Went here for my birthday yesterday night.
Ambiance: beautiful decor, tastefully decorated, lovely finishes
Food: we got a crab sushi roll, the burrata salad, and my husband got the prime rib. The crab roll presentation was elegant, but the taste wasn't impressive at all; the crab was a bit rubbery and dry and the flavor was just wholly unremarkable. It was also cut into four huge pieces that were several bites each so it made it incredibly awkward to eat; it should have been cut into 8. The burrata salad was good but it was absolutely huge for fine dining and the ratio of burrata: salad components was off, and since the other ingredients were strong, it wasn't cohesive without each bite including burrata. My husband's prime rib was good & the maracuya cocktail was good.
Service: this is where they really missed the mark entirely. The doorman was friendly, but when we entered and I gave the man at the host stand the reservation name, he asked if we wanted to sit at the bar, in the lounge, or at a table, which seemed like an odd question considering that we reserved a table.
Our server, a blonde girl, either wasn't skilled at all in fine dining, or just didn't care. She was distant and barely pleasant. I initially didn't even know she was our server because she dropped a menu light off at the table without speaking to us before returning to take our order. She didn't ask what the occasion was even though I'd noted that it was my birthday when making the reservation. She asked if I wanted my salad or sushi to come out first and I said the salad, as I would never eat sushi before salad. The sushi came out first and when I politely informed her of this, she didn't apologize for her mistake and almost argued with me, saying she thought that I asked for the sushi first, and my husband also heard me request the salad first. She didn't follow up while we sat and waited for the salad and prime rib to arrive. She asked about dessert and we said no because at that point we just wanted to leave.
Overall, it was a very disappointing experience for my birthday and a place we won't visit again. We live in Southern California & have traveled the world and dined at some of the finest restaurants that truly embody creating a beautiful experience for the customer, and this will fade away as a mediocre experience.
Management: I highly recommend training your servers to understand the concept of fine dining and to treat each guest as a valued patron. read more
