I can see why when I lived and went to school here in Radford I never visited this place. That was 10yrs ago!! I'm surprised this place is still running. After being in a cultured city and having real, authentic Asian cuisine, this food was a disgrace to the Asian culture!! I ordered beef and broccoli, fried rice, dumplings, cream cheese wontons!!! The food was horrible. The beef and broccoli was chewy and had no flavor. The broccoli tasted like it had gone bad. The chicken in the fried rice tasted spoiled and it looked weird. Every item in the fried rice looked rancid. We should've went to Panda Express and gotten the mall food Chinese!!! Pay attention to the reviews. I am very leery about eating from ethnic restaurants in small towns. The reviews are usually done by the locals that have never experienced cultured cuisines. I'm praying I don't get sick! read more

Got takeout and it was incredibly decent. It's your standard Chinese American fare, and if that's what you're looking for, you're in luck. Got beef and broccoli and General Tso's chicken, with fried dumplings. I ordered the vegetable fried rice and beef lo mein, for dessert I ordered the donuts. I will start with a positive, the donuts are very good. The fried rice taste horrible it's worse than rice in a run down hospital. The rice is yellow and has big vegetables in it, broccoli, water chestnuts, A little bit of carrots, tons of weird looking mushrooms and little corn on the cob's. It taste horrible and has a smell to it. The beef lo mein or generic noodles spaghetti like with little chunks of beef that taste like something you would want to feed your dog. I absolutely love this place. The food was very good, not too greasy. I've never had chicken sticks like the ones here. I was a bit shocked by the flavor because I was just expecting fried chicken sticks, but theirs is really good. The Singapore chow mein fun is everything. I had some special requests and they didn't hesitate to hook me up. I love this place, all of their customers seemed like regulars. Very good customer service. It offers what other Chinese food restaurants in the area offer, but the vegetables taste fresher and the sauces, lighter. They will prepare each meal without sauce if you are trying to watch your sodium intake or have a gluten-intolerance. We have tried many different types of dishes like chicken, pork, beef, and bean curd. Prices are extremely affordable and generously portioned. We love any of the veggie dishes with steamed rice and the Chicken Chow Ho Fun is extremely addictive! So good! I didn't order any food from here, but thought my roommate did so I took it at the door. turns out it wasn't her food. the guy that delivered it to us came back and started pounding on our door and yelling at me. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise, especially in such a small place in a shopping center. It is definitely low frills. It is not fast food or a buffet, so I had to wait for maybe 25 more minutes for my food. Understandable given that I came in at a slow hour (2:30 pm), and the only staff was the cook and the counter person. I had Moo Shu pork, which was very tasty and the ingredients were fresh. The fried rice was okay, with the right amount of chewiness. They had lunch specials which included soup options but not an egg roll (apparently sold separately). I heard a truck driver who said he comes through Radford regularly said it was the best food he had ever eaten in this town. I am not sure what he ordered, but it looked like beef. I would agree that it was very good, and will be coming back for more periodically when I visit Radford. So keep in mind this if not fast food, despite its no-frills setting. Wow this place is really good! I'm on a diet and it's great because they have a whole special diet section. I always get the steamed chicken and broccoli or steamed shrimp and broccoli and they give you a choice for 3 different sauces that come on the side (garlic, red bean, and brown) and I always get the garlic sauce. Its better than most in the area. Hunan House still best. I eat at fun Lin's last night. I the shrimp me I fun. Its rice noodles, not enough sauce or flavor. Just plate full plain noodles. I got chicken cashew, always a go to! It was better than king buffet but still lack that flavor we crave. I think flavor matters when it comes to Chinese food other than that they are just veggies! The real issue with this place is the person who answers the phone (same lady every day). She has no idea what proper phone etiquette is and treats each call as if it was an annoyance and not the source of in-come. Then when your food arrives the rice is under cooked and both the General Tso's Chicken and Orange Chicken have a terrible sauce that doesn't resemble any other sauce I have experienced at other Chinese take-out restaurants. The sad thing is if a few recipes were modified and the folks answering the phone were pleasant this wouldn't be a bad restaurant. read more

After reading all of the five star reviews, I knew I had to try this place. Because of it's almost cult-like following in Radford, I almost feel bad for calling it anything other than stellar. However, I must be honest in my review and I just don't think it quite earned that fifth star. I ordered the hot & sour soup, fried dumplings, and the General Tso's chicken combination that came with pork fried rice, an egg roll, and a soda. I'll give you my thoughts on each so that I can describe exactly why I'm giving it a great, but not perfect, rating. The hot & sour soup had an excellent broth that easily ranks among the best soup bases I've ever tasted. It contained tofu, egg, and bamboo shoots, all of which were in great abundance. there was no skimping on the ingredients it contained. My only issue with the soup was that it wasn't totally what I was expecting. Most places include strips of pork and mushrooms in the hot & sour, but no trace of these was to be found. I accept that it's simply how they do things here at this restaurant, so I'm not deducting any points just because the soup wasn't how I was used to it being prepared. It was still very tasty and an instant favorite that I will certainly order again. The dumplings, which are available fried or boiled, come 10 to an order and are served with a simple, soy-based dipping sauce. I opted for the fried variety as I like the blend of textures you get with such a dumpling. The filling was good, if maybe a little sparse, and the sauce was very flavorful. The egg roll was the first disappointing thing that I tried. It wasn't as crispy as you would expect an egg roll to be and because of this, it was a bit chewy. The filling was very bland, as was the wrapper. I doused mine in both soy and duck sauce just to give it some flavor. If I get another combo from this place, I would probably eat the roll that came with it, but I wouldn't order them separately by any means. The pork fried rice was average. It had the usual suspects of small bits of pork, carrot, and peas. I found it to be a bit plain and you could taste a bit of the scorched oil in it, but it was still enjoyable once I mixed in some soy and duck sauce. Now, on to the main attraction, the General Tso's chicken. I know that most places do this dish in a similar fashion, and this place is no exception. However, there was something about this particular specimen that stood out from all others I have had. The crispy coating on the chicken was absolutely phenomenal. It was like a cross between the usual starch-dredged chicken and the batter-dipped variety commonly used in sweet & sour chicken. I'm seriously wondering if they make some sort of light batter rather than dredging the pieces of meat. It was supple and tender on the inside, but had a unique airy and crispy coating on it that was wonderful. The sauce was sweet and tangy, as one might expect, but unfortunately had no trace of heat to it. (This was kind of disappointing because I love my General Tso's to be very spicy. Again, though, that is personal preference and doesn't affect my rating.) Overall, it was a very nice dish. I honestly can't get over that unique crunch of the chicken. I like to try different things from the new places I try, but it will be hard for me not to order this dish again next time. Overall, my experience at Fu Lin was a very good one. The only things that bothered me were the sub-par egg roll and the relatively bland fried rice. The soup, dumplings, and entree were all phenomenal, though, so I'll only deduct one star for the things that were less-than-enjoyable. If you're in Radford, definitely give this place a shot. I swear, it is worth it, especially if you get the General Tso's or hot & sour soup. read more

Fu Lin is our absolute favorite delivery place! They typically deliver under 15 minutes- which is crazy impressive! The delivery drivers are always extremely polite. The food is good! The main dishes I've ordered here have been great! I have eaten here when it was the old panda and still eat here since it has become fu lin. The young lady who greets me everytime I pick up my meal is nice and awesome. She actually remembered who I was after just my second visit! The food was hot.. Tasted great.. Authentic.. But just one thing kept this place from a 5 star review. I love my Wonton soup, and the soup here tasted rather bland and light on flavor. It was watered down.. The delivery driver was super sweet! I got shrimp and mushrooms. The shrimp were abundant and very fat and juicy. However, the wonton soup was overly salty and rather bland. The delivery here is really good. Definitely get hot food. I use to order once a week, but the best manager they had, left for the second time..... since then the quality of the food has gone down. When I order delivery I usually get around $40+. My last order was closer to $50. They forgot the MAIN SAUCE that I asked and PAID FOR, so I called and he, whoever it was, said, "NO WE CAN'T DO THAT!!! I PAID FOR IT..... Well, I guess u know I haven't ordered again. I was a local repeating customer.... And even if the food has declined, I still ordered from them... NOT SINCE THEN... Don't let the reviews fool you! This restaurant is by far the worst "Chinese cuisine" I have ever been to. We were in the mood for Chinese on our long drive to DC and this was one of the places that was open and based on the reviews we thought we hit the jackpot. After waiting 20-30 min for our take-out we were highly disappointed after tasting it. There was absolutely ZERO taste in the so-called szeshaun chicken dish, chow mein, and pepper steak.
