Amazing experience! the staff were super friendly and accommodating. They quickly seated us despite being a party of 10 on a Holiday weekend. Both Servers were incredibly friendly and attentive when it came to refilling coffees around the table. Food was phenomenal, I don't think anybody had any complaints about anything that was ordered and everything looked amazing. Portion sizes are huge. I had the chicken fried steak, which I highly recommend. Eggs were scrambled perfectly, being light and fluffy. The fry was nice and crisp despite being covered in gravy. And I recommend substituting the toast with their biscuits which are also huge.

We were in Bend for less than 24 hrs and were looking for a breakfast spot before heading out of town. The reviews of Palmer's brought us here. I am glad that happened. I had the Sparks Lake Omelette. The corned beef was flavorful and tender. Corned beef is risky in that it could be chewy. Not here. The potatoes looked dry and plain. Wrong. They were silly flavorful. Their biscuits are huge and tasty. And an important detail, the butter for the biscuit wasn't frozen solid. It was spreadable! This may seem like a small thing to cite, but I can't stand it when I am served rock solid butter in the metal wrapper. The serving staff were friendly and attentive. Some of the cons. The parking lot is small and it shares parking with their small hotel. So, try to arrive in one vehicle or walk here. The restaurant has limited seating too. Also, the presumed owner kept on coming over to us to talk about the business and his family. It was fine before we ordered, but he interrupted our conversation and eating many times.

Food was subpar and expensive for what you get. The service was decent but nothing special. Palmers of years back was great now it's just a basic cafe with food that is just blah. I had the country fried steak and gravy eggs with potatoes. The wife had a flavorless biscuit benedict with ham and gravy. The country steak was thin and obviously from frozen. Gravy on both was a non traditional brownish creamy type stuff that wasn't flavorful at all. I did order a side of bacon (3 pcs) and wife had a hot coffee cocktail. For the $57 it cost it certainly wasn't worth it

A Bend institution that was recently remodeled. - Biscuits and gravy: OK but no more than that. The biscuits were a bit dry, tasteless and the gravy not much better, although you can add some seasoning to help. A two-biscuit order is a huge amount of food. You'll think you mistakenly went to Jake's instead of Palmer's. - Pancakes: Solid. If you like pancakes, you'll probably not be disappointed. - Veggie scramble: The veggie omelet but ordered scrambled. Very nice. Good service, friendly folks. A-OK.

We were greeted at the door and seated with minimal wait time on a Friday morning. Wait staff was courteous, friendly, and happy to be there. Beautiful local photography displayed throughout the restaurant. Food was fresh and delicious. We would definitely eat here whenever we're back in town. Officially noted on our short list.

Cozy little dinner with a local vibe. Super delicious food I got the gravy eggs Benedict and an iced tea. Wait staff was super sweet 10/10 recommend!

The hash browns are excellent but the rest is that much better!

The food is definitely a step up from a low-end greasy spoon diner, but not enough to justify the prices. Two of us paid over $30 for two large breakfasts and coffee, and the coffee was not very good. There was plenty of tasty food, but the quality of ingredients, presentation, and ambience is far below that of, e.g., Sparrow Bakery (where our smaller but more delicious breakfast cost about $10 less!). I did take home a box with some leftovers, which is unusual for me, so if you have a very large appetite this might be your place. read more

Start your morning right! Was in Bend for 1 night and went to Palmer's for breakfast based on other Yelp reviews. Not disappointed! i ordered the breakfast quesadilla (my favorite food group) and could not have been happier. My friends ordered pancakes and a breakfast burrito and the entire table was quiet because we were too busy eating. Not to mention, my friend and I are coffee addicts and our cup never went below the halfway line. Lovely and sweet staff -- would definitely come again if I'm ever back in Bend. read more

Food was good but service wasn't great at all. Waitress took forever to take our order and we had to flag her down for more coffee even though we finished our meals. Never checked on us, got my husbands order wrong but we couldn't fix it anyways because our waitress never came back. read more

Probably the best HIDDEN GEM in Bend. Great family like service. We went for breakfast and I had the special (3 cream pancakes with berries... INCREDIBLE) and we also had the 1/2 (but generous portion) of the "Kitchen Sink". read more

On my way back from Montana to Portland.Spotted this cute little place on Yelp.I'm kinda picky about where I eat out and this place totally impressed me.I had the Palmers scramble.Absolutely yummy! The owners and staff are super friendly.If you're traveling through Bend,I recommend this place.Its kind of tucked away so make sure you don't drive past it. read more

WOW! A must eat when in Bend, OR. Small cafe attached to Palmer's Motel. Heated waiting area outside with coffee if too crowed. Very friendly service, incredible food, large portions, and homemade salsa. Great breakfast/brunch spot...open 'til 2pm. We went here after reading all of the incredible Yelp reviews. Neither of us can figure out why or how this place gets such fantastic accolades. The best part of our experience was the service. Everyone was extremely friendly, and the water/coffee refills were timely. However, aside from that, this would be a two star review. I ordered the kitchen sink with a scrambled egg on top. The potatoes and veggies were oily and not very flavorful. My BF had the Mediterranean scramble which he said was very average, and actually said his cinnamon toast with jelly was the highlight of the meal. He ordered fresh fruit as his side, which looked like canned fruit with one blueberry and one strawberry chunk added for "freshness". The coffee was also very sub-par, especially with so many good coffee options in Bend. Maybe it was just an off day for the cook or something, but we were not impressed. read more

We were headed to a different spot but ended up at Palmer's by accident. But what a surprise! There is drip coffee for you as you wait (though it will be charged to you later once seated). Portions here are large and in charge! The breakfast burrito was twice the size of the usual. I had the country scramble which was really just biscuits and gravy with some eggs and bacon. There hardly were any eggs since it was buried beneath the biscuits and gravy. Loved the homemade biscuit though, it was just the right consistency and still moist even without the gravy! Yummy!!! read more

Took a chance & glad we did! Small, old, by the motel as stated! No complaints about anything. Six of us ordered different breakfasts. We all thought they were delicious. A cozy eatery tucked in the back of the tiny Palmer Motel. This place is always packed on the weekends, and the staff has a tough time with the pace. The food is plentiful and tasty. But I found the bottom of my coffee cup a couple times during the course of one meal - which is never a good thing while enjoying my breakfast! read more

A hidden breakfast gem!! This place is hidden in an old motel and it took me so long to find it, but I am glad I did! The omelets are so good and there are so many to choose from that I'll never be able to experience them all. The service is friendly and attentive. Your coffee and water will be full the entire meal and even if you stay to chat after you're finished they keep filling your cup; that is VERY rare at restaurants believe it or not. read more

Appearances can be deceiving. Palmers looks like a shady place, especially being next to a motel but it is anything but. The staff are incredibly friendly and sweet. Once you are inside, it feels like you're eating in your grandma's kitchen. The food is delicious and the portions are enormous. We had the breakfast burrito and the eggs benedict. Both were filling and made our tummies happy. read more

A friend picked this spot for us. Ended up with a 5 man band, myself and my wife. Between all of us we've seen the U.S. many times over with tons of breakfast diners. This place is at least on my top 5 both for food as well as service (while waiting for tables to be combined we say on the deck with heaters keeping us warm and free fresh coffee). Every person got something different and every one of us remarked at how good it was, with plates being passed around towards the end for us to try the others. No empty bellies left the place and everyone had a smile with hugs from the hostess on the way out. I rarely write a review this gushing. The atmosphere is just a typical country diner with nothing fancy. But it doesn't need to be fancy to be damned good. read more

We would give 7 stars if available. This small cafe tucked in corner of the Palmer Motel offers breakfast and lunch all day til two. Food was fantastic, incredibly fresh, and lots to choose from. Coffee is a continuous pour and you will not beat the flavor. Don't miss this gem read more

The place was amazing. Way better than I expected in every way. The food was excellent! Traditional yet original. The biscuits and gravy 5 star! Pancakes were awesome as well. You'd never expect it to be so good in its out of the way little location. The service was as good as the food! It's priced a little higher than average but the large portions make up for it. Outstanding food and service. The outside of the restaurant makes it appear rather modest and the interior decor is similar. But the menu is huge, the food came out quickly and everything was prepared perfectly. Attentive service was ideal. We will be back to Palmers! read more

We found this great little cafe tucked away next to a motel in Bend, Oregon. The corned beef hash is great, and so are the pancakes. Coffee was always bumped up, and we received 10% off our bill for being first-timers. The seating arrangement is cozy, like real pubs where you often find yourself sitting in close proximity to strangers, so if you're introverted, you may want to choose wisely regarding seating. Still, we loved it, the food was great, and so was the service. Our host and server were more than willing to share information with us about the town, along with ideas as far as what to do during our visit. We really hope to go to Palmer's again at least one more time before we leave. Great place! read more

What a pleasure hidden surprise! We found this on yelp. Had a moment of apprehension when it was connected to a motel, but were pleasantly surprised by the portions and the quality of the food. Our waitress, Gretchen, though, is the reason why I am writing this! She was fabulous! Not only extremely friendly, our coffee cups were never empty, our children (8 and 6) were well taken care of (she gave an insane amount of whipped crème in our sons hot chocolate...then brought a small plate of some for our daughter when she was admiring his drink. She also had a complete "to go" pack for us with utensils/napkins, etc! My son said that this was the BEST restaurant ever! I must agree, it was quite a find! Oh, and when she asked how we found the place and we said "yelp", we got 10% off our meal! read more

I loved Palmer's Cafe. The nice gentleman host/waiter was so freaking nice. We came on a Sunday morning, clearly VERY busy and packed, but this man kept us all warm with complimentary coffee and a huge smile. I also loved the food and the cool plates which it was served on. Its a small place, with a big heart. I will return for breakfast not only for the food but mostly because I enjoyed the host who was so gracious to us, and professional in a super busy atmosphere. read more

Friendly service, good prices, great food. Biscuits and gravy as good as Mom's (maybe better, sorry Mom). Short wait but coffee and heat provided. No worries. If our entire trip to Bend was a bust this would have been worth the 3 hr drive from Portland. read more

Established in 1962.

Voted Bend's best kept secret, Palmer's Cafe celebrates specialty handcrafted cocktails, flavorful lunches & breakfast featuring both traditional as well as unique dishes. Palmer's main dining area was constructed by Palmer Discus in 1922. Initially, the structure served as Palmer's home. In the 1950's, Palmer's started to evolve into a social gathering place where dances & potlucks were held Construction began on the adjoining motel and one room at a time, the motel grew. As was common for the era, some already built rooms were shipped in from other towns. Today Palmer's Cafe is still Bend's Best Kept Secret with intimate service, comfortable atmosphere and amazing cuisine! Salut!

Meet the Business Owner: David L.

I bought the Palmer's Cafe & Motel years ago to help people with serious health problems outside of Bend, Oregon, who needed treatment at the hospital but didn't have money to paid for lodging for their treatments. I have seen so many miracles at the Palmer's Motel and the Palmer's Cafe has helped us help other people. My last renters took all of my equipment and furniture, sold everything and left Bend, Oregon when the City found out they were remodeling it without Permits, so I am remodeling the cafe and it will be better than ever, including outdoor seating and prices for locals in Bend, Oregon. Looking forward to getting the locals back and having them realize that our new prices with be great for them getting amazing meal at great prices for them! Palmer's Cafe was always my favorite breakfast place in Bend, when I was young and going there with my sister, mom & dad, so I hope to get the same feelings for families coming the Palmer's Cafe! I hope we are running in May, 2019.

The sweetness of the fig jam played well with the poached pear, savory turkey and peppery arugula. Dessert will have to wait until our next visit. The pastry counter at the front of the restaurant displays cinnamon roles, scones, muffins and impressive cakes. There's even a marionberry and white chocolate bread pudding that would make a wonderful brunch choice.

You can also customize your meal as needed. To order, you stand in line like at a food court counter, but in a fancy way. While we were there, the line stretched to the door most of the time but it moves fast. This is the time you use to choose your bottle of wine, pick food, and browse the pastries on display. There were several places to sit indoors and out after placing the order. The kids hade the garlic bites (fried balls of bread with garlic and cheese...looked like doughnut holes!) and a pizza. They can add pepperoni to a cheese pizza for the particular children in your life. My husband and I shared a Cobb salad, no croutons to make it gf (the lemon dill dressing was AMAZING! Actually, this whole salad was very good). We also intended to share the NY strip with chimichurri. However, we didn't read that it comes with bread and a side salad (great!) and roasted vegetables in romesco sauce (also great!). My husband is allergic to nuts and so he couldn't eat any. That is not a complaint...all on us! The menu is clearly marked. But be aware if you have a nut allergy to specify that you can't have the romesco sauce. Or let the order taker know, as they are informed on modifications and whatnot. So he ate the salad and done pizza. I ate most of the steak and veggies. Everything tasted really good. The steak was a bit gristly. But the chimichurri was great. My absolute favorite thing was the elote cake with tajin buttercream. It was not a sweet cake. But it was heavenly. I should have grabbed another piece before we left. It was creative and salty and delicious and I still want it two days later. Service was great. Food is brought out as it's ready, not all at once. And the side salad and bread is brought before the main dish. The people were friendly and helpful. This was a great place and I would definitely go back.

I got the pozole roja (I think that's the menu name) and - yo, it was the best pozole I've had. The ingredients were plenty, the chicken was tender and flavorful, they put the radishes, cilantro and cabbage on the side for you to add so it's not soggy. Sourdough was so good to dip - mouth is watering writing this. Service th morning we were headed out at 7amish was great also - wife got coffee cake (warmed in their brick oven) and I got two citrus muffins and a sourdough cinnamon roll for later - all were scrumptious and delightful. I would got a half dozen muffins if I knew they were that good before. People were kind and the service is quick. We ate there these two time on $52 dollars - both to-go orders. We will absolutely be back - every time we are near bend, I'll be stopping for pozole for sure! Well done, Jacksons Corner, well done!

It was very tasty and the grits were prepared perfectly but I have to say their chiliquiles are so much better. I'm usually much more enthusiastic about my meals I've enjoyed here. There's even a marionberry and white chocolate bread pudding that would make a wonderful brunch choice.

sparrow bakery in bend is operating at a level that doesn't fully make sense…read more this is S tier. not "good bakery" not "great local spot." this is top of the system everyone talks about the ocean roll and yeah... correct. cardamom, sugar, whatever else is happening in there--it works. you take a bite and immediately understand why people bring it up like it's a shared reference point but the real thing is everything else all the small moves. the way the line flows. the timing. how orders land. how people are acknowledged without slowing anything down. it's a bunch of tiny decisions stacked perfectly and no one even notices because it feels natural morning crowd is serious. you'll see deals happening. laptops open but not in an annoying way. people choosing this place on purpose and it's busy. consistently. like if you're trying to figure out if something is good just look at the door situation. it tells you everything honestly the only concern is the pricing feels too reasonable for what they're doing. like i almost want to step in and say guys you might be underestimating yourselves but maybe that's part of it elite spot. bend is lucky this exists

I got a veggie bahn mi since I was going on a hike later I needed to grab n go. It had a very tasty sauce and was on a fresh baguette..but it could've been crispier. I also had a delicious chocolate cookie which happened to be vegan but I wouldn't have guessed it . It was deeelish! We ate outside on the small tables that line the sidewalk. Not much to write home about but was happy to score a table since this place has a constant stream of people.

Palmer's Cafe is VERY popular as a locals choice for delicious food! Small, Quaint & Homey. Always cheerful staff with great service. Best food & libations in town at really decent prices. Palmer's is a diamond in the rough. Travelers may look at this little place as old and in need of a facelift... but we love it just the way it is! =) Palmer's has been a landmark of Bend for generations! Most people don't know the amazingly heartwarming story behind the motel. I don't want to post the story because I'm afraid no words I can write would be good enough, but I encourage you to ask for and take the time to meet Dave and listen to his story. This place ROCKS!! Great service from the moment I walked up and was greeted by the fantastic host to Karen who made sure I had plenty of hot coffee! The food was great! I got the biscuits and gravy, to reminisce about my childhood and it did not disappoint!! The biscuit was as big as a doll's head and I couldn't eat it all! Perfection, fluffy, crunching exterior! Bliss! I also got a small portion of the kitchen sink minus the meat. It was wonderful. Yummy mushrooms, peppers and seasoned potatoes!! So, good with a little hot sauce! Yum Yum Yum. Incredibly good food & delightful service! Two of us had an omelet and a small stack of pancakes - split them both, and LOVED every bite of everything! The potatoes were especially good - prepared & seasoned perfectly. The pancakes were truly the best pancakes we've had in town. And the Biscuit that came with the omelet was light, fluffy truly a perfect homestyle side - delish! Both the owner and our server came by and chatted. Super friendly, down to earth. The Palmer's Café in Bend, Oregon is remodeling the whole restaurant and it is taking much longer than we thought but it is going to be much better including outdoor seating and everything in the café it all new. Should be running again Mid-March and it will be best breakfast in town and you will be happy with the prices, knowing you got a great meal with amazing prices for the locals!
