My lady being from the New Orleans area was thoroughly impressed. Felt like home said she. We had the grits and shrimp, started with the best deviled eggs we've ever had and the service, can't say enough about our waitress "Lissa". Top notch, attentive, courteous from start to finish. Really can't say enough good about the place. Especially when getting the bill for the meal served on a hymnal! There's also this magnificent stained glass window imported from Italy depicting the conversion of ST. Paul. in the banquet area. We will definitely be making this place a regular stop! Service here is 15/10 probably the best experience I've ever gotten. Lovely lovely staff and owner it was great to hear their story. Wish I lived here so I could go more often and support. Brisket tacos: amazing flavor in the brisket. could use slightly more meat & ingredients in the tacos to balance the ratio with the flour tortilla. Shrimp & grits: decadent, creamy, delicious, very rich. was amazing to try a bite. Burger: amazing!!! I'm not even a burger person but they have it down it was amazing. Salmon: good, nothing crazy but a solid dish. I would say to add more of the sauce they had to it - which seemed like a sweet soy sauce. Drinks: I forgot the name but the yuzu sour was light and refreshing! Ambience: the bar area was beautifullll. I'm excited to see how the other areas turn out as well. I think some string lights could be added to the outside to take it to the next level. Wow, wow, wow!! Awesome dining experience in such a cool space, with an excellent atmosphere and wonderful service. We used RESY to make the reservation and it asked if it was for a special event. We were with my sister and brother in law who were celebrating their 1st anniversary and the staff had a a congratulations card on our table and provided a complimentary dessert! The food and drink menu is unique and everything we had was delicious. The only complaint we had was that my wife asked for her burger to be cooked well and it was borderline medium. We were in a group of four...with friends visiting from New Hampshire. The front dining/bar area is small but cozy and well decorated! Our server was very knowledgeable and super friendly! We loved the short but diverse menu with both healthy and comfort-food options - we got the deviled eggs app (amazing) as well as the dumplings (also quite yummy)!! Then, having not eaten all day, we decided to try ALL SIX of the meals on the menu - family style - and were quite pleased with all of them! We didn't even leave much to take home! The guys got the two different old fashions and I got the Dolly's Bathwater (or something like that) and she got a martini - they were all well mixed, refreshing without tasting like just sugar water! Our server "Hudson" was really a nice young man and very helpful but was slammed with guests and the kitchen was backed up so a bit slow. Hidden GEM in downtown Columbia. I say hidden because you can't really see the sign from Main street unless you are walking the sidewalk. And, their beautiful beer garden is tucked away at the back of the restaurant. The menu is small, but everything on it is DELICIOUS! Make sure you ask about their daily specials - they won't be listed on the menu. We had the chicken pot pie, the snobby Joe's (brisket sliders), and the shrimp and grits. Note: if you do not like "spicy", best to ask about what you order. All three entrees had some wonderful "kick" to them (yes, even the chicken pot pie). Plus, you can't go wrong with any of the sides, especially the Au Gratin Medallions or Mac-n-Cheese. We shared two of the appetizers - The Burrata and the Deviled Egg Flight. BOTH were AMAZING! The craft cocktails are excellent as well. We had Dolly's Bathwater and the Barrentine Old Fashioned. Finally... the service. OUTSTANDING. Tucker was wonderful. He kept our water glasses full, and he was genuinely concerned that we enjoyed every plate and glass set in front of us. The owner even made a quick stop to say hello. TIP: If you want to enjoy the great live music in the beer garden, BEST make a reservation at least a week in advance! All around this is a MUST DO for dinner or cocktails. Recommend your make a reservation (through RESY) because the restaurant is small. But even given its size, it was quiet and intimate for a relaxing evening of great food and fantastic cocktails. read more

We visited Bourbon Gospel for the first time last night. We were quickly greeted by the owner, Michael. We were seated in the outdoor beer garden which had a beautiful and elevated but relaxed ambience. Our server, Alex, was knowledgeable and attentive and gave top-notch service. We shared the Baked Gruyère which was above expectations. For our entrees we had the chicken pot pie, the burger with Mac'n'Cheese, and the salmon with au gratin medallions, then finished with the Cookie Dough Flight for dessert. Discovered this place purely by accident by finding a shady spot to park the car. Made reservations for an early dinner and was warmly greeted by Melissa. All the tables in the front (and the bar) was full of ladies having a grand time. She moved us to a quiet table in the next room. Ordered 2 of their creative cocktails from Hannah to get started. Shortly afterwards, Evan came over and apologized that they were out of one ingrediant for my drink. He suggested another option that was close and it was spot on. This is what customer service is about. He just didn't say "sorry, we're out of it", but came up with a great alternative. We started with pistaschio dusted burrata. My wife ordered the peppercorn crusted pork chop, while I opted for the salmon with bourbon glaze. Both were terrific, but I think the pork chop was the daily special. They are working on a wine list so Evan just recited what was available. I am not a chardonnay person, but this one was from Oregon and unoaky and went well with our dishes. Topped off the meal splitting a piece of decadent dark chocolate torte. So, they get a rare "10" for cuisine as well as circuses. Again, kudos to all the staff. Columbia needs more options for dining and Bourbon Gospel is a welome addition. read more
