We came over from Medford to visit our son and chose this restaurant to eat at. Walked in and the hostess acted annoyed we were there waiting to be seated. No smile, barley muttered hello. We day-trip to Brookings from Humboldt County every few months, and Pancho's is a must-stop every time! My fiance normally gets the Chef's burrito and loves it, while I've bounced around the menu. Everything's been quite yummy, but last time I ordered the grilled prawn tacos and they blew my mind. Healthy serving of prawns (not overcooked!), fresh veggies, and a delicious cream sauce. I found what menu item I'm sticking with from now on! Restaurant's clean, parking's plentiful, and the waitresses are attentive. And you can have your dog with you on the outdoor patio! read more

The food is very good.. everything is good, always served fresh and hot to where you have to wait for it to cool down for a bit. If you happen to find yourself in Brookings, Oregon, and you really want some Mexican food, this place just might do the trick. If you are a minor, or happen to look like one, they absolutely will not let you sit anywhere near the bar. Not even at a booth next to the bar. Never thought I would get carded just to sit at a table in a restaurant located across from a bar, but I guess there's a first time for everything. (Is this an Oregon thing?) I was going to go with my standby of cheese enchiladas, but, when in the PNW, you should probably eat all of the seafood available to you, so I chose the prawns and scallops with rice. The dish was interesting and relatively tasty. There was no shortage of prawns and scallops and the sauce was pretty good. The dish includes tomatoes and mushrooms, as well as a few other things. The serving size is huge, as in there is enough food for two or three people. I didn't finish all of it, but I certainly put in a valiant effort. I don't remember the chips and salsa, so, in my world, that means they were probably nothing to write home about. The service wasn't excellent, but it wasn't downright terrible, either. I'll probably never find myself in this small town again, but if you happen to find yourself in Brookings while driving up the Pacific Coast Highway and you really, really need to get your Mexican food fix - eh, why not? read more

First Impression: pictures look great, let's give it a try. It went down hill and fast from there. Pulled in, confusing parking lot. Walked in and got a nasty look from the waitress. Didn't acknowledge us at whatsoever besides that. When she finally did, the nasty look was in alignment with her horrible attitude. We were as friendly as can be, used manners, spoke kindly, but she would not smile and was clearly serving us begrudgingly. She looked at her watch when we asked for a minute to get acquainted with the menu. The food was blah and the only redemption was a somewhat decent yet tiny overpriced margarita. Speaking of prices: seriously OVERPRICED. I got bagged lettuce with my taco, it had the carrots and red cabbage and bag salad taste to go with it. No thank you! The beef was so crunchy, it must have been sitting there a very long time. Yuck! The beans had no flavor. Absolutely like flushing money down the drain. PLASTIC IN FOOD and Pathetic Service I am so so sad to be writing this as I have been a loyal Pancho's customer for 15 years. As a Bay Area native, I know good food and working in the Financial District in San Francisco, I know good customer service. I have never had such an egregious experience at this place before which is why I'm immensely disappointed to be writing this review. We waited 10 minutes before getting water, and asked multiple times on the status of our Modelo Negro and piña colada. 30 minutes later, our food arrived and still no beverages. In what world are you served your meal before your ordered beverage? Just curious. We eventually canceled the drink order that never came. The bean dip that I had ordered when I first arrived also took quite a bit to arrive and when I asked a lady on the status, I got a "Well I just got here" response. Incorrect and pathetically unprofessional response for someone who works in customer service. "Let me check on that for you" would have been more appropriate. The cherry on top of this miserably inadequate experience was when I found a 3" piece of plastic under my refried beans. I immediately asked for a manager and requested that our entire meal be comped. She obliged. I'm sure she's a nice lady but she's a sorry excuse for a manager and her negligence and deer in the headlights demeanor screams that she has had insufficient or no managerial training, as well as her staff. After 15 years, it's safe to say that Pancho's is hereby CANCELED. Taking suggestions for other Mexican eateries in the area or anywhere I can get service with a "no excuses" and "customer first" attitude. My husband and I came here because I felt like Mexican for dinner and it wasn't far from our job that we had to do that night, we ordered two appetizer's the Mexican pizza which was HUGE and it tasted awesome!! then we ordered the combo appetizer that had nachos, chimichangas, and something else I can't remember lol, this was really good as well a lot of flavor from both apps, I ordered a pink lemonade it was good had a lot of alcohol, and then I had a Kiwi Margarita which was very tasty by the time we left I was feeling the alcohol lol, for dinner we both had two chimichangas and we both had one chicken and one pork. The apps were so enormous that we couldn't finish dinner so we got that to go, the only problem the menu was HUGE and it was hard to decide I kept dancing back and forth because it was so big it was really hard to decide....... They still deserve five stars the food and drinks were amazing they just need to knock their menu down a little keep it to two pages not four..... I do recommend this place the food is really good and service is fast, they also bring out chips and salsa while you wait which are really good :-) read more

This place was the highlight of our day on Sunday. Our car had broken down so we were pretty much stuck in this city we had no idea about. We stopped by Pancho's to get something to eat per our hotel agent's recommendation. We were blown away by how the atmosphere looked, it looked like a restaurant you'd walk into in Mexico. The decor was attractive, the food was great, the staff was awesome(I wish I could remember her name but the young lady who served us spoke spanish and has beautiful hazel eyes and dark hair put in a high bun, she also gave me a mini tour of the place. I summer in Smith River, California. I asked the 'locals' where the best Mexican food is, they told me Pancho's. Went there for dinner tonight, first time. We did have to wait quite awhile (waitress said, due to 'take out' orders). She kept us well supplied with chips and salsa, so it wasn't too bad. We got our food, it was hot and tasty! I have eaten many chile rellanos, but none as good as this one. The cheese!!! The cheese in the Chile Rellano was delicious, the chile was easy to cut, very well done. The chicken taco, crispy shell was good. Chicken was not very well seasoned and a bit dry, there was cilantro on it though and that's a plus! Made reservations when my kids visited for Mother's Day weekend, since we we pleased with our first visit. Pancho's is my son-in-law and grand-daughter's favorite all time Mexican restaurant and they have traveled the world!! My grand-daughter tells every one about Pancho's, she is 13 and lives 3,000 miles away! She says it is the best Mexican restaurant in the world! LOL.. Well, we've now moved to Florence and I might have to agree with her.. We so MISS Pancho's! The Salsa is the best ever! I love their taco's, they have just the right amount of ground beef to toppings (toppings are important too) not to mention Pancho's tacos are NOT soggy, it will be crunchy to the last bite. My husband always got the super-burrito and it was always more than he could eat in one setting so we took half home for later. I miss Sophia, what an excellent waitress! As far as the atmosphere, it was pleasant and they play a light Mexican/Spanish salsa music but it was never too loud or intrusive. We love you and miss you Pancho's! My boyfriend ordered the fish burrito and I ordered pork enchiladas. Unfortunately, this was the worst meal we have ever had at a restaurant. Our plates were definitely microwaved. Chewy and dry pork and seafood. Terrible sauces on both dishes. If you are at all into food and know good food, do NOT eat here. My friend and I started out with Margaritas, chips and salsa and then I ordered the vegetable burrito which is both huge and delicious filled with mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, pinto beans and smothered in a delicious green veggie sauce.i ordered a side of rice which was so good I could have licked the plate!! Horrible service, rude servers, couldn't even eat the food I ordered because they wouldn't correct my order without me paying for a new one. I have dietary restrictions that wouldn't allow me to eat the first order I received. The menu did not make it clear that their tamales are smothered in red sauce and melted cheese (I've never received tamales made in this way before). I ate here today with a friend and we had a delightful and delicious meal. I had only been here once many years ago under different circumstances. My fish tacos, rice and beans were the best I've had in a Mexican restaurant. Our waitress couldn't have been friendlier and the chips and salsa disappeared fast and on the way out I bought a bottle of the salsa for the home. This place is deceptively big with three rooms and plenty of parking in back. I can hardly wait to give Pancho's another visit and try something else on their menu. After being turned away from using our gift certificate because management no longer takes older certificates I conversed with a friend of mine and she said that companies must honor these certificates due to a law that states they have give value for the certificate. I find it very depressing that they hoard their money instead of doing the professional thing and honoring money well spent to continue support for their business. I was hesitant about finding good Mexican food in Oregon as I'm from California and we literally have Mexican restaurants at every corner (kind of an exaggeration, but we have a ton). Anyways, I found this place on Yelp so I came here for lunch. First off, they give your free chips and salsa right as you sit down. The chips were nice and thin and crispy and fresh. And the salsa was sooooo good. They actually sell it! Which I'm bummed I forgot to buy some to take home with me. Ordered: Vegetarian fajitas I know it's such a simple dish, but it was so good! They served it with pinto beans and guac and I added some sour cream. The veggies were perfectly cooked (onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, and thinly sliced carrots). I also had them refill our salsa dish so I could put some of that yumminess on top of my tacos that I was making. Also, everyone was super friendly here!
