I switched last winter from an awful competitor in Clarksville MD (won't name names but you can probably figure it out) to Palm Beach and I'm happy I did. The prices are decent and I've never had to wait when I've gone in. Usually I go at off times but even on the weekends there aren't too many guests and the beds are usually ready. I recently found out they have free water if you'd like, which is great because the store is hot as heck, and then to jump in a tanning bed in that environment just makes you thirsty. I wish they had the teeth whitening product in because I have credit on my account that's about to expire and it's the only thing I want to use it on (it's been sold out a while too). read more

I came in there a few weeks ago to tan and Tara was amazing! I didn't even plan on buying a bottle of lotion and ended doing so! Tara was so nice, I asked her if she had any tingle lotion packets and she actually let me use her own personal bottle which I thought was the nicest thing ever! I ended up buying a bottle even though I didn't have much money, I wanted her to get the commission. I highly recommend this place and I wish I lived closer to the Columbia location. This is the second review, I've had to leave about this place. The staff are clueless and horrible. The girl moving others aside to help the people behind them, because she is freaking clueless. Training needs to be done for those working at Columbia. So now I have to drive to another location, and honestly might cancel again, this is total bs. Deserve less than one star. read more

attempted to cancel membership twice. they continue to attempt to charge my credit card. i called and they won't tell me what time i can speak to the manager. they claim "they can't release her schedule". i didn't ask for her schedule i asked when she would be in so i can come in and find out why she refuses to cancel me even though they had me sign a paper saying i was closing my account. DISHONEST BILLING PRACTICES. i'm very disappointed after being a previously happy customer for a year i have had to change my review to 1 star because they are scamming people and intentionally make it impossible to cancel. i will be notifying the better business bureau, my bank, and the federal trade commission. read more

This is one of Palm Beach Tans bigger stores. They offer a wide selection of beds from level 1 ($10 session base building beds) to level 4 ($40 session bronzing beds). The level 4 (diamond) bed in room 10 is by far the nicest in the store it has facial bulbs, shoulder bulbs, fans, AC, aroma, body mist and personalized music. What I love about this bed is you can build a base in it using the "basic" setting, get your ultimate bronze in the "caribbean" or there's a setting where you can do 50/50 base building and bronzing so you never hit a plateau, and it only takes 10 minutes! The level 3 (platinum) bed in room 1 is my second favorite, it's called to iBed and plays really loud music with a great bass (feel free to crank it up!) after the bed turns off there's a feature where the facial bulbs continue to bronze you for 4 more minutes to give your face its ultimate color possible. Aside from the 15 tanning beds (and yes they do have stand up beds) this PBT has to offer they also offer 2 spray tan booths. The VersaSpa which has more of a pink undertone and the Mystic which has more of a California bronze color, the Mystic is really nice because you can add a bronzer from a good selection of golden to dark bronze tones, you can also add a scent (they have scents for both guys and girls) and accelerators if you want your spray tan to process faster. I came in here the winter I turned 18 just for some light and heat therapy during the depressing cold season and found so much more. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable of the tanning beds, tanning procedures, spray booths and lotions. The place is kept impeccably clean, and they give you towels and eye protection so all you need to bring is your lotion. Another great thing about this store is they offer a wide variety of lotions from basic lotion to lotions with super quality skincare like Cypher and CTID. They also have tingle lotions, lotions with TanFresh, bronzers and intensifiers. Aside from tanning bed lotions they have spray tan primers, tan extenders, body wash, shaving cream and exfoliate which are all tan and spray friendly. They also have tons of self tanning sprays and lotions inspired by MysticTan and VersaSpa. Along with candles and Twilight Teeth teeth whitener (which is the best I've ever used). If you're looking for a nice tanning salon PBT is definitely the place to go, getting a membership is the best option and you get tons of perks that come along with it, all with no contracts and no appointments required. read more

I've been coming here for a while with a premium spray tan membership and I really enjoy it. It is always clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely like to highlight one member of the staff, Brendan. He is an absolute rock star and the BEST at his job. I have been in sales and marketing for years and rarely does someone's expertise and demeanor WOW me enough to formally comment on it, but Brendan is sensational. His attitude is impeccably friendly and accommodating and his wealth of knowledge on the products offered is quite impressive. Take his recommendations, folks; he won't steer you wrong! I came here for the first time on a busy Wednesday night. Gina at the front desk was very patient in explaining all of the plan options and mechanics of the different beds to me. Staff is super nice and friendly all the time! They are so professional and they keep the place so clean and classy! I am in love with their mystic tan which I am a big fan of. They have a 2 spray booth rather than 4 like more places. It's so efficient and time saving! I love this place Emily Tara and Kaylee are the best I recommend very highly I was there a few days ago when Emily was trying to upgrade my package when this very rude woman come from the back complaining about this and that and so on but Emily was very professional she said she would be right with her when she got done with me but she wasn't going to let that happen she kept interrupting wanting a refund and Emily professionally told her she could not do that she would have to call her manager and this woman in her 40s or 50s I would say is still ranting like a 12-year-old my opinion grow up woman if I could I'd rate this palm beach a 10 read more

I love this location! I'm a regular at the Towson/Baltimore location on York rd but this is the best one. There was only one woman working named Amanda. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! This was my first time coming to a tanning salon after about 10 years.. I am fair haired with problematic skin and was a bit hesitant to try tanning again. So, I called a few other places but their hours were not good with my work schedule and the staff wasn't all too friendly to be honest. ON THE FLIP SIDE, I just have to say how incredible AND enlightening my experience was today with Palm Beach Tan at 6476 Dobbin!! I called and spoke to a young lady named KC and she provided me with such valuable information that no other tanning professional had ever offered before! She even helped me with directions on finding them! I was not only impressed but extremely grateful for the knowledge I learned from her! She was super friendly, patient, professional and actually took the time to help me with a tanning plan that will best suit my specific skin care needs! I didn't get to catch the other gentleman's name working, as he was helping other customers, but he was super friendly too! Everyone that came in was happy and said they loved this salon in particular! Palm Beach salon has such great hours all week and even on weekends! Plus, they are extremely cleanly and sanitization is a top priority I could tell right away! Not just from conversations with other members, but also from watching how they operate! I am giving this location such a high review based on my experience at another company while on vacation. I will never take for granted my membership. Attention is in the details. Prices are high everywhere sadly tanning shouldn't be so much. At least here when you get a spray tan your provided with wipes a towel for your feet among other things. The employees were a little distracted, but nice enough. However, the prices are OUTRAGEOUS! I just wanted to use a level 4 bed (drop in) and the woman told me it would cost $40. FORTY, as in Four-Zero. I am not a cheap person and have no problem paying for quality, but for $40 the level 4 bed better put me on the sun. read more

Kayla, the manager here yesterday helped me out and was incredible. I had a reaction to something and she did everything she could to help me. She successfully calmed me down and explained while grabbing me some aloe. She handled the situation PERFECTLY. She even called me today to check fo see if I was still doing ok. That is professional customer service I wish I received everywhere. She's one of the main reasons why going to palm beach is a pleasant experience for me. Well I have never been more disappointment with an establishment as I am with Palm Beach Tan in Columbia. Wednesday at 6 in the evening you have ONE PERSON working the entire salon????? 1. The line was out the door 2. Obviously since one person was working no beds available because no one one could clean them. 3. You had at least 7 people walk away including me because the wait was projected to be over 25min. I pay $70.00 a month; I expect to walk into Palm Beach Tan to a staff of employees keeping the place running. This makes me wonder why I am paying an arm and a leg for horrible/nonexistent service. read more

I absolutely love the beds! They are giving me a great base tan and bronzing! When I went to sign up the staff were extremely personable and entertaining! Catherine and Brenden work great togetger as a team and were EXTREMELY knowledgeable on the beds and products they have in stock! KUDOS TO THEM! The only flaw I had here was they dont providing tanning stickers and the lotions are a pricey but the atmosphere and amount of beds are amazing and I would definitely recommend to others!!!!! read more

Worst customer service. The only reason im giving this place a star because the bed is good but the employee sucks. No greetings when I get there except,"whats your last name". Throw prices at me. The online price and the in-store was totally off. I asked her about the promotion they have but the lady up front said its only for a certain bed and they don't carry them? Whatever. Usually when someone is new at a place they provide some kind of tour of the place like "look at our awesome place to join" but no. Or try our new member promotion. Still no. Anyways since it was convenient (close to work) I just wanted to try it out but after paying $33 for one session ($50 for members unlimited a month) for 5 mins??? Seriously? Its not like its my first time tanning. The lady recommended to tan for 5 mins which was fine but when I came out I asked if I could just become a member since I liked the bed and just pay the difference. The lady had no business mind at all. All she says was "no". Thats it. Worst customer service EVER. Pretty obvious she doesn't want to work there. Overall, they just lost a customer in this area and few of my friends. Palm Beach tan in New York customer service is sooo much better. Palm Beach tan here need to teach some customer service. read more

I just go for spray tans. The previous owner would post health warnings--yes, for spray tans, too--and didn't even keep the basics stocked for our use. These folk at Palm Beach Tan actually provide the things one would use to address the possible health risks. As always, hard-working young women who have to do a kinda disgusting job. Just stopped by this afternoon to start tanning for my end of august wedding. I hadn't gone tanning since 2007 for prom. Gina was super helpful and nice!! In fact both employees I talked with were great!! I would recommend this place to anyone! Sure was more expensive than I thought but I decided to go for the diamond membership so that I could tan in any bed and also get spray tans. I got my first spray tan today and the fragrance was quite nice :) overall, great experience! read more

I went in for an emergency session for a special event with a very good base tan I got at the beach. I took the recommendation of the sales people on which bed to use and which lotion. When I was finished, there was absolutely zero difference! I've been to a lot of tanning places in my life, but I have never come out feeling and looking exactly the same as when I went in. It was a complete waste of $50 (which I thought was supposed to be $30). When I told them that their recommendations had not worked AT ALL, they didn't offer a refund or an extra session or even a few more minutes in the bed (I said I wanted the full time, but they did 2-4 minutes less). Their only suggestion was to buy more sessions - but my event is in two days and I already wasted $50 on nothing. Not happy at all, and now I'll look like crap for my event. read more

Have been coming here periodically for at least a year now. Really like the Versa spa, as I find it to be better quality and longer lasting than Mystic. I've always found the staff helpful and friendly and I've never had to wait long. I think the Versa is a bit expensive but I think that's probably true anywhere you go and it's tolerable because Palm Beach offers deals frequently. I finally caved and decided to get a monthly membership, at least for the duration of summer when I do most of my tanning. The employee told me all of the details and when I was told the fee for one tan a month, I agreed to it and handed over my credit card. It wasn't until then that I was told there was a $20 sign up fee, but that it would be waived if I bought a lotion. I figured a lotion couldn't cost much more than that anyway, so took that route and asked the girl to suggest a product. She strongly recommended a lotion that also came with a spray tan bottle. I agreed, foolishly never asking the price. The first monthly fee was something like $30 and the sign up fee was waived, so that's roughly what I expected to pay. When she handed me my receipt, it said $109!!! That is some DARN EXPENSIVE lotion! I immediately said no thank you and that I wanted to pay the $20 sign up fee instead. I was informed that returns are impossible without contacting corporate. I hadn't even left the counter or touched the lotion. I was so angry. To add insult to injury, when I sat down to wait, I got an email offering a $15 spray tan that day. That was in May. I didn't get a tan in June, but still paid the monthly membership fee. Life just got in the way. Then went back first week of July and noticed there was another $15 spray tan special. So, have paid essentially $109 + $30 + $30 = $169 for two spray tans I could have had for $30. Sooooo frustrating. Granted, I do have some lotion that I didn't really want and won't likely ever use. Will be looking for another tanning salon. read more

First, I have to admit tanning is my love, my vice, my therapy, my relaxation, the list goes on and on...so I'm well versed on my tanning expectations. The beds at PBT-Columbia are superior requiring less exposure for maximum bronzeness (that's not a word). They also change their bulbs much sooner than my experiences working in tanning salons for about 7 years. The products they carry offer something for everyone. I'm a product snob and really think paying more for the skin care is worth it for me, but they also have some good quality lotions at affordable prices! My motto is "I'd rather not tan than tan without a lotion" ....it really makes a big difference!! Then finally the staff!!! Everyone is nice! But then Catherine & Brenden are awesome!! If I were corporate I would put them on the front lines of the company! Their friendliness & competence keeps me coming back to this particular store and recommending to friends! read more

Kayla the manager is hands down the best individual ever, she is so kind and her customer service is amazing . The place is always very clean and I have never had to wait for a bed. I don't know why people have given this place bad reviews. The service is AMAZING here, if I ever had a slight problem the problem has been fixed and given some free samples. Brendan was Super fast! My friend and I were in and out of the Versa in 20 minutes! He was very friendly and made sure to ask if we needed any product with the sale going on this week, although we were both stocked up. Great experience and we will be back to this location.
