Cute little breakfast place just a short walk from the street, Leidseplein. It wasn't busy at all--I think we were their only guests at the time. It was our last breakfast in Amsterdam and we wanted something light. We ordered a nutella crepe and baby Dutch pancakes to share. It was enough for our party to share. The Dutch pancakes were served with some sort of Dutch syrup (Stroopstift was similar to molasses and the other, Schenkstroop, was a syrup of some kind) and there was also Poeder Suiker--powdered sugar, which is what I opted for on the pancakes. Came for some American style pancakes and was pleasantly surprised. The American style pancakes here are about the size of an eggo waffle. They are very dense and are very flavorful and sweet especially when drizzled with the maple syrup and enjoyed with the powdered sugar. The omelette is not folded as i would expect back in ny but it was very filling and made eating the imlette more of a filling experience. Came here for some breakfast type of food although it was well into the evening. We really wanted American pancakes. As we stumbled upon this spot we did just that. We ordered American pancakes and since they didn't really serve eggs, we ordered a a plain yellow omelette with our choice of toppings. The syrup for the pancakes must have been some authentic syrup as it was very dark and thick. However it was very delicious. To drink I ordered Brazilian coffee with Kalua not realizing it was spiked. While there my boyfriend and myself noticed some other Americans there then we realized it was wack 100. We had a nice brunch at Pancake Bar. Here's my SFAP rating: Service: If 3.5 stars were possible on Yelp this is what I would rate them due to the service. It wasn't bad but not great either. They were not especially friendly or attentive and the food did not come out at the same time. But this is understandable due to the size of the kitchen. Food: The pancakes we ordered were yummy. They weren't the best I ever had but they were definitely tasty and there were a lot of options to choose from. They were also massive :-). Ambiance: It was comfortable inside but somewhat stale & standard. No major complaints but nothing to write home about. I think they could benefit from more personal touches and better lighting. The menu is simple but it was exactly what we were looking for. My BF ordered the omelet which was 4-5 eggs. It was huge and fluffy. I ordered the Dutch pancake with bananas. Perfect. What a great little surprise!! We were walking without direction, hungry, a little hungover and wanting breakfast at 2pm. We stopped here just because it was on our way. No idea what to expect. We immediately ordered orange juice and cappuccinos. The juice is freshly squeezed and is awesome. The cappuccino is done to the point. My boyfriend had the burger. It was huge.
