This is my second time here. The first time was very good and I got the teriyaki chicken. This time I got the sweet and sour chicken and egg roll. The rice that comes with it is pretty boring and lacks flavor. The chicken was less than what I'd usually expect and it seems to have been deep fried earlier and dropped again making it very greasy dark and crunchy and not in a good way. The egg roll was very but compared to most places. The place seems fairly clean and the employees are ok but not overly friendly. For $14 I could have gone to a buffet and next time I will. read more

Our food came out in to go boxes even after we were asked if it was dine in or carry out. They were pretty empty due to people mainly ordering take out. It was a calm, quiet, and relaxing environment. We ordered two dishes, crab Rangoons, and the Thai ice cream. The Mongolian Beef with garlic sauce had some mild heat to it. The chicken and broccoli was good as well. The Rangoons are the softest, perfectly made Rangoons I've ever eaten! The Thai ice cream did not come out as pictured. The ice cream also wasn't on point for flavor. We spent $38.78. Overall I give it a 8/10. read more

Dont be dissuaded from entering when you see the outside, this restaurant is an affordable and delicious treat for anyone after traveling. My girlfriend and I are coming back to Richmond from a trip to Kentucky and stopped by here for a quick dinner. The food was good quality and extremely cheap. The owner seemed very nice and patient especially when dealing with a slightly rude customer. I would say the only problems I had were that there was a slight bug problem (which I mean like a fly or two) and some minor temperature problems. The tempura rolls were cold with room temperature sauce on them, which did not take away from the taste but may be a issue for some. The same went for the Thai Ice Tea which had a warmer milk compared to the rest of the drink. Overall still a great place to check out for a quick and filling meal! read more

Order food to pickup through the drive thru and the process was easy. Service was good as I just had to pull up and give them my phone number. My order was accurate as it has some substitutions. The problem of was the quality of the food, not quantity. There was plenty of food. I order the gyoza (pan fried) and the hibachi chicken and steak. The gyoza was more of deep fried than pan fried. The hibachi didn't have any flavor and the yum-yum sauce was good but very watery. My mother, who was visiting, order the Crab Rangoon and the General Tao's Chicken with white rice. I saw the good reviews and decided to give this place a try, I took my wife and we ordered several appetizers and other dishes to try everything, and my wife couldn't finish any of her food and I could barely power through my main dish. It was the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Everything tasted old and my chicken was burnt along with my noodles. The crab salad was the cherry on the cake, literally imitation crab with a quarter of a cucumber sliced together, and it's costed 6 bucks for some reason. As someone who loves to eat and try out every restaurant within a 25 miles radius, this is one of my new all time favorites. I eat here 2-4 times a week (it is very close to my house at college) The prices are great, and the food is delicious for the amount you pay. I would recommend any of the hibachi, the appetizers, and the sushi. While the prices are clearly cheap do not be afraid to try the sushi. The fish is fresh, the rice is always cooked perfectly, and you get upwards of 8 rolls per order. The lo mein and Chinese dishes are good as well, except some are better than others. I've tried 7-8 of the Chinese dishes and only had 1 that I didn't really enjoy. But you can't go wrong with the hibachi!! read more

I'm pretty pleased this place is here. I've noticed it but begrudgingly wouldn't stop because it's in the old and dear Taco Inn's spot. I was just too long from my last Asian inspired meal and decided to cave for lunch. You walk in and order at the counter. There's a basic sushi menu with imitation crab, salmon, tuna. They have hibachi meals, fried rice and lo mein dishes, soups, salad, typical American Asian fare. I chose a salmon avocado roll and Pad Thai. For a drink, I had their Thai iced tea. The sushi was good. It's a simple roll and the fish was fresh, avocado good and the rice cooked perfectly. I prefer more seasoning in my rice but this is the best I've had around this area. I'll take it. The Pad Thai was not as flavorful as I'd like, almost bland with an overwhelming and slightly undercooked egg presence. It was served without spices and lime. I like those things with mine so this lessened my opinion of the dish but nevertheless, it wasn't completely terrible. I asked for red pepper oil and lime. They had it and obliged. It helped the dish. It really lacked fish sauce though. The Thai iced tea was served without the sweetened condensed milk but was mixed with coconut milk and sugar. This is just a different variation than I prefer but was alright. I didn't finish it though. This restaurant serves rolled ice cream. I'm not a fan of the dessert so I didn't order it but I can see bringing the kids here for it. It's a novelty. The staff is kind and accommodating. I'll return for a sushi fix and to try a different dish. They have a large menu with fair prices. read more

Hmm... I'd love to give this restaurant more stars but I didn't really feel like I got the most bang for my buck. The food was fresh, but it just wasn't something to rave about. The people weren't really friendly, I kind of felt like I wasn't really all that welcome. It was packed and other customers seemed to be enjoying their time and food, so maybe it was just that they were overwhelmed with so much business. We ordered from the hibachi grill and also had some california rolls. Just none of it was really that impressive, from the portion size to the quality. Admittedly I've only tried this place out once, but my party of 3 all seemed to share the same opinions so we haven't really felt the desire to go back. My family has eaten at the Golden Bowl several times since they opened. Their portions are huge. We frequently get the lo mein, sesame chicken, or hibachi items. We've never received anything other than delicious, hot food--and a lot of it. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. You get a lot of food for what you pay and it's really fast. read more

Eh! Fair Chinese food but the portions are way to small! Had the sesame chicken, the pepper steak and a spicy tuna roll. The main problem with this place is the portions are too small for the price. by the time we got back to Roanoke we had to get something else to eat. In a collage town you would think they would have bigger portions. Collage students have to be thrifty with their money...so they can afford beer. We were there on a Saturday night and the place only had one other customer and one to go order it might be wise for them to look at their price/ portion ratio to draw more people in. I've been here quite a few times now and every time it is disappointing and the staff is unfriendly. Tonight was definitely the last time I'll ever step foot in this restaurant though. I ordered a salmon roll. Easy enough. It came out and I took one bite and had to spit it out because the fish tasted so sour. When I went to the owner to ask for a refund, he gave me a hard time and told me that all of their fish is fresh. I stood my ground until I got the refund.
