This is my go to restaurant for excellent fajitas. I measure a Mexican restaurant by their salsa and fajitas as they are often indicative of how fresh and well prepared the food will be. Speaking of staff, I am always greeted with a warm welcome and the service is consistently very good. With respect .... The burritos meats are seasoned with little more than salt and pepper. There are no "Mexican" flavors present. Please consider using Cumin and Chili powder or better yet rehydrated chili peppers. Also.... Rice and beans are great in a burrito. They do not have to be mixed into a paste before hand. The 1st time I went the food was not good I couldn't finish my dinner. The 2nd time I went my chicken had bones in it. I called the manger and he denied it. The 3rd time I went they served my dinner to me and it looked like they picked it up off the floor and put it on my plate. Tried the Shrimp Acapulco This is grilled shrimp with queso poured over it and rice. Nice quality of shrimp as well as nice portion of queso poured over it. I mix the queso up with the rice and then asked for some corn tortillas to place the shrimp and rice mixture into it to eat. Their fresh and hot served corn tortillas were awesome. The flavor of the grilled shrimp you could taste the open flame grill plus a nice seasoning was also placed. Then the flavor of queso added to this was great. Also had their chips and salsa. Love the chips since they are pretty much no salt on them and they are warm. Salsa had a nice flavor, not too spicy but enough to be good. Service was quick and friendly as well as the atmosphere is calm and inviting. So many things in this menu to try. I would be eating there for weeks. Looking forward to being back. read more

The decor in the restaurant is nice and well thought out. It was raining when I was there, but they do have outdoor seating. Service was friendly and efficient. It was extremely cold inside though. I'd guess 60-62. I normally sleep at 67 and it was much colder than that inside. The food was mostly really good. The chips were a little too crisp and didn't have a lot of flavor. The tomatillo salsa was house made, super spicy, and very flavorful. The queso wasn't too runny, and the regular salsa tasted good as well. I got the quesadilla rellena with ground beef. It was smaller than I expected, but I was still plenty stuffed afterwards! It came with rice, lettuce, guacamole, and a full slice of tomato. I requested no beans. Overall, solid 4 stars. Ok! A molcajete is by far one of my most favorite dishes so i was excited to see a new restaurant by the same name. I was not disappointed. The ones here are huge and definitely enough to share. Delicious. I also love a good poblano. What most places call a chile relleno. We had a couple with the molcajete. They were good but pretty standard. As good as the food was, the best part was the service. Rebecca was an absolute delight. Super helpful with my keto requirements and even brought me a taste of all their sauces so I could pick what worked best. We were pretty impressed and will be back. Probably a lot. read more

Maybe it is the 2 margareitas speaking but it was all awesome! I had the Pollo Taleco I think. Chicken w chorizo and queso sauce. OMG i am in love. The chorizo was cooked crunchy and was so good with the queso. Every one else had great food as well. Well cooked and flavorful, and of course the margareitas were awesome, but beware of the large ones, you could take a bath in one :-. Similar to other reviews I can hear expecting mid tier service and food. However I was pleasantly surprised by the good service and excellent food. The salsa they give you is delicious a bit on the spicier side but I enjoyed. The guacamole casero was fresh and tasty. The birria tacos were delicious and my wife loved her enchiladas. I'm sure that after a few more visits I'll be able to pronounce the name of this restaurant. But until then I'll call it the "good one". There are a number of choices for Mexican in this hamlet of Spring Hill, but if I had to choose which one to impress my girlfriend, I'd be choosing the good one. There's a ton of room. Tables everywhere. But don't think that you can just show up and expect to be immediately seated. Oh no. The good one is popular and you may find yourself having to wait. Which may not be all that bad if you're of drinking age. If not, well I think that it would be a good idea to ring them up. You're going to get a lot of food, so you better be hungry and have means for cold storage when you can't finish your meal. Their food is too tasty to be left on the plate. Our server Samantha was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our party of four were not left wanting for anything. She even gave an impromptu Spanish lesson to one of the young ones. We're from Arizona, so we know authentic Mexican food -- and this was definitely it! We are so excited to finally have a truly authentic Mexican spot here in Spring Hill, as they are hard to come by. The restaurant is new and clean, and we were greeted right away. Even at 4 PM on a Saturday during a tornado watch, the place was still relatively busy. By the time we finished our meal, there was a wait -- which tells you how good this place is! The chips and salsa were fantastic, and we ordered the Mexican eggrolls to start. They were awesome. My husband got the fish tacos, and I went with the carne asada tacos. Everything was absolutely amazing, and we'd run back in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, the cheese dip we ordered tasted like generic cheese, it never thickened up like other restaurants cheese dip. My husband and I visited mid-day for a late lunch. Host and server were great. Decided to start with Supreme Nachos and proceed from there. The ground beef was grey and very unappetizing. The cheese was sprinkled on top and unmelted. The serving was on the smaller end of the typical nacho platter. El Mocajete was a decent eat. Here are the pros and cons I observed: Pros: nice layout, decor and ambiance. Staff was friendly, we were seated quickly and seating was well spread out and arranged. Food came really quickly, menu was robust and prices fair in my opinion. Cons: food was just mediocre. Nothing really stood out from the food ordered (combo with tacos and enchilada, cali burrito and pollo con queso). Chips and salsa were lacking flavor and spice. We have a few restaurants like this in the area and unfortunately El Mocajete just didn't rise above the rest. read more

Why is this place always crowded? It's just NOT good food. I've ordered from here twice now. The first time, my order was 100% wrong, I didn't complain or write a review because they were new and wanted to give them a second chance. Fast forward to second chance: What is wrong with their meat???? I think the chicken is BOILED? Look at the weird chicken texture. It looks either very old, recooked, or boiled. To add insult to injury, the steak was so chewy, I couldn't chew it. It was overcooked badly and completely TASTELESS. The chicken, shrimp, and steak had no seasoning, was chewy, and just plain awful. The only PRO about this meal was they actually gave plenty of queso to the meal. Otherwise, AWFUL food. read more

BEST Mexican food in Spring Hill! I'm from California (the only time I'll admit it), so I know what authentic Mexican food is supposed to taste like, and this is it! We were so exited to have a new Mexican food restaurant in town. My mom and I dined in today, after church. They were very busy, but there was plenty of parking, lots of places to sit and their staff was on it! They operated like a well oiled machine, as if they had been open for much longer. They definitely train their staff well. Our server was great and she brought a sense of humor that made our experience a memorable one. The food is soo good! Our first visit was absolutely amazing food was delicious and fast. Second visit just as good. Third time was horrible. No chips and salsa, had to ask. Not such a huge deal. Took forever for our order to arrive and here is where it really goes wrong. No plates for fajitas were left, no tortillas were brought out for the fajitas. We waited for our server and finally had to ask another person for what was needed. Finally we were able to eat. Then we sat waiting for our check.. and waiting. Was very excited to try this new restaurant. This was our first and last visit. When we arrived, there was no wait. We asked to be seated at a booth and was told there were no booths available but yet there were three booth empty. They seated us. Our waiter was nice but didn't speak English. It was difficult to communicate with him. He misunderstood a few things we asked for. We ordered 3 steak fajitas. They came out cold and not sizzling. The flavor was good, but we could not eat them. They were overcooked and very tough. We were trying not to make a big deal, but when the waiter came, he asked how everything was so we told him about the fajitas, being cold and very overcooked and tough. He sent a manager over. We explained about our experience and all he said to us was I'm sorry. He did not ask if we wanted to try something else so we asked for a check to leave. We left all our food there and went up to the counter to pay and they asked how everything was and we explained again what happened? The manager told us next time tell the waiter we want our steak less cooked. I explained that our waiter did not speak English and he had a hard time understanding what we wanted or needed, and we tried to communicate the best we could. I asked for the check to be comped, and they only took off one meal, even though we did not eat any of the 3 meals. I called back after we left to speak to the manager again about our experience to tell him that we felt that our entire check should have been comped since we left all our food and did not eat. We were told that the manager had already left. I called the next morning and spoke to the assistant manager, Javier who said that the manager was not there. I requested a full refund of the 2 meals that I paid for that wasn't comped or I would dispute with my bank that I didn't get what we paid for or ate. He said that he could offer us a gift certificate, for what we paid but if we wanted to dispute with our bank, we could go ahead and do that. He refused to refund us. I told him we did not want to go back, especially after the way we were treated and how lousy the food was. He said to go ahead and dispute the charge with your bank. The staff are rude and greedy and don't care about their reputation. We will not be back. We should have read other reviews before going. read more
