I must say the food at Panda Express in Blacksburg, VA, has improved so much. For a while, it had gotten so bad that we actually went to the Christiansburg location instead. However, the last few times I've ordered from the Blacksburg location, I've been pleasantly surprised. Went here for a quick slightly late lunch and I would rate this a solid 3 stars but am giving this review a 1 star bump for the sole reason that this place is serious about its covid precautions and practices - and these days, that is ABSOLUTELY SAYING SOMETHING (POSITIVE)! The food was decent - nothing to write home about but classic Panda Express fare - the dishes all looked pretty fresh and the ones we chose to order tasted fine. Portion sizes were pretty good - they didn't skimp which we appreciated. And the meal value (what we got for what we paid) was also not bad. Walking into the restaurant, it's impressively clean. Masks are required for both employees and customers. There are signs posted everywhere with covid related instructions. Directional signs are marked on the floor and no inside table seating available at all, not a one. Even their outside table seating is not available. Wish they would re-think that one. So - it's carry out only. Cafeteria-style service. This location has a drive thru which seemed to have steady throughput - hopefully a good sign the food turns over regularly and is not sitting around. Attentive, friendly, helpful staff. We experienced no wait and there weren't many customers in the place anyway but the staff seemed to move the line along quickly. Still not a single vegetarian entree, despite giving all the bullshit marketing-speak about serving tofu. That was a few years ago. Vegetarianism isn't uncommon, and their site showed a tofu dish. I just don't believe that any product development or market research takes this long. read more

I am an operations director in town monthly for a nearby retail location. Every time I come here the vibe is like a funeral. The staff looks unhappy, they get yelled at by mngmt on the floor and the food was mediocre. Yesterday and today though, I've been coming here and things have REALLY TURNED AROUND!!! There's a Hispanic guy in here literally running around multi tasking like his hair's on fire IN A GOOD WAY! He's awesome, friendly, efficient, and on top of EVERYTHING. He's at the drive thru, he's at the register, he's gettin the food, he's being hospitable etc. Best part is it's genuine! Staff seems present and hard working and the food tastes much better! Being the only Panda Express in Blacksburg, a lot of people grab the plate served with fried rice or chow mien with any type of entree (chicken, beef or any sea food). The food has got the tasty asian aroma with a bright fortune cookie. The food is very filling for the price! However when it is too crowded the employees end up stuffing good. I placed an order on 01.03.22 at 7:11pm, for pick up at 8pm. The store hours are shown on Google maps, the website, and the building as being 10:30pm. I arrive at 8:04 to pick up my order, and the door is locked. I go around through the drive through, and the speaker says it's closed. I pull up to the window, and am ignored. So finally I call, and I'm told "Oh, we're sorry, we closed at 8pm. Our online orders were supposed to turn off at 7pm, but a few orders still made it through." Only a few orders made it through, which clearly has my phone number, and yet not a single person thought to call and tell me? This is completely unacceptable. 1000% unacceptable. I just finished a 14 hour drive home for a work conference, where practically everything in the area is closed, and the food I ordered was from a business that said fuck the store hours, closed, and said nothing. On top of that, they tell me I have to go through whatever I ordered from to get my refund. I ordered through the website, using guest check out. Guess it'll be a charge back then? This is completely unacceptable. Had they called me, seeing as the order has my phone number on it, I'd have been fine. Plenty of time to order from elsewhere. Not calling means you've permanently lost me as a customer. I'm not dealing with this locations bullshit ever again. read more

Mixed sometimes it super good and sometimes its cold. I went today and I had the honey walnut shrimp and orange chicken plate. I know the shrimp was extra but last time I ordered it it cam in the bowl today it came in an extra box. The egg roll I ordered was thrown into the box instead of being wrapped in paper like it usually is. Today it also seemed like it was thrown in with no care. Possibly the worst Panda Express I've ever been to. Absolutely trash service, takes about 30 minutes to get a plate without anyone in line and no one greets you or acknowledges you in line. I was just here and the person in front of me and i both walked out because of how long they took. My family just tried the Panda Express on Price Fork Rd in Blacksburg. I wasn't too sure how the food would be since it's a "pickup joint." When my son brought in the bags I couldn't believe how much food there was and I started thinking that we might have gotten part of someone's order. The food was excellent with the right amount of seasonings/spiciness. We had the BEIJING BEEF; Crispy beef, bell peppers and onions in a sweet-tangy sauce. Excellent this is my new favorite! Sweet fire chicken breast; Crispy, white-meat chicken, red bell peppers, onions and pineapples in a bright and sweet chili sauce. KUNG PAO CHICKEN; Szechwan-inspired dish with chicken, peanuts and vegetables, finished with chili peppers. Our side orders were fried rice and Chinese mixed vegetables. Everything was excellent and there was enough left for snacking. The prices are right we got the Family Special which was 3 entrees and 2 sides. I almost forgot about the fortune cookies which I didn't get because the boys grabbed them first! Very happy with the food and will definitely be ordering again and let all our friends know! Considering the current climate of the world we live in I think that the staff at Panda Express are doing a very good job. The people working the line were friendly and fast. I didn't mind having to wait for fresh chicken for my dish because I knew it was worth that wait. The only downside to the visit wasn't due to anything that the employees at the store did nor was it the food that was at fault. It was another customer and his family who were the issue. I believed that the crew member handled the situation well but the consumer not so much. He grew angry fast when he was informed that his teenage son needed to leave the store because he wasn't wearing a face mask and he began to rant and act a fool -typical Ken behavior. I thought, honestly, the young man behind the counter handled it well and remained calm despite the hot head throwing a temper tantrum like a toddler in need of a diaper change. I went to the Prices Fork Location and the dine-in restaurant was closed 20 minutes before the listed closing time and then my friends and I were blatantly ignored in the drive thru, after we saw the drive thru employees actively serving people through the entrance door. I am appalled by this experience, I will not be going back any time soon. read more

Have no clue what customer service is. Went through the drive threw because I wanted my food quickly. I ordered and then came around to pay and waited a good 3mins before I was even acknowledged by the attendant and then she told me it'd be a 2-3 mins wait to get what I wanted so I said fine. 15mins later still waiting for my food, 10 cars waiting behind me, and multiple attempts to get attendants attention but ignored the attendant finally sees me trying get her attention and I tell her to get me something else and that I need to go. She makes someone else's order first and then makes mine and finally gives it to me. Customer service extremely lacking here. Would not have ordered if it would have taken so long. read more

I work at the hotel behind the Prices Fork location. I go here often as well as recommend it to our guests that stay at the hotel. The last few times I have eaten there it has been terrible!!!! I normally order online and walk over to pick it up a little after the time I was told it would be done only to find that my ticket hasn't even been looked at yet. That happened several times. I completely understand during a "rush" and getting busy, so the last time I got food from this location I went through the drive thru (even though I could literally just walk out of the hotel's backdoor right in to the restaurant), I didn't have a lot of time to wait. Well, it was about 9:30pm on a Tuesday night and I ordered a bowl. The girl never once said 'sorry we are running low on that' or 'sorry we're out' instead I got a bowl that was less than half full! So I just paid $7.00 for about five bites of food. I work very hard to make my money and that was just a waist! Waist of my time and my money!!!!! The girl that took my order was very nice and that is probably the only positive I can say about this location and truly the only reason I am giving this location one star. This is a familiar chain with ingredients that seem fresh. There is, however, NO TOFU here, ever, nor are there any other non-meat sources of protein. Do Americans eat too little greasy, battered animal flesh? Is tofu too costly to offer at the above-average fast food prices of this establishment? I was told that tofu is never offered at THIS Panda Express, situated next to a campus of 30,000 students, hundreds of whom come directly from China. So: the place seems clean and friendly, though it's right next to a smoothie chain known for spreading hepatitis through imported strawberries; the mix of bland veggies, noodles, and brown rice I got went down OK with two packets of chili sauce; but there is no way at all to get a balanced vegetarian meal at THIS Panda Express. read more

My experience at this panda express in the pat has been positive overall but this recent visit has made me rethink my opinion. Its not necessarily the restaurant but the fact that the restaurant would hire a person like the cashier/server who rang me up. She asked me to wait for the beijing beef and so I waited. 5 minutes pass and i see the food ready and on the line but it seemed like the cashier/server had forgotten as she was busy with other customers. I let her finish with the remaining customers but 10 min later i still dont have my food. I had already paid 15 minutes before and was waiting for them to serve my food. When I finally go up and ask her about my food after 20 minutes, she gives me a dirty look and tries to get me to pay again. I tell her i had already paid and show her my receipt. She gave me another dirty look and just turned away. Overall this has been my worst experience at a panda express. read more
