10/19/2025. Visited this East Indian restaurant solo. The menu covers the typical range of masalas and curries, but the vegetarian and vegan selection is notably large, taking up an entire page. Spice levels were clearly labeled, which is helpful for ordering. I started with the Gobi, a fried cauliflower appetizer in a tangy, spiced sauce. It was light and fluffy, serving as a good, non-meat starter. The heat was mild and didn't linger. The dish included onions, bay leaves, cilantro garnish, and small components that appeared to be jalapeño skins. For the main course, I had the Mixed Vegetable Chettinaad, which was delicious. It's a peppercorn and coconut curry with a solid mix of vegetables, including carrots, peas, potatoes, and both green and red peppers. I would 100% eat that main dish again. The garlic naan I ordered wasn't crunchy, but the flavor was excellent, making it better than other naan I've had. Service from the server, Sai, was good; he was friendly and willing to talk about the menu. The ambiance featured background jazz music, which was pleasant, although I think some mellow Indian instrumental music would better suit the overall theme. It looks like they handle a high volume of takeout orders. I'd definitely return here. read more

Great family owned restaurant with friendly and attentive service. Good amount of seating options and large tables in the back for bigger groups. Casual atmosphere. We tried several of their menu items: Gobi, veg samosa, garlic naan, lamb vindaloo, chicken butter curry, veg curry, and goat biriyani. It was all delicious, flavorful, and fresh. We had the lunch buffet and ordered some items from the menu. Every single item tasted fresh with well balanced spices. The chicken and paneer were soft. Coconut rice was flavorful. Dosa's were crispy with tasty sambar and chutneys. My kids loved the paneer tikka pizza. Place is clean and has ample parking. The standout dish was the chicken lollipops with chef's special sauce. The sauce was so good, i could buy a whole jar of it. I have been to a ton of Indian restaurants, palette has to be my new favorite spot in Houston. I will definitely be visiting again. Why 5 stars? Because they did a really nice thing. --- --- --- I played basketball, then went to Splashtown for 2 hours. It was 2:06pm and I had not consumed a single calorie. But I'd burned 1,000. To define my state as starving would be an understatement. My stomach was consuming itself. We took a little halftime break from Splashtown and opted to eat here instead of buying sub-standard concession stand food. We drove here, walked in, and the woman said that because they close at 2:30, they only to take-out after 2pm. We offered to just eat at the outside table, but while we were looking at the menu, the woman said that she would make an exception for us and let us eat inside. We promised to eat quick, and made good on that, as we were out the door by 2:28. But it was very nice of the woman to let us eat inside, because it was another day of August death weather outside. We ordered chicken tikka masala and butter chicken. The butter chicken was great, but the tikka masala's chicken was pretty tough. We also ordered garlic naan and roti. The garlic naan was a huge hit, while the roti was fairly plain. So the food had a couple of 5-star items and a couple of 3-star items, but I'm rounding up to 5-stars overall because the service was above and beyond. read more

This was my first ever Indian food experience, I am so glad I went to Palette because I had no clue on what the menu was going to have and if I would find anything I would like. However my waiter was so helpful and knowledgeable and made my first experience a great one. She helped me order and I loved everything I got. The mango lassi is my favorite drink now and love the goat chops and chicken I had was absolutely amazing too. Definitely worth every penny. read more

We went to Palette Indian Kitchen for lunch during the week and the first thing that we noticed after entering was all of the delightful aromas that filled the restaurant. We knew immediately that we were in for a treat. Since it was our first time, we opted for the buffet so that we could try a variety of their dishes. Of the many things we tried, all were very flavorful and delicious. It is not unusual for a restaurant buffet to focus more on quantity than quality, but this was not the case at Palette. The plentiful buffet items were of a quality that one would expect if ordering off of the menu. We finished lunch with what I was told was their "famous" bread pudding-fame which we discovered was well deserved. Service and friendliness of the owners and staff were of the same high quality as the food. Prices were very reasonable and well worth the quality and tastiness of the food. Although a bit off of the beaten track from our home in The Woodlands, it was well worth the journey and we look forward to returning soon. read more

It's not every time that I find an Indian restaurant that serves dosas. The diversity of dishes this location offers far exceeds other Indian eateries I've tried, who seem to think that all Indian food is just "curry". Went for the first time tonight on my way to an event with my family. I found it on Yelp, and it was rated high enough I had to find out what the noise was about - and, oh boy, i quickly figured out the fuss! TLDR: amazing, delicious, excellent service, great value, and authentic. I ordered the coconut chicken curry and a chicken korma for the adults. We started with the Gobi Manchurian. My son had the plate of wings. I've never seen him so excited about next flavors before. This is easily one of the of the best meals I've had in the last few months. The restaurant was far too warm for the visit to be enjoyable. My ice water never kept "ice" and sweat beads were plentiful and not from the foods heat. On entrance your told to grab your own menus and seat yourself. I find the grab your own menus an odd gesture as once we ordered it took a while for them to be taken, maybe I was supposed to return them too. This was my second/third visit to this establishment and first 2 visits back in 2019/2020 were phenomenal; but sadly this visit will have me seeking other options. The price points are no longer on par with what they deliver. I have always ordered the goan shrimp curry and it had always come presented as pictured in menu. This round it was less than a cup of jasmine rice plated alongside a thick soup cup of the curry. Priced at 18.99 it does not come with naan that's another 2.99 for 4 pieces. Kids meal options are lacking so I'd not recommend them if your kids aren't up for trying new foods. Though they do have the never fails chicken nuggets and fries as only go to option. Other two are buttered chicken with rice and buttered noodles. My son had the buttered chicken and he stated it tasted solely like tomato soup, which I can vouch it was very tomato heavy. My daughter unfortunately wouldn't eat the chicken nuggets as they were over cooked and dark meat. Batted zero with my kids. Maybe this was just a fluke visit, but sadly I don't foresee myself coming back. read more

Not only was the food bursting with layers of flavor, but the service was top notch. Our waiter Felix, was super friendly, and other staff members came by to make sure we were doing great and answered all our questions. Everyone made us feel so welcomed. The food was served completely cold, and the setup looked like self‑service -- plates were stacked on the table as if customers were expected to help themselves. The taste was very disappointing and nowhere close to authentic Indian food. To make things worse, the main dishes were brought out after the naan, and everything was cold by the time it arrived. Great food and ambiance!! The staff is always so lovely and the manager always comes out to speak to the guests! That make everyone feel as if they were at home and apart of the family. I adore their garlic naan! It's just crispy and chewy enough and every bite is filled with buttery garlic! It's like a bite of heaven!! I like to order their vegetable karma with added spice! Full of vegetables, full of flavor and the their Indian spice adds a slow heat to this dish! Their vegetable samosas are a must!! They come with two sauces, a spicy and a sweet sauce. Try them both!! This was just a random pick when trying to find a place with a large group, most of which who were inexperienced with Indian food. We called ahead as we had 14, and they had no problem accommodating our group even with short notice. This did not disappoint. The staff (and I believe the owner) were incredible, explaining the cuisine and flavors. Food came out quickly, and was excellent. We were celebrating my nephews high school graduation, and the owner also seemed genuinely congratulatory and excited for him and us. I will absolutely be back every time I'm in town. My wife loves Indian cuisine. Me, not so much. We actually stopped in after a workout and found out that it's a buffet. Normally, buffets tend to have a little lower quality of food. That is certainly NOT the case here. The buffet allowed us to try a little bit of everything. I can tell you this, there was not one thing on the buffet that was lacking for flavor. An updated review on Palette has been long overdue. I've been to Palette on occasion since my last review for pickup, and everything has been outstanding. Butter Chicken ($13.99) Still amazing and our favorite dish here. Chicken is super soft, sauce is very flavorful, and the quantity plentiful. 5/5 Paneer Tikka Masala ($12.99) I think before when we got the chicken tikka masala, it was from a combo meal back when they had the front burners on. When we ventured to try the tikka masala sauce again, it was awesome. Similar to butter chicken but with more vegetables and subtle differences in flavor. Paneer was good as well. This is going on our staple list. 5/5 Andhra Chicken Curry/Hyderabadi Dum Ka Chicken ($9.99) Unfortunately, my taste buds are not as well trained to remember which one was which. Luckily, they were both good. One was a little spicier, and that one was the slightly better of the two. Chicken here comes on a bone so beware the bone fragments, but that is a small price to pay for these dishes. Like the butter chicken, the meat is super soft. The sauces are a stronger flavor and offer additional flavors to try. The spicier one is 5/5, the lesser spicy one is 4.5/5. Chicken Popsicles ($11.99) This dish comes with three drumsticks with a tangy sauce similar to the korma sauce. It was interesting, and no regrets in getting this. However, I just like the other stuff better. (4/5) Yellow Tadka Daal ($12.99) A lentil dish with tons of spices and flavors. Gives a good balance to the creamier, heavier dishes we get. (5/5) Garlic Naan ($3.29) Naan comes with 4 quarters per order and plenty of garlic. The bottom is charred and the rest of the bread is fluffy. Great flavor, love getting this to eat with the rest of the food. The only unfortunate thing is the garlic naan's temperature is hit or miss. Not sure if it is because the naan was made in advance or if it just cools off faster than the rest of the food, but the naan is half the time, hot, and the other half, room temperature and not as fluffy. Nothing a few seconds in the microwave won't fix though so no biggie there. (3.5/5) Overall, excellent meals. People of course have different taste buds than mine and the reviews are just my own personal opinion. However, I would bring any friends and family who visit me in the future outside of COVID here with me. Prices are very fair, the flavors are good, and the menu is diverse. Highly recommended Indian restaurant. Every food we ordered tasted so good. They made the food from scratch and have wine selections. My favorite dishes here are Chicken 555 and Chicken Tikka Masala. When I called to address the issue, a kind young man attempted to connect me with the manager, but he failed to convey the urgency of the situation and did not take the initiative to speak with me directly. The food is good. We stop in whenever we go to visit our daughter in the Austin area. We pass by about once a month or so. This last time, we had the same server and he seems disinterested in anything but quickly taking our order and quickly pushing the machine in my face to give a tip. Don't waste his time asking questions about the menu or the food. He told us wrong information about the rice so he could move on. We ended up with loads of rice. I guess the new policy is to give a lot of rice so people think they're getting a lot of food. I can't eat much starchy food...due to an illness. When we eat here, we typically spend about $200.00 because we order food to take home. When we opened the to go containers, one was about half full and again they gave too much white rice with the chicken tikka masala...not enough of the food we come here to buy. What is the point of having a bubbled container top when they barely fill the container halfway? See picture. We have been coming here for well over 7 years but if they're not going to give us friendly service and hide the half-full to go (in a bag), then we will need to check the contents before we leave (we now lack trust) or we might have to hunt for another place to enjoy dinner. I hope the only server, on the evening of Monday February 3th, gets the message that he might want to pretend to care about his customers and try to communicate honestly...even if he is busy. We should have given him less tip. We tip well and he got a lot considering we tipped on the to go order too. Next time he might want to be more pleasant. read more

This restaurant has a strange set up where when you enter, pick up a menu at a little table inside the door, find a seat and they bring you water and cutlery. THEN you walk up to the front counter and order...but then you don't pay until they check on you at the end of the meal, or if you go back up to the counter. I'm guessing it's due to the limited staff, but we're never waiting after sitting down and they're attentive to drink refills, etc. Strange as it is, the food and service is fabulous. My husband orders Butter Chicken every time we visit. Creamy sauce, not too heavy on the spices. The chicken is tender and plentiful. White rice is cooked perfectly. The lunch portion of the Butter Chicken includes naan and a side as well. We get vegetable korma each time as a side and it is sinfully delicious. I make way too loud yummy noises when I eat it. I order the lunch portion of Tamarind Chicken with the side of vegetable korma (mmmmmmmmmm) and then we usually purchase another side of the korma to eat at home. The Tamarind Chicken was wonderful too, it's served with lemon rice, if I remember correctly Next time I'm just going to order the Vegetable Korma plate, with a side of Vegetable Korma. The wait staff is friendly and the the owner has come out on occasion to check on us and say hello. Whenever we're in Spring, this is always a stop. Check it out! read more
