I came in around 10:10 AM to cancel my membership after only using it a handful of times in the past several months. At check-in, I was immediately asked if I had a new card. I explained that I did, but I had still been charged the monthly fee. I requested to cancel my membership, and I was told I would need to pay the current month before being able to do so. I showed proof from my bank app that the payment had already been successfully processed and posted to my account. I was told it "only attempted to charge," even though the transaction clearly showed the funds leaving my account. After that, I was told there was nothing that could be done in-store and that I would need to contact corporate instead. The interaction felt dismissive, and since the location isn't open until Monday, I'm left unable to resolve it in person. Overall, the way that they treated me at the end is grounds for me to never go back there again. As soon as I mentioned, canceling the membership, their attitude changed drastically not even providing me a number for corporate . I wonder how many people have double paid on memberships just to cancel for this reason. This location has the most difficult, abusive, rude body language and attitude from the male manager that I have ever come across. I see I am not the only customer who has had this experience. I was asking questions of the lovely woman at the desk. This manager chimed into my discussion with such a abrasive, and rude response merely based on my inquiry about the tanning rules, which I have a right to ask and question. This situation escalated by him which caused more of a problem. He then refused to serve me which was so uncalled for . This white girl wanted a little glow on her skin this summer, so I signed up for a monthly membership at PBT. Not all locations are created equal. Out of the four locations I have been to this one is the nicest, and their level 2 tanning beds are by far the best. At the other locations their level 2 beds are not as big and do not have the same amount of fan power. One thing you need to know - the people that work for PBT, although are really nice; are salespeople. You will not find prices on anything. They got me through the door with an ad for $15 a month. When I went in I was upsold to another membership level where I could have the stand up beds too. Fast forward a few weeks later I was upsold to the level 2 beds (once I went to level 2, I knew I could never go back to level 1). They told me the upgrade would be free, but there ended up being a $15 fee for the upgrade so they got me there! Their lowest priced lotion was $99, but when I told the lady I didn't want to pay more than $40 she miraculously worked out a deal for me. I am a salesman's dream. If you have a good talk I can be suckered easily, but I feel okay about this place except for the suntan lotion and the upgrade fee. Anyway, be prepared for the low key up-sales and you will be probably enjoy this place as much as I do. Always clean, friendly staff, everything you need to get your tan on. read more

I've been tanning here for a few months. I work nearby and it's convenient. But it's never felt friendly, you know? So on Tuesday I upgraded to a better bed that has the water mist feature that I don't care for, mostly because it ruins my hair when I return to work after tanning at lunch. I know how to turn it off and did that when using the bed on Tuesday. Today, Thursday, I got to tan for less than two minutes because the aqua mist was stuck on and wouldn't turn off. That's irritating enough to waste a tan time. But what was truly upsetting was after dressing, coming out to the counter to tell the manager and ASM at the desk that there's something wrong with the bed, and the manager laughs at me. I've never seen a smile on his or anyone else's face at this location until today when he's laughing at me. He didn't even stop what he was doing at the desk ! So, I won't be coming to this location anymore. And I suggest no one else does either. @Hannah the new manager - I called at 6:54PM to confirm I could still tan if I arrived right at 7PM since that was closing time and Hannah answered and said yes I could tan as long as it was not AFTER 7PM. There was an accident on MacArthur and traffic was horrendous (I also forgot it was Sunday and they closed so early.) I have been a client for 8 years and I have never had such horrible customer service. I arrived and walked up to the front door precisely at 7PM. The door had been locked as soon as I parked and I am staring through the window and call the salon and Hannah is staring me in the face with the phone in her hand refusing to answer my call and refusing to open the door to allow me to tan. She yelled through the windows, "I have a family" implying if she let me tan she wouldn't make it home in time for her family. I saw two customers leave the salon about 14 minutes after 7PM. I only tan for 12 minutes. Had she been taught good customer service she would have let me tan and I wouldn't have cut anymore time from her night from her closing down duties. I understand rules are rules but customer service keeps a business going and after 8 years of being a client I would expect better service from Palm Beach Tan. HIGHLY UNSATISFIED with the way the manager, Hannah, handled the situation. Human to human she should have opened the door and expressed I apologize you arrived late and I wish I could help but unfortunately I have other responsibilities to attend to. I have been a monthly member of Palm Beach Tan for years. I have used several locations, I have never experienced what I did today. This morning the employee that checked me in could not focus on my name or my spray tan requested. At one point telling me I owed for the tan (that's included with my monthly package). She just kept saying she wasn't awake. When I was in the spray tan I realized way too late that she programmed the wrong setting. I was incredibly upset. I have a huge banquet this week to attend, and now I look like ridiculous. I told her I was upset. When I called and spoke to the manager, she told me the setting that the employee programed accidentally is the one she always uses for herself. As if that is suppose to make it ok. And suggested that I check the screen on the machine to make sure the setting is entered correctly next time. Wow, fantastic customer service! Beware. Don't sign !! It's like buying a gym membership. Have to sign a contract so they can auto-debit you whether you go in or not. Sales approach is to whiz through everything so it's easy to miss details, and there are many. For example, you have to cancel a specific way or they don't allow it! Personnel were all very nice but -as a consumer- it felt like unfair and misleading business practice. We'll all went thru before I could update except palm beach. I was treated like a Schmock in there!!! I even showed her my transactions from every other auto draft and explained I honestly did not know it didn't go thru and since this month is tuff (just literally lost my job two days prior) can I put on hold please without paying the full amount. No idea why this place has bad reviews! I have had great experiences every time I have gone. In fact I think this location and staff is much better then other locations. They are one of two locations that has my favorite bed ever, the Sun Angel. It literally assesses your skin and the bed gives you a custom tan. 10 minutes of base tan and 10 minutes of golden tan. I have interacted with several of the staff and they are all super sweet. One time I forgot my lotion and rather then making me buy a sample they let me use a tester bottle. I really appreciate that and never had another location offer that. Last time I went in I tanned and then spray tanned. They were out of my spray tan color so they mixed me one up with different "extras" and didn't charge me for it. This location is always clean and there is plenty of places to sit if you need to wait for a bed. read more

I had been a customer of Palm Beach for years. I went back in to turn my membership on. McKay said I owed them for 3 months of tanning even though I didn't use their beds once in the three months. I said I would not pay the $130 fee to start up my account since I never tanned in those 3 months. I wanted to sign up for a higher end package and was buy lotion but I was treated horribly. McKay was very rude and obviously could care less about customer service. I left angry but had no intention of posting a review. We then drove to Plant Tan down the street. When I got there I saw a sticky note with my name on it. McKay had called this location telling them to not sign me up. I've never felt so disrespected by any business before. I will not only never return to Palm Beach Tan but I am reporting it to the better business bureau. Scam artist and horrible customer service, I can't believe Palm Beach would have someone like McKay employed. Palm Beach Tan you should be embarrassed. Planet Tan (the same company) had no issue with signing me up and was shocked on how McKay handled things. They obviously understand how to run a business and make money. read more

I am new to the area and I only use this location because it's close to me. And even with that being said, I'm considering looking elsewhere. 9 times out of 10 there is a line for the Versa...and if I'm lucky and there isn't a wait- they always have to "go clean it" before I go back. It's like they wait until they are forced to clean. Tonight was really the last straw for me. I arrived at 7:50 and had two ladies in front of me. I didn't get back to the Versa booth until 8:30. It was ridiculous and I would have left if I didn't have a special event to attend tomorrow night. When I left, there were three other ladies waiting for the Versa booth. I'm sorry, but with as much as they charge- they can easily afford at least 2, of not 3 booths. Having only ONE Versa booth is unacceptable. Take out some of those tanning beds that no one uses anymore and add more Versa booths, please! read more

I signed up for a specific package (the one that costed the least) at 15 dollars a month, because I don't tan all that much, and anything else would be a waste. I should have saved the paperwork I signed up with, (so dumb of me) because I notice my credit card being charged for 15 as agreed upon the first month and then 30.00 the following month. So, I go in and ask why I am being charged 30.00 instead of the 15 per month like I signed up for. The girl just looked at me as if I were just some crazy bitch and said (with attitude) "No, you signed up for the "so and so" 30 something dollar per month package. I said " No I didn't, but I don't have time to argue with you, please cancel my account effectively immediately because, I won't be coming back." Fine good done. So it's June now, and I am being charged approximately $9.00 on my debt card by Palm Beach for who knows what! The girls who work there are extremely incompetent. Besides that, half the beds don't work properly, and you can see detritus under the plastic where the bulbs are. Like hairs and nail clippings. Disgusting. You'll have to wait in line to use the beds and I'm not confident that they really even sanitize them. I'm going to get at least my $9.00 back, or I am going tear Palm Beach corporate a new one. But these scammers should give me all money back for the bull shit I've put up with! read more

Really wish I would have read the reviews on here before going to this place. I moved to the area and this is the closest tanning salon to me. I signed up for the membership but will be cancelling it by the end of the month, just trying to get my moneys worth. Every time I go in there (which is usually at night) I'm never greeted by anyone and they glare at me like I'm bothering them? Ever since I told this girl I didn't need a lotion she gives me attitude every time I'm in there. She also likes to argue with me on what time I want to tan for. She says 20 min, I say 10, she says 15. Why is she trying to make me tan for longer than I want? I'm very fair and like to take it easy but she will not stop. Is she really that poorly trained that she doesn't know how to recommend how long a person should tan? I hope she doesn't tell someone with skin like mine who doesn't know anything to tan longer than they should. Just unbelievable that she keeps doing this. AWFUL EXPERIENCE. Not only was I sold a product that burned my skin and left me with a rash for several days, but I also was told after trying to return it that it was 66% full (75% being the returnable amount) when I was given the product that she tested on me in the first place, and I had only used twice. Doing the math, each use would have to be 22% meaning I could only use this $40 product 4.5 times before it was empty... I have spoke to the manager, and the managers manager, and the district manager, and was advised that after 2 months of the run around, that I could not get a refund, that I could trade it for another one of these products that are sold half empty and irritate my skin. Oh BTW THEY KEPT THE PRODUCT. SO, not only did they "steal" my lotion, my account has not been credited. I agree, I should have read the reviews first. Obviously unfair. This place has horrible customer service and their manager is probably the worst I've seen in a long time. They ripped me off a few months ago when I had asked to unfreeze my account and they didn't which was not my fault and so they charged me full price for my tans which is the cost of my membership for the entire month. When they finally unfroze my account I still had to pay and I asked them to correct my account since I had been double charged and the manager said she couldn't. Lol I used to work at PBT and I know for a fact she could do something. Then when she said she would call her supervisor and call me back, that never happened. So finally I asked for the number of her supervisor and I called myself and left messages---never heard back. Go figure. WORST customer service. If a company makes a mistake, they should definitely do what it takes to correct it. If they were a little nicer to me about it and somewhat understanding to the situation I may not have felt the need to write his review but I am big on customer service and this stood out to me. Most of the girls are fairly nice but the manager should be a leader and she was by far the worst & totally gave me attitude when I was trying to explain my issue. I was pissed. She was so rude. This place is a joke! I bought a membership because they was the closest tan facility by me. I have had issues since day one. Unfriendly staff,dirty beds,and a pure intention to sell sell sell and not hold up to their end of the bargain. I have upgraded twice to higher level beds for a month, BIG MISTAKE. They only have 2 of each bed in the higher levels and they are always "taken" so essentially you are charged 20$ more a month to still use the same lower crappy beds you was using before.
