Our favorite time to visit is Sunday brunch, especially since they have a special menu. We recently came for Father's Day, and even though Julio was celebrating as a father himself, he was working incredibly hard to make sure every guest had a great experience. You can really see how much heart and dedication he pours into his business. As expected on Father's Day, there was a bit of a wait, especially since we were a larger party, but none of us minded. To thank us for our patience, Julio generously brought out croquetas for the table on the house, which was such a thoughtful gesture. I can't recommend Trigo Café enough. The food is consistently excellent, the service is warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels like home. While brunch is our favorite, their lunch and dinner are just as great, and the new tapas and wine area they recently added is a fantastic addition. If you haven't been, you're missing out!

I stopped by after the lunch rush to have a hialeah heat sandwich was the perfect version of typical cuban sandwich with a kick. I loved the touch of spicy in my sandwich. I also had a cafe bom bom that was really good. Loved the condensed milk. The girl who served me was very attentive to me when I visited and helped me with any questions i had; made me feel very welcomed. When i couldn't finish my coffee she packed it up for me in a to go cup.

I ordered a medianoche sandwich (Cuban sandwich on sweet bread) and my colleague ordered a pollo asado (chicken) lunch special. The food came out very quickly - probably in about 5 minutes or so. My medianoche was messy but it was very hot and fresh, and most especially delicious. Perfect ratio of ham to pork to cheese to bread. I ordered a cafecito (Cuban coffee) to help me power through my afternoon at work. Hot, sweet, and strong - the characteristics of a perfect cafecito. Total for sandwich and cafecito was $5.50. That's a pretty good price for a pretty fulfilling meal. So if you're looking for solid Cuban food in Medley, Las Mercedes is a great choice!

Since then post Covid, ehh food is hit or miss. Today I ordered eggs w/ ham, bacon & cheese with fries. (I added my own avocado for taste) I barely got an fries. Nothing was seasoned, no salt or pepper added. Bacon was barely damned cooked!! It's time to find a new place, or get my Hispanic/Latin coworkers to order for me. They always get better treatment, then my black self.
