Lifetime lover of Portillos and will not go back anymore for TWO reasons:…read more 1. The food *quality* and sizing has gotten pathetic. Nothing like they used to serve when Dick Portillo owned it. 2. The prices are stupid for what you get. Plan on close to $20 per person for a full meal. (I now go to chilis for their 3 for me $10.99... drink, appetizer, entree / sandwich, and fries). Better size, quality, and consistency. Red Robin too. $9.99 meal!) Want specifics? The cake that used to take up all the space of the container has shrunk by 30% and the price has gone to $5.29 a slice? Pass. And it's not even made the same. Lacks frosting, and has gotten drier. The beef that used to fill sandwiches with slices of good beef, have become thin, shredded and falling apart.... If I AM gonna pay $10.00 for a beef sandwich - Beef Shack kicks Portillo's ass with quality beef, better flavor, better bread, and options like garlic bread for the Sammy. They also get orders wrong more than they seem to get them correct. So when the expensive food isn't worth it - and the service goes downhill and the prices become obscene? There's both better and cheaper places to eat! I even get real service at those places... versus #8 no more wait! And they throw a bag of food at you. It's sad to see the end of a legend!

I have a pretty good heat tolerance and liked the spice of extra hot but just regular hot is good enough I think and a bit more enjoyable. I was surprised how much food the order came with when I opened the box. Thick chicken tenders and generous portions of sauce, pickles and slaw too. The fries were nice and crispy and I like the seasoning. Staff was very friendly too even though I showed up while they were getting ready to close down for the night. I picked up my order to go but the restaurant was clean and I wouldn't have minded eating there. Also was able to use sign up reward and get a free drink with my meal too which was nice. I'm sure I'll be back soon.

No one was here besides me but in reality...who wants spicy food at 10am? Not to mention, most people are probably working at this time Upon entering, I was greeted by Mira (I believe). She was very friendly and asked if this was my first time and she explained the menu and the different options. I really appreciated her and that level of service For my late breakfast, early lunch... I got the Daves Big Trio with Hot as my pick. It came with 6 Bites, 4 mini sliders, and 2 pieces of Mozzarella sticks and 3 sauces. Everything was crispy and delicious. For someone who does eat spicy food... Hot was perfect. The first few bites, I thought "Oh...not bad at all...not spicy tho". However, the hot just kept building and building and around halfway mark, I had to drink some water and it was creeping towards "wow..spicer than I was prefer to eat as an everyday thing". Overall, the food was delicious, and hot was hot. I would return in the future.

While passing through the area my wife found this hidden local gem and it was well worth the stop…read more I am even thinking about going back tomorrow. We talked to the person there and found it was run by his family, and they do an exceptional job. My wife had the Liberty Cheesesteak with added onions while I had a combo Italian Beef/Italian Sausage sandwich - dipped with added onion, hot pepper and cheese. We also had a side of fries. Both sandwiches were big, which you would expect. The Philly had finely chopped steak with the peppers, onions and cheese all mixed in. My wife said it was fantastic. My combo was incredible. The beef was seasoned perfectly and was clearly not sitting all day in the au-jus (which when talking to the owner afterwards he confirmed was the case). You can always tell this because the meat had a nice texture and was not overly salty, but instead as I stated seasoned and cooked perfectly. Additionally, the fries were well cooked, crisp and hot. They take care to keep the oil fresh and clean, so the fries taste like fries instead of old dirty oil. As an added bonus he even treated my pup to a small dish of ice cream which she enjoyed on a hot day. Fortunately, we showed up a little after the lunch rush and was able to spend a few minutes talking about the business and baseball and our combined hate of the dreaded Dodgers. Even if I don't go back there tomorrow, it's definitely a must stop next time through the area.
