru and I just wanted something where there was no wait. Honestly, there was no one in line here, so I just drove right up to the menu and literally had to ask them to give me a minute because I had no idea what I wanted. Do yourself a favor here, get yourself a plate. That way, for a little bit more money wise, you get to try two things at once. Or go for the bigger plate and try three at once. I got the plate and went with the Original Orange Chicken and the SweetFire Chicken Breast. Also decided on the fried rice. A decent size portion of both and the rice was just the right amount. I got myself the large drink, which to me was a bucket. I did not get a side, wished I would have, but I wasn't in tune with the menu and just skipped over that part. But I do have to say that I enjoyed the bit of a spice kick the orange chicken had and the mix of vegetables with the sweetfire chicken breast made it feel like and well rounded meal. Nice, convenient option when the normal fast food options are not desired. Entree choices are plentiful, and taste samples are kindly offered. Most of the choices are far from qualifying as healthy eating, but you might find a few basics. I observed heavy usage of deep fryers . Some of the entrees come frozen and are then dumped right into the fryer. They list caloric info next to each item. Some of the entrees were very dried out and needed to be rescued from the heat lamp. Supportive staff, and a comfortable dining space contribute to the postive points. Lots of "thank-yous "and "pleases"were heard between each staff member. New stand-alone chain restaurant in Monroeville on William Penn Highway (US 22) where the Sunrise Inn stood before being demolished for this new building and parking lot. It's clean, has plenty of parking, staff is friendly. As with the other models for this chain, you go through a line, pick your items from the selection along the line, the staff places the items on your plate and you pay at the end of the line. I chose a 2 item entrée with white rice -- angus beef and veggies and a spicy peanut/chicken dish. Please note the smaller print on the white board -- the prices all state "STARTING AT". I found that bit of a surprise and irritatingly so when the staff let me know that the angus beef was more than 1.00 extra from the "Starting Price". I wonder what one gets for the "Starting Price". Just a Customer Relations issue that comes across negative to me, the customer. Just price each dish individually if that's how you're gonna play the game so there are no surprises to me, your customer. Anyway, the visuals of the dishes are good -- very colorful and full of veggies. The taste was decent, as well. The price? Eh, ok -- $12.18 total bill for 2 items, rice, and a medium drink. First visit to Panda Express. The first person at the counter taking our order, was friendly and very nice, we told her it was our first visit and she offered us a sample of a main dish if we wanted. Not to many places offer that. The second person as our plate was passed down the line was just as friendly. I enjoyed the Teriyaki Chicken, fried rice and spring roll on the whole. They serve PepsiCo products, so I was able to get my raspberry ice tea ! Ok negative ... it wasn't the best part of the chicken. I cut away most of the ends. I will try something different next time. Two bad experiences in less than a week. First time, I went in for a pick up and was completely ignored. Like two people walked right by me without DOING THEIR JOB. Went there for the first time today. The lines were backed up and although there seemed to Be probably 8 persons on duty it was still understaffed. The workers seemed miserable as though they were working during the super bowl. I wasn't warmly welcomed and I didn't get a smile from anyone. I ordered the largest plate but was given a medium. The first time I went was in May when they had their grand opening in Monroeville. I was really excited because I don't know of any others even within a couple hours of Pittsburgh! The food was fresh and all of the entrees and sides are readily available. I really appreciated the complementary bowl when you used the coupon code for the grand opening. I ordered here via Uber Eats during my lunch break at work. I ordered the meal plate with one large side and 2 entrees consisting of the fried rice, honey sesame chicken breast, and the kung pao chicken. Upon receiving my order, there was no soy sauce in the bag which left the fried rice extremely dry. In addition, the rice itself was bland and wasn't memorable. The honey sesame chicken breast strips were ok, but I think they would be much better if eaten cooked fresh. The kung pao chicken was TERRIBLE. 90% of the chicken was fatty to the point of needing spit out, and sat in a large amount of oil which made my stomach turn. The best part of the entire meal was the red and yellow peppers and the zucchini that accompanied the kung pao chicken. Would not recommend read more
