Worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. After reviewing the menu before entering, we were promptly seated and cold water was quickly brought to us to cool us down from a horrible heat wave. My daughter ordered a cheeseburger and I had my heart set on a nice roast chicken. While choosing my sauce, I was told they were out of truffle mayo. I found this strange as it's not too hard to get a truffle in Amsterdam. (BTW - they charge for ketchup and mayo.) Anyway, I decided that a pesto mayo might be nice with my chicken and fries and happily chose it. We are sitting for quite a while when the server comes to tell me that the restaurant also ran out of chicken. It was 4:30pm and they were open until midnight. Instead of a simple 12 euro chicken dish, he started to convince me to try the 32 euro entrecôte. Not what I came in for. In order to divert a scene, I asked for a burger and hoped to be done with it. He continued to push other dishes like salads and corned beef. I tried to politely end it. My daughter wanted to leave but I insisted I would be ok. The burgers finally came and we were very underwhelmed. Huge bun, tiny burger. A bit of gristle led to me to doubt it was angus beef. The fries also left much to be desired. We were almost done when he realizes I ordered pesto mayo. I BEGGED him not to bring it. It was meant for the chicken! As apologetic as he was, I was really having a hard time keeping my cool and couldn't leave there fast enough. Is it possible we were being filmed for a Dutch reality show - How fast can you drive your customers crazy? It wasn't just our table. He forgot drinks and a burger for a table nearby. He threw the lame "I'm the only server" at us. There were only 5 tables - only two eating.
Please save yourself the frustration. It's a chill place but not all that glitters is gold. read more
