Adorable local bakery. They are small but mighty having a variety of delicious goods. Besides sweet & savory baked goods, there were tortillas & queso & other treats. There were so many things we wanted but stuck with a coffee & a couple of good like their concha muffin & couple of other goods. Staff was nice and you can see those ladies turn out trays of baked goods and getting them on the shelf fast. Definitely baked fresh. A place we will visit again.

Colorful concha muffins! Always fresh, the top layover concha and a soft muffin in the bottom

Beware, you will fall in love with this panadería lol! Bring mother to cover the cost because there is a lot of options! One of the best panaderia in the country! This bakery offer traditional and modern pastries from Mexico and US along w/ unique tortilla flavors, pastry, treats and more.

Such a cute place and the people were super nice. ! We got a little bit of everything. But we couldn't leave without getting a heart shaped concha for Valentine's Day! It was so delicious and the bread was soft and very flavorful!

Just a fraction of their offerings.

Panaderia paradise is what this place is. If I weren't so happy with them, I would be angry that they've set the bar for panaderías so high that now I would pass on ones that are closer to me just to make the trip here. For me this really is worth going out of my way for. My go to has been rebanada de mantequilla, buñuelos and of course churros, exceptionally good churros. How good? Well, I had one cold the next day and it was still crispy and delicious, so I can only imagine how good it would be to get this fresh at the bakery, or if I were less lazy and gluttonous and heated it back up in the oven myself. The place itself is very clean and everyone working there was quite friendly and polite. Not surprisingly it gets a little bit busy in this small place, but it is worth it to sample the dizzying array of baked goods here. Fantastic panaderia and I am both happy and sad they are not right next door to me, because if they were, I would be here all the time.

A longtime business in Pilsen is this classic Hispanic bakery with many sweet breads and cookies. It has a lot to choose from. Panaderia Nuevo León offers tons of good stuff. Literally dozens of different pastries all made daily. They even have a humongous vegan selection of classic sweets. For me this is a must stop when around here. It has among the best vegan selection in a bakery anywhere and there's quite a lot. The prices are great too. Get everything from cookies, doughnuts, and full cakes as well. Amazing they have so much packed into here. They have everything ready for you to come in, pick out what you want, and place it on a tray. Among the vegan choices are conchas. It's about $1.65 each. These are kind of like cookies or doughnuts, fluffy and sweet. Also they have vegan cupcakes. It's about $3 each. These are humongous. Also you can order a whole cake. They apparently can make a vegan one but call ahead to place an order. Get a lot for not a lot. It's important to get there as early as possible. They often run out of many things.

Service still the same straight forward. I just wanted to update that this flavor of tres leches is disgusting! The "chocolate" does not taste like chocolate at all. It tastes like a very thick paste. No chocolate flavor at all. Would not recommend this flavor Tres Leches at all.

Everything is fresh and delicious. Their bread is the best for sandwiches. The flavored flour tortillas are amazing.

My main grudge on this night was the pour of sparkling wine (brut). Champagne flutes are typically six ounces. A standard pour of wine is five ounces. That means a pour of sparkling wine should stop about 1 inch from the rim of the glass*. Not so this time. I thought the bartender had emptied the bottle and was going to continue his pour with a new bottle, but no - that was not the case (I was seated at the bar.) I had gotten only about 3 out of 5 ounces of a $16 glass of wine. Not cool since every patron is charged an automatic 20% hospitality surcharge per check. (It looked more like a pour for a toast at a wedding!) Other than this major lapse in bartending etiquette - and yes, I considered saying something at the time but did not, hence, this review - my meal was fine (with the exception of the onion tart - not what I expected an onion tart to be: go with the crab cake!). *Note: I have worked part-time in F&B from 1994 to 2024 in all manner of restaurants/catering/country clubs, etc., including as a BASSET certified bartender, so I know what a pour of wine should be (and look like) in a standard champagne flute!

I got a beer, Maplewood IPA, and vegan nachos with "beef". They were very wet, they also had mixed greens on top which were nice but weird. Lincoln Ave., and between the menu and the name (yes, the elephant caught my attention), I knew I had to check it out. There's plenty of street parking in the area, I went on a Sunday, so meters were free. The interior is bright, green, and inviting, with lots of seating and great natural light coming in from the front windows. There's also outdoor seating, but it was a bit too cold the day we went, so we stayed inside. Service is counter-style, and the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu. It's fairly simple, but still fun and satisfying. I ordered an Impossible burger, tater tots, and a strawberry almond milk smoothie. My friend got fries, so I was able to try both. After over 40 days without fried food, I was especially excited for the tots and they did not disappoint. Overall, the food was good and solid across the board. Nothing that completely blew me away, but definitely satisfying. If you're vegan or vegetarian and craving a classic burger experience, this is a great option. The smoothie was good as well, though I personally prefer fruit-forward smoothies with lighter juices, so the almond milk base wasn't quite my favorite, but it still complemented the meal nicely. Overall, if you're looking for a casual sit-down spot with a cute atmosphere and a solid Impossible burger at a reasonable price, Elephant + Vine is a great choice. 3.5 out of 5 stars.
