I just moved back to Tennessee from New Jersey where I lived for the last 16 years surrounded by amazing authentic food from all over Central South America and every other Spanish speaking country too. I've been missing authentic Mexican food and thought Id give this a chance. Honestly this food was so disappointing. No flavor and the tamales fell apart and crumbled as the maize was dry. Also, after taking one bite I saw this coming out of it. I have red hair so the short coarse hair coming out of the tamale wasn't mine! I didn't eat tonight and this was my first time trying the place. We got a refund from DoorDash, but I later called the restaurant to let them know. I ordered a basic carne verde with rice and beans and a perfect margarita! My significant other enjoys fozen margarita, our waitress brought us two margaritas in the rocks. We put a complaint in and she proceeded to bring a frozen margarita that was x-small , Let's just say my 13.00 margarita taste like orange juice and my food was so salty I could not eat it?! I had to go the the hospital from food poisoning after I ate here. Yesterday between 2-3 I had lunch here with my family. I was the only one who got sick and was the only one who ate the shredded chicken. That night or next morning about 1 am I woke up vomiting and bad diarrhea... it felt so bad my father had to drive me to the ER.. My wife called ponchos about 11am while I was still in the hospital and explained what happened... my doctor confirmed it was food poisoning and from the chicken I ate... I got outta the hospital about 2 pm and called ponchos to see if there were any other complaints.... they had no record of my wife calling earlier so apparently whoever she spoke with didn't say a word to anybody else at this business. So I called the owner. He just wanted to argue with me and claim no responsibilities.... Poncho literally said he "doesn't care" I'll be call the health department next. read more

Was driving through town visiting the area and stopped in for a late lunch. Quick service and HUGE portions!! Great lunch prices! Took a friend out for her birthday and it didn't break the bank! This is a very small restaurant in a strip mall. The decor is outdated and there is musty carpet on the floor. However, I did not smell any foul odor from carpet. It just looked very old and worn. With that being said, our waiter was one of the best waiters I have ever had hands down. He was so attentive and would bring us things we needed before we even asked. When we ordered more beers he brought us FRESH cold mugs. I've never been somewhere with such good service. The food was good, but not out of this world. Cheese dip and guacamole were both good. Enjoyed a relaxing lunch here today with my co-workers. Their Chicken Poblano is very good and not as bad on calories as other entrees. I have seen stuffed poblanos at other mexican restaurants but not stuffed with cheese and chicken. Their salsa and guacamole are also good. If you are in the mood for mexican you should definitely check this place out. The service is fast so if you are on your lunch hour it shouldn't be a problem to get out on time and back to work. read more

This place doesn't even deserve one star. We found a hairball in our refried beans so that's unfortunate and unsanitary. The hostess also used derogatory language such as the "B word". My mom and I were craving some Mexican food and decided to give Pancho's a try. The best thing I can say about this place is that the chips and salsa were good. The rest of our experience was ok at best. I've never had a hostess so rude. She never spoke a word and expected us to miraculously read her mind when we were to follow her to our table. Still, never speaking, she tossed our menus on the table and stormed away. It was as if we inconvenienced her to walk 30 steps to our table. The nicest person in the restaurant was the woman who brought our chips. I'm not sure what her role, but I would've preferred her over anyone else that provided our service, even with the language barrier. It took our waiter several minutes to take our drink order - 2 waters and a SMALL margarita. The margarita he brought out was not a small and was most likely made from one of those syrupy machines. He gave his reason, "It's only a dollar more..." But whatever... He then proceeded to sit down and took out his phone and play what I can only assume was Candy Crush. We were ready to order and the waiter finally ambled his way over. I saw some nachos that looked appetizing, so I ordered shrimp nachos. My mom ordered something unforgettable. The food was terribly bland. Being from Texas, we expected some sort of spice. Yet, nothing... I kept waiting for the spice to hit and it just never happened. It was horrible. I can make better nachos. Luckily, I have learned that not too far away is Chuy's, a comforting beacon of light that reminds me of home. If you're from Texas moving to Tennessee, I do not recommend Pancho's. We used to be regular patrons of Pancho's. however, all of the familiar employees are now gone. The service is HORRENDOUS! We ordered our usual "pitcher of Gold Margarita". When it arrived it was clearly NOT "gold". It tasted exactly like watered down mixer. When we inquired to the waiter, he laughed at us. We asked to speak to Abel, the manager (who we know). Used to enjoy my visits here...until I spotted trash floating in my water under the ice recently. I pointed it out to the waiter and asked why they would serve water with trash in it. I complained about this situation before I ordered. HUGE mistake. Sixteen hours later I'm suffering with intestinal issues. This is one of our regular places. The staff there are really nice and they typically remember us every time we go in. There have been some good times and bad times but what we have figured out is that it is best to go when they first open for lunch. The prices are cheaper and the food seems fresher. One of our favorites is the tamale with the shredded pork inside. When fresh, the tamale is soft, moist and very tasty. Same with the pork. We will usually get a side of sour cream and pico to eat with it. At lunch this dish is cheap and normally fresh. At dinner, it has been dry and old. No bueno. So go at lunch early (they get busy quick) and enjoy. P.S. The Tosta Guac with shredded beef or pork is our 2nd favorite dish. read more

Went to panchos while in town for work based on previous reviews. Out of 4 reviews they had 5 stars, so it looked like a good bet. All I can say is bring your appetite, and possibly a stretcher if u have a hard time taking leftovers, because these guys don't mess around! Huge portions, and very quick service as well. The only reason I didn't rate this place as high as other people was that the meat could have used more seasoning, not bad but lacking a little bit (I had chicken/beef fajitas) compared to some other nashville Mexican spots. But as far as portions and price are concerned panchos definitely warrants 5 stars. On point! read more

Yes, this place is close to our home. Yes, it is convenient. No, that's not why we go there. Although it is a mere twelve minutes from our doorstep, it is the quality of the food and service that makes Pancho's Place the wonderful Mexican restaurant that is the 'go-to' place for our family. Within minutes of being seated, or even as you are being seated, their in-house abuela gives you chips and salsa right away. We always order both the cheese deep and the guacamole, because, well, we have to. My favorite dish? I'm torn. Is it the Fajitas Jalisco? Or is it the Nachos Pancho's? Or is it the Chicken Fajita Nachos? We really can't decide. Please go, you will not be disappointed. Oh, and my family of five gets out of there for less than 60 bucks with tip, and that is tipping 15%. The staff don't know us by name, though they should by now, but they are always warm and friendly, and truly interested in making sure the reason we're there, the food and service, are top notch. Visiting from out of state was expecting authentic Mexican food. Beef enchilada was made with ground beef. Food is bland and when I went to pay there was $22 additionally added to my check. When I mention the waiter shrugged his shoulders I had to tell him to look at it and total it again. On the previous visit I had huevas com chorizo and it was also bland and way over cooked.
