I visited Buck & Board's new location while visiting friends in Columbia. It's beautiful inside, and they have a few tables outside. They were debuting a new menu the day we went. Their snickerdoodle mimosas were amazing! My friend and I shared the whipped feta board, which was perfection. We also shared the pesto Caprese tartine, which wasn't my favorite. Now they have a stuffed French toast that was extremely dry on the outside. Not sure why they don't soak their brioche in the custard and then stuff it Double baking brioche is not a great idea. It dries out the bread so much. It's like a mouthful of dry sand. Potatoes were OK no crispiness to them also lacking seasoning just a sprinkle of salt would go a long way. Some of the items on the boards were better than others but overall we appreciated the carefully selected eclectic mixes of items. The patio is spacious and lovely and would be perfect if the weather is nice. One thing I misinterpreted from reading the menu beforehand is I expected more of a coffeehouse vibe but they were out of milk the day I went. The furniture, decor, and even glassware are all aesthetic and classy. Upon arrival, there were only two tables and the servers seemed to be overwhelmed. She seemed dismissive upon our arrival, but once we sat down she welcomed us in. The menu has primarily sandwiches and boards of differing kinds; however, they do not and will not make substitutions. The wait for food was very long, but the presentation is worth the anticipation. The food is beautifully styled on the iconic boards and the charcuteries are stunning. My wife and I decided to try out Buck & Board in downtown Columbia. We came Friday night and the patio was filled with people sitting, talking, and listening to the live music. We walked in and were told to sit wherever we'd like. It was small but quaint, with maybe ten or so tables. They also had a bar area to hang out at. We selected multiple different appetizers and small plates and shared them. So we were able to sample a little of everything. We got the whipped goat cheese, crushed potatoes, bistro steak, shrimp, and the turkey + havarti. The portions for the plates were good. The steak was definitely on the smaller side, but was perfectly done. Their pea shoot pesto and roasted garlic aioli were exquisite. We had a few rounds of sangria and white wine, sat and talked while enjoying the music from outside. Our server was very friendly and attentive. All of the servers worked together to make sure everyone was being taken care of. However, I will say when this occurs you're asked a lot of the same questions. "Would you like another drink, how is everything tasting, can I get you anything else." When you answer the same question three separate times, it can get frustrating. But again, if you look at it from the other end.. we didn't wait for anything and they were consistent with making sure we had a good experience. I'd rather answer the question three separate times, than waiting for the server that never comes back. Overall we had a wonderful experience, and will recommend to our friends and family! My personal favorite was the bistro steak and the shrimp. I've been told the pork belly is very popular, however we were too full to give it a try. Cheers read more

Food is amazing every time we dine here. Only thing that has been an ongoing issue is the waiting time to get the food. Busy or slow, we had to wait at least 35 minutes to get our food. The longest time was about an hour. Make sure you come not crazy hungry because you will get HANGRY real fast. The restaurant is pretty but the chairs are uncomfortable. We went in and ordered Greek Salads from this place. When we arrived at home we noticed they didn't put the chicken on it that it comes with. When we called we were told that they changed the salad but didn't change their menu. So we were charged $18 for a box of lettuce with a couple of olives and a few slices of cucumber. We asked for a refund and we were told that the owner will have to be contacted. I have yet to hear from the owner or receive a refund. This review is really for management - to be competitive and keep your fine restaurant in business- you have to greet your customers and you have to bring them menus and silverware!! There were only 2 other tables sat when arrived at 6pm ish on a Saturday night. We were not greeted and watched waitress walk to an existing table before at least saying hello and I'll be right with you or at least bring us a menu w a smile! It's not hard stuff! Absolutely adorable little gem! Wanted to do brunch with a friend who lives in Nashville area, so we decided to meet somewhere in the middle-ish between our two cities. It's small inside - only about 10 tables - but just the coziest little space. We each had the lavender mimosa - highly recommend! We split the chocolate & cheese board to start - it was delicious (all the charcuterie sounded amazing)! Then we both had the Turkey & havarti sandwiches - yum! BUCK AND BOARD IS BACK!!! And better than ever. ;) Their new building is so adorable. It is crazy the amount of renovations that they did to make this place their style and feel homey! I went to this building when it was a barbecue restaurant and it was so different! The servers and workers are all so sweet and kind! The three cheeses were cut up from Kroger, the meats were fair to good the fruit was expired. It's strawberry season folks, please bring me strawberries - if you choose to put them on the board- that aren't molded and rotted. I had four pieces of bread for $28 charcuterie board, I would expect something more since it's the second word in the title of your restaurant. Exceed our expectations!!! Columbia is such a cute up-and-coming town but we have not found any date spots that have hit the spot but this place is it! Right on a corner just down from the square with live music, this intimate little venue is the PERFECT spot for girls night, date night and all the in between. The wine selections are really high quality yet very affordable and the service was amazing. Don't even get me started on the grilled cheese...WOW. My only wish is that they were open longer on weekends. We will definitely be back soon!! read more
