We had a nice lunch here yesterday. The lunch menu is based on pairings of appetizers and entrees combined for only $9.99 drink included. This is a tremendous bargain. The servings are not skimpy so you won't go away hungry. We tried the Arancini, Ceasar salad, Chicken Madiera, Salmon, Hummus and Veg and tilapia. Everything came out quickly and was hot and fresh. The Ceasar was a good example of the type. Everything else was well above average. The fish was breaded and baked and not overdone, the Arancini was very nice the risotto was tender and the breading crisp, the salmon was well done a served on a bed a tasty vegetables. The chicken was moist and tender. Overall this was a great lunch experience. We tipped generously since the prices are too low for the server to live on. I decided to try this upscale, rather pricey restaurant due to COVID restrictions in place where I live (St Louis County), and the traffic post zoo visit. Service was good and the food was okay, not extraordinary , for the price. It's across from a Greek restaurant that is better quality wise, and less pricey. I got the seafood linguine, and while it was good, the portion size was not equal to the price. My friend got the shrimp scampi, recommended by the server, but quite unremarkable. Lack of flavor throughout the meal was consistent. Pretty average. Escargots are served out of shell with a sauce...good, but I would have rather the traditional rendition. The olive bread is truly great. The desert was very good. Lemon cello cake was very lemony and Turkish coffee was great. Might come back for small plates. read more

I came here on a groupon with my husband on a Wednesday. Tasty food, okay service. Recommend: phyllo cigars, lamb kofte & piyaz, and chicken prosciutto ravioli. We had trouble finding parking, they have their own lot but it was very busy. Once I walked into the restaurant (husband still looking for parking) no one greeted me, there was no host stand and a waitress kept walking by me serving her tables. I was confused about what to do, finally I stopped the waitress and she said, we will be right with you. After a couple more minutes I was seated. The attire was fairly nice, people were dressed business casual and up. We started off with a glass of wine and a Guinness, then we ordered the phyllo cigars for a first bite. I got the less expensive of the two pinot grigios and it was very good. The phyllo cigars were super tasty, highly recommend they come with a nice tomato dipping sauce and are stuffed with feta plus for $5 they are a good price. Bread was also delivered to our table, served with olive oil and Parmesan, the bread was warm and crispy, yum. For our main dish, I got the lamb kofte & piyaz and my husband got the chicken prosciutto ravioli. The lamb dish was good but simple. It had 4 or 5 good sized lamb "meatballs", a yogurt dipping sauce, cannelloni beans, and a big roasted tomato. The ravioli was very flavorful and in a creamy sauce. Still love this place. But last time we went two weeks ago we were seated upstairs for the first time. Unfortunately the ambiance up there just isn't the same as the rest of the restaurant. The lighting just isn't that good. Try to avoid it if possible. Also, the last two times I've gone the tilapia, which is an excellent dish, seems to be coming in rather small portions. This is by far one of the best and most consistent restaurants in St louis. I keep trying different things on the menu and they are all good. Had a delicious meal, a bit classier joint here... The appetizer was rich and savory mussels with succulent tomatoes, sweet savoury garlic, all in clam jus. Also Phyllo cigars stuffed with herbed feta. The entree was Juicy tender Lamb Shank with garlic and seasoned Rice Pilof and a Grilled Lemon Pork Chop with bone in and a savory Lemon seasoning and rich buttery garlic mashed potatoes with brown gravy, the mashed potatoes are rich delicious. Side items were Olive Bread and regular bread with olive oil and butter, Topped off by the richest apple pie a la mode that I ever had. The homemade apple pie with ice cream was delish. They have their own parking lot and outdoor dinning patio also. They have great tasting water too. There were some not so favorable reviews that kept me away.. but I'm so glad we went last night. Our goal was some happy hour appetizers and then dinner but we ended up filling up on appetizers. I think our total food bill for two people was $10. I really liked the arancini was awesome and flavorful but I wasn't that much of a fan of the phylloh cigars. The highlight was the Pan D'Olive Flatbread. $5 at happy hour! Nice beer and wine selection. TV's on your favorite sports teams. Bar manager nice and friendly.. good salesman. The owner is the chef.. from what I understand he is amazing. They stopped serving lunch and are concentrating on dinner. My wish is that they would add a brunch. Has anyone made the joke about panning Pan D'Olive yet? Because, wow, this place is super terrible. Our server was mostly absent and left us waiting for our check for over ten minutes after we'd given up on trying to eat the food. My partner's Pepsi glass came with bright pink lipstick on it, and when we pointed it out to a server the guy laughed and asked if he had tasted it, LITERALLY IF MY PARTNER HAD FELT THE LIPSTICK ON HIS MOUTH. He also apologized, but we were still charged for the Pepsi my partner didn't drink. But not for the bonus lipstick, so, yay? I ordered a vegetarian pasta dish that left a gross greasy film in my mouth but was otherwise tasteless. My partner got the pork chop and garlic mashed potatoes, both of which tasted more like burnt and neither of which tasted like garlic. The mashed potatoes were watery and the meat was a poor quality chop with a weird texture. We did love the salads and the olive bread. read more

Welcome to the neighborhood Pan d'Olive because you are awesome! From service to dinner fare, my first visit was perfection. Let's start with atmosphere. This place is contemporary and beautiful. My favorite part is that we were seating in an enclosed booth that created a very intimate dining experience. You could see and hear everyone else, but you barely knew they were there. Being so new, I was convinced that the service would be sub-par. How wrong I was! We were treated wonderfully. The perfect balance of not being overbearing, but not forgetting about us - which is probably hard to maintain for a busy server. Everyone seemed so genuine, which was refreshing. The food was excellent. On top of how great it tasted, you get excellent value for the prices. Small plates all sounded fantastic - we tried the roasted red pepper bruschetta (stunning presentation and my favorite taste-wise), the phyllo cigars (good but a little plain, even with the dose of herbs in the filling) and the arancini (stuffed with steak, potato and gorgonzola - good, but hard to taste the filling). The salads and the bread basket were all great. For the main dish, I chose the filet mignon. It was so good - cooked perfectly with a great crust and grill flavor. It was topped with blue cheese sauce and came with spinach. I also got a side of mashed potatoes that were, ironically, a wonderful balance of creamy and chunky. Everything was stellar. Decided to try this place on a whim.... When we walked in, the atmosphere was lovely. We were greeted and taken to a booth which was very nice. Our waiter, Victor, greeted us quickly and we ordered a glass of wine; Pinot Grigio for hubby and Sangiovese for me. We were served olive bread and a white bread with oil. My only thought about the bread service is that the oil was blah....no taste and no seasonings. We ordered the carpaccio for the appetizer and it was delicious with capers, greens and oil. By this time, I'm noticing my wine is a little sour so I switched to the Pinot noir and it was perfect. Hubby had the Brancini fish and loved it. The menu said gluten free and it came with seasoned spaghetti noodles. I had the Lamb shank which was served with rice. It was delicious with a savory sauce. We did our check in and asked about a free glass of wine but it did not apply to our wine we'd already had. There were specific wines they want to use for that. I live nearby and had been wanting to order from this establishment for some time. I couldn't tease apart whether it was Pan d'Olive or Olympia Kebab next door that was responsible for the delicious smell. We finally ordered recently and decided to get our food to go. I was pretty disappointed with the grilled trout and my partner was not especially impressed by the portabella mushroom ravioli. I was happy to see the skin served with the trout, but it was considerably burnt rather than crisp. The sautéed spinach was fine. We both thought the mussels were average and that portions were underwhelming for the cost, which was a bit on the pricier side. I honestly haven't decided whether I'll give them another try in the future; if I do, it'll be because of convenience. But with The Hill just around a few more corners, I doubt it'll ever be my first choice. read more

We had reservations at 6:30 on a Friday for dinner. As we sat down, there was only one other table, but the place filled up very quickly. They only have a handful of dining room tables. However, about a third of them are quaint private booths. The appetizers were good. The lamb sliders (gunless) stood out. The meat was seasoned, and not greasy at all. For dinner I tried the sea bass that was on special. It was broiled with simple seasoning served as a full fish... head and all. It was good... just watch out for the bones. My fiance tried the canneloni. This too was good. Again, the meat stuffed inside was flavored very well. All in all, this is a great place. However, I'd suggest trying the happy hour before jumping both feet in with a full dinner. The dinner was good, but not nearly as good as Harvest or a few other upscale places in the area. read more

My wife and I eat dinner out 5 to 6 nights per week and I have been to pan d Olive many times before. My prior experiences have been consistent as I find the food good but overall priced slightly high and the staff there to be middle of the road. Tonight the male bar tender who apparently doubles as a floor manager has made it certain we will never walk through the door again. One of the important characteristics of a restaurant for us is that the staff is friendly and engaging and sincere. The male bartender tonight without any provocation was highly condescending and rude. Employees like this especially in the restaurant business are a recipe for a slow death. Hopefully the ownership will recognize this sooner than later. I would recommend selecting other restaurants appreciate and treat customers with respect. read more

When the appetizers came out, they were fresh out of the fryer -- hot, but not killer hot. The arancini were sitting on a tomato-cheese sauce. The phyllo cigars were served with a tomato-based sauce. We shared, so I got an arancini, and she got 1-1/2 phyllo cigars. They were both tremendously flavorful and full-bodied. The phyllo cigars were stuffed with dill feta. Besides risotto, the arancini were filled with gorgonzola and steak. Our entrees were equally impressive, but less eaten. We were both kinda full -- not stuffed, but comfortable. I took two bites of my tender chicken, which had a tomato and mushroom sauce, and two bites of zucchini (cut on the bias rather thickly to maintain its integrity) beautifully sautéed to the point of lovely browned crispness. She took two bites of one ravioli, proclaimed it excellent, and we both took home a bunch o' food. By the time we left, place was pretty filled up . . . just like we were. read more

I arrived a little late so my sis and the bf had already devoured most of the calamari. They seemed to enjoy it. My sister and I both started with caesar salads. Salad was standard but good. My sister tried to order the lobster ravioli but they were out. Her second choice was the seafood linguine and she was pleased. I didn't get to taste but I from the looks of the sauce splashing around I think it could have been reduced a little more. Her bf ordered the chicken tortelloni and he devoured it - meaning I didn't get a bite. Again I thought the sauce could have been a bit thicker but that's just what I gathered from the appearance. I went with the veal scallopine picatta. I absolutely loved the roasted veg on the side and thought the sauce had a pleasant lemony caperyness to it (yes, I made that word up). The veal I thought was okay but if I were to order the dish again I might go with chicken. We all shared the tiramisu for dessert and it was another standard but tasty dish. We were there 5:30/6ish and were the only ones in the back dining room at first but as we were finishing up the room was getting more crowded. This place looks like it caters to an older crowd as we were the youngest table in the restaurant. All in all - decent food but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to return. For lunch today I wanted calamari and a salad. They handed me a lunch menu that didn't have calamari. I asked if I could get it and the waiter said he would go ask and left the menu. After a few minutes he showed up with my salad and said I could get the calamari. 2 minutes later he showed up with the calamari. The salad was great, the bread (which they are know for) seemed day old and hard to chew as was the calamari. It was very obviously previously cooked and quickly reheated in got grease. It was dry inside and chewed like cardboard. I was really disappointed. read more

Our first visit to Pad D'olive was wonderful and beyond our expectations. They checked our temperatures at the door. We decided to eat at the bar. Theo was our bartender/server. We had the Phyllo Cigars stuffed with herbed feta cheese for starters which were delicious. I had the Wedge Salad with Gorgonzola cheese (Theo says the Gorgonzola cheese is a Mediterranean touch, instead of blue cheese or Roquefort). The salad was scrumptious; the wedge was beautiful but I dived into too fast and forgot to take the picture before I cut it up. It was a beautiful presentation. Mary had the breaded and grilled tenderloin medallions Modiga with melted mozzarella cheese and mushrooms with garlic mashed potatoes. I had one of the specials, Chilean Sea Bass topped with a tomato-olive tamponade. Both were delicious (my wife and I always share). We also shared the Creme brûlée and gobbled it up before thinking to take a picture first. We each had two drinks and then shared a B&B with our coffee. We will definitely go back! read more

Pan D'olive is a nice, elegant, upscale restaurant that still has a casual vibe. I came here for the first time on Friday night with my boyfriend courtesy of a Groupon. I've been seeing the groupon for this place for years and I've been wanting to check it out but never really got the chance until that night. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice with a very elegant dining room. The bar area was jam-packed as I heard that there was a party taking place at the restaurant that night so it was a little on the loud side. When first entering, we were confused by where the hostess station was. We asked one gentleman at the bar who we thought work there because of his positioning, but he said that he was actually a guest. it was at that point that a host approached us and we were then seated quickly. For our meal we had the snails, shared the house side salad, and had the veal piccata and the steak. All of the food was really good. When I return, I will probably get a different dish, eventhough there was nothing wrong with my veal piccata. I was pleased to see that my boyfriend's steak was prepared properly to the medium well temperature that he requested. Lately it seems that when I go to restaurants that are not steak houses, and even some that are, I've been getting disappointed by them not accommodating my temperature request, so I really appreciate the chefs at PDO getting that right. The steak was also served with a nice garganzola sauce that he had on the side. it made for a really unique flavor with the steak. There's also complimentary bread which included an interesting olive bread. It had olives baked into the bread itself. My boyfriend ordered a Long Island iced tea and talked to our waiter about wanting something strong. What he was served was straight liquor and was almost like pure alcohol. He loved it! The family and I enjoyed our dinner at Pan d'Olive very much. I called a few hours early to make reservations, however it was probably not necessary since the place was 3/4 empty when we got out there at 7:30. The ambiance was great though, and the servers attentive and willing to accomodate our food modification requests. We are not picky eaters by any means but it is always nice when restaurants go out of their way to ensure that even the slightest customer's desires are fulfilled! They serve a basket of sliced bread and olive oil and cheese as a starter. We ordered 2 appetizers: hummus and calamari. Entrees were flatbread napoleotana, veal marsala and lobster ravioli. As dessert we had the baklava, new to us but we enjoyed it very much. Everything was super delectable, however my favorite thing was the hummus and pita bread. I don't know what magic ingredients they put in that hummus but it was astonishing!! Um um um. The happy hour at Pan d'Olive sounds pretty amazing, so I will be checking that out soon! read more

This restaurant gets its name from the fresh olive bread they serve - which is wonderful! The menu is rooted in old world Mediterranean fare, but has a slight modern flair, too. The weather was wonderful, so even though the outside eating area overlooks the parking area, we opted to sit outside. The grape vines on the trellises were beautiful and healthy and just about to burst into fruit! Our entrees included the walnut encrusted trout, seafood linguine - clams, shrimp, white fish, mussels, over bed of linguine, and a lamb kofte special. The trout was a healthy serving and perfectly prepared. Clams, mussels and shrimp over a bed of linguine was another healthy portion and half ended up in a to-go box! Again, delicious, attractively presented and perfectly prepared. Lamb is a personal favorite, but if I had it to do over again, I would've opted for something else. It tasted ok (meat was a bit dry) but less than appealing appearance-wise: looked like two crisscrossed sausages. It came with a very thin (runny) yogurt cucumber sauce - not the standard tzatziki one would expect. Entrees will run you about $22, pastas around $16-18, so it's not overly pricey, but the addition of a couple adult beverages or bottle of wine can change that in a heartbeat. The overall experience was mediocre. The waiter seemed very apathetic and was almost rude. He interrupted me in the middle of my order and tried to push my boyfriend to order salad. We didn't order drinks and in response he said nothing and walked away. The bread came with olive oil, and was pretty normal. But ten minutes later some other waitress appears with butter when were on our last piece of bread and sets it down without saying a word. Confusing... We ordered chicken & rice soup (which could have been less oily) and calamari (which could have been more crispy) for apps. The entrees were just okay as well. Shrimp scampi pasta had a funky aftertaste and the shrimp was slightly over cooked and burnt. The veal was also too oily. Overall the food was underwhelming. Seems like the place could've been more popular a few years ago but never kept up with the times.
