The Peppercorn Scratch Kitchen was recommended to my wife and I by the manager of the motel we checked into for the evening. First Jenny,one of the owners, met us at our table and explained the various menu items. Then she offered to help with our selections and place our orders. My wife ordered a loaded baked potato, the size of which must have been in the top 2 or 3 grown in Idaho this year! I ordered a chicken and bean burrito. Excellent! Jason, the other co-owner stopped by our table and inquired if everything was okay and offered to get us anything else we needed. I stopped in again the other night. This time I had the Rango (brisket sandwich) and the Brussels sprouts. The Rango was flavorful and quite a large portion. It had just the right amount of fresh jalapeños and the sauce is amazing. Now I have always prided myself on my Brussels sprouts but I have to tip my hat to Jason. His are better. The carrot cake was sold out and the new batch was still cooling and to warm to frost. But that's okay. I'll be back soon! So far I have only eaten takeout but the ambience is very inviting. Finally had a chance to try Peppercorn Scratch Kitchen. This is a cute Tex Mex spot. I must say the food was flavorful and the smoked wings were very tasty. I ordered the baja bowl and it was delicious. I just wish the jalapeños were pickled and not fresh next time I will leave them off. The owner/manager is so friendly. The food is made to order. I hadn't experienced Peppercorns Scratch Kitchen in North Columbia since it opened until today. I'm glad I stopped by. Not only was the Tex/Mex food delicious it was priced well and they will be able to accommodate my wife with her gluten free, dairy free, egg allergies. Workers (I presume owners) are terrifically helpful and friendly. There's a happy hour from 4-6 PM. We have a lot of good spots to eat around here but I'll definitely return here. read more

The menu is full of Mexican inspired foods with some southern flare, and there's a little for everyone's tastes. The food came out very quickly and was absolutely delicious! We ordered the dip sampler with queso, jalapeño ranch, salsa, and guac. I could eat the jalapeño ranch with a spoon-- it is possibly one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life! Salsa and guacamole is super fresh! Queso is unique and delicious! Chips are thin, warm, and alllll the good kinds of crispy! (I hate restaurants with stale, sh*tty chips). I got the jefe salad which came with ample amounts of seasoned chicken and cheese. My boyfriend got a custom burrito with cheesy rice and his was super flavorful too. Great portions of meat and toppings. Staff was exceptionally friendly as well giving us extra chips and an extra side of queso because we thought we had ordered an extra side of it-- they definitely did not have to do that. They really know customer service! This place will really be on weekly rotation. I'm already thinking about all the other things I want to try! We went here having heard good things about the food but didn't know what to expect. The food definitely tasted like it was from scratch. The Diablo bowl was excellent. The tortillas are made fresh there and they smoke their own meats as well. You can tell when you taste the food. Pricing was reasonable for what you get. The staff are some of the nicest and most proud we have encountered. Overall this is the best Tex Mex restaurant we have been to in the Spring Hill/Columbia area, possibly even in the Franklin area. 50/50 on this place. The place is cute and clean but ordering in person is annoying with the kiosk. Would have been easier on my phone since the menu kept changing from breakfast to lunch and the kiosk doesn't have everything to view at the same time like a menu does. It was not busy so we took our time, but I could see waiting for people to order to be time consuming. The chips are 9/10, hot, fresh and crispy. The sauces and guacamole have good flavor. The refried beans are decently seasoned. The flour tortilla was 6/10, not super fresh, but better than most places and not gummy. The "carne asada" is bad. Honestly tasted like Taco Bell "steak". Chewy, weird tasting meat with no seasoning. Texture was like cubed stew meat that wasn't cooked all the way so it started to shred but was still chewy. Very expensive for what it is. Overall 6/10 with some great stuff, but that meat is terrible. Would try again with a different meat next time. read more

My wife and I met friends here for dinner one night and were blown away. At first, we were taken aback ... it's in commercial a strip mall and doesn't look like much. Then we walked in, and while it smelled good, to me it smelled more like a BBQ place than Tex Mex. We quickly learned not to let those impressions fool us... the food was incredibly good - full of flavor, and with Goldilocks and the Three Bears portions: not too big, not too small... just right. Other big plusses was that everything on the menu was reasonably priced, the staff was friendly, and the service was quick. The only thing that caught us off guard is that they aren't open on weekends. Being as it's 80 miles from where we live, it's going to make it hard to go back... and that's a shame because we really liked it and would love to show our support by going often. But if you live close to Columbia, TN or are just traveling through on any weekday but Monday, give Peppercorn Scratch Kitchen a try. I think you'll be glad you did. read more

This place was a delightful surprise! We were at an event at Spring Hill High School and I have seen their Facebook page pop in on a few of our community groups so we decided to finally give it a try. Inside is fairly small but still plenty of sitting for a small group or large group of 7-8. You order and pay at the counter and they bring your food to you. We ordered the Tumbleweeds for our starter which is thinly sliced fried onions served with their barbecue ranch. It's so good and perfectly cooked. I prefer the thin cut onion rings so I was devouring them. Our mains were the Rango and Smothered Burrito. The Rango is chopped brisket sandwich which was so good and the fries were great too. The rice that came with the Smothered Burrito was great and flavorful, I loved the burrito as well. We finished off our meal with banana pudding and rolled out there because we were so full. Great little spot for quality food. The place isn't fancy but the food is crafted with care. I had the fajita tacos. Grilled chicken with fajita vegetables and a side plate of fixins. Fresh grated cheese, pico, guac, sour cream and lettuce. The flour tortillas were amazingly soft yet strong enough to hold all the ingredients without falling apart. The flavor was superb. Sometimes with these dishes, the vegetables are over cooked and the chicken is dry, but not here. All the flavors are combined for a delicious fiesta on the tongue. The rice and pintos are also really tasty. Since the restaurant also serves barbecue, there's a hint of that in the pintos. The rice is also unique. It's has a peppery flavor that I found complimented the rest of everything on the plate. Off the beaten path, but well worth a visit. Quality food, quality ingredients and friendly staff.
