Bad campechanas, bad conchas, I have to feed to the birds.
    Marco R.

Unfortunately this Panadería went from a 5 star, to a common 2 star panadería. On my original review, I mentioned I had found the best panadería in the DFW area. To someone who grew up along the top pastry chefs in Mexico, I thought I had the winner. Somehow, they lost their baker, he quit, or retired. El Sol had the "premium" grade pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread), called "campechana", a flaky crust crispy bread that melts in your mouth. And people in Irving used to line up for their campechanas. I walked in, and to my surprise, the campechana tray was full, I thought, "so lucky of me" to find some in the afternoon. Before, campechanas would sell out like pancakes by 10 am. So I bought plenty of campechanas, 3 conchas, one pumpkin empanada, 2 pan de pan (bread pudding), and one "novia" (crispy concha that resembles a bride's dress). I was extremely disappointed, because I drove 30 miles to El Sol, to find that El Sol went from the best in town to an average, or below average panadería, SADLY I WILL LOOK FORWARD TO FINDING THE BEST, NOT EL SOL.

Panaderia El Sol, it's a good thing you are not a neighborhood joint for me, else I'd be in there every day of the week getting sweet treats to stuff my face. Everything is baked fresh and constantly replenished. I love getting the big round tray and picking and choosing what I want to try, and they also include different treats some days. What I got in my latest excursion here - Conchas - Amarilla and Chocolate Barquillo Bavaria - Pastry with a cream filling Empanada Piña Rollo de Mango Rollo de Canela (Cinnamon roll) Tres Leches - pick up a big slab of this if you go, it's really good and it is not soggy at all - perfect ratio of cake to milk/cream The best part about the place is that most of the items are less than a dollar per piece. For the price and taste, it deserves 5 stars all day!

This one s 2 examples and they were to good to eat! 10/10 would recommend to you and your family!

I love this store me and my family always get it on Sundays it's the best ones and the Concha's are gonna be your new favorite thing to eat in the morning and you and your family are gonna LOVE it!

Not a place that you would sit for long periods of time, but it was neat, clean and gave opportunity for quiet conversation. The food: I ordered the Morning Toast and a regular Thai tea. The Morning Toast intrigued me because I had never had a breakfast sandwich with pickles and slaw. I must say, it was delicious! Never expected that flavor profile to work. The Thai Tea was delicious as well. The cost was $20 that included my tip. I bought some Dubai Chocolate Cheesecake. I will take it to share with my family. I will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items.

Low quality drinks (powder, generic syrup flavoring). Their bar workstation was insanely packed and dirty with large jugs of all sorts of colors. Some breads look like they were doused in food coloring while others had yummy representation. The apple pie bread was good and dense. Cake slices are good, not too sweet, and affordable compared to its well-known Asian bakery stores like 85C, PB, etc. I got the Oreo cheesecake and it was yummy, except no trace of cheesecake was found. The girls working looked like they hate their lives and radiated that energy off to me. Meh.

The food looks delicious and well labeled and organized in the casing. All allergies and food ingredients are listed. I am obsessed with anything they do with strawberries and chocolate and my recent favorite is the Belgian waffle with strawberries and chocolate drizzle. Yum! My constant favorite is the Lavender Matcha Frappuccino, I get it every time I go. I also really love the Matcha mochi doughnut on the side sometimes. They have great breakfast sandwiches as well, but if you're like me, you ask them for a special order to take the mayonnaise/mustard off of it. You cannot go wrong with this place. The outdoor patio consists of just a couple of tables on the sidewalk, which can make it difficult if you're visiting alone with your dog, as there's no shaded or cooled seating outside while you go in to order. And inside it's not dog friendly. Inside, the décor presents a mix of tables and chairs that matches the French café atmosphere. The menu focuses mainly on French pastries. Prices are on the higher side, so I was hoping for a bit more in terms of quality. I tried the six mini croissants (around $7), which were good but tasted slightly stale. The crab pastry was the highlight--fresh, flavorful, and something I'd happily order again. I also tried the Nutella-filled sugar doughnut, which was a bit disappointing. The filling was quite runny and tasted more diluted than rich, lacking the distinctive hazelnut thick flavor you'd expect. I was looking forward to eating a croissant today, but this place didn't quite have what I was expecting

I started with the croque monsieur, and it was exactly what I was craving. The cheese was perfectly melted and bubbly, and that hint of dill on top really pulled it all together. I also grabbed a slice of the lorraine quiche, which was incredibly savory with a crust that was so buttery and flaky it practically melted in my mouth. For dessert, the chocolate kouign-amann was a total standout, super crispy on the outside with those rich, sweet layers inside. I paired it with an iced chai latte, which was perfectly spiced and not overly sweet. They have a small outdoor seating section that is perfect for catching some fresh air while you eat. The whole experience felt so authentic and high-quality. I am already looking forward to my next visit!
