First, I have to say that the staff at Kurrywalah were so incredibly nice! It's so exciting to find an Indian place in this NW side of town. We had a selection of the probably what is the typical American order (lol) -- butter chicken, saag paneer, fish curry, garlic rosemary naan (the dishes come with rice). All I needed was some mango lassi to make it complete. :-) We ordered our entrees with a spice level of medium, which thankfully came out to be a good western-level of medium spice. It was a spicy that you could definitely taste and feel; but it wasn't painfully spicy. Each of the entrees were deliciously creamy, packed with flavor. The garlic rosemary naan had a small hint of rosemary (I wish there was more) but it was a good change from our usual garlic naan. Each entree comes with rice and they will bring you more if you need more. I'm only disappointed that we couldn't stop eating all our food and got so full that we had no space to try their kheer for dessert (i loooooove kheer). Next time, I'm making sure to leave room for dessert. read more

Latest adventure- we tried the pani poori appetizer. Pretty good if you like chick peas and potatoes. Apparently this is a very traditional street food/treat in India and it was cool to try it. You put filling into the pastry and pour spiced water over it. When you bite into it, the water gives it a burst of flavor. Neat concept, I just didn't couldn't get past that it was cold. Probably won't order again but it was fun to try. The rest of dinner was the food we have come to love! Butter chicken, lamb kadai, curry chicken and - one of my new faves - biryani. We got this meal as a carry out order. To eat I got the Lamb Saag wala along with the ras malai and the garlic naan. My husband ordered the chicken vindaloo. Everything was delicious. Normally I would have stuck to something I was more familiar with but the spinach in the photo of the Lamb Saag wala intrigued me. Im glad to say it definitely didn't disappoint. The portions were great and each order came with a side of white rice. The ras malai was also a wildcard order that didn't disappoint. So we were greeted nicely and went directly to menu ordering as we're not big on buffets in any restaurant. First question, "Do you have Mango Lassi to drink?" Yes! We always order that in all Indian restaurants to offset any dish that might be spicier than comfortable. That's Mr. Picky actually as I like a little heat. We asked if they made Naan that was stuffed with both garlic and cheese. This favorite of mine wasn't on the menu but I was told the chef would definitely make that for us. For our lunch we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala for Mr. Picky and the lamb version for me. The restaurant is sort of cute with a modern hand of black, gray and silver, interesting-looking. Food was very bland, watery, with absolutely no taste, spice or flavor, very disappointed in tonight's food! Once on the plate it's like it was something that was previously frozen then microwaved, sauce separated and became just a watery mess, it was quite awful! Called and talked to someone, they really didn't care. Told me to call back on Wednesday ‍. Food definitely not up to its usual standard, not too sure why. I was really craving Indian food after my massage and I've had this place bookmarked for a while. I figured no time like the present to try something new so in I went. The restaurant is small but bright, plenty of booths and tables to pick from. I was greeted with big smiles from teen age waitstaff and they quickly told me I could sit wherever I'd like. I'm alone, I've had a really rough day, and it's after 7p and this is my first meal of the day. I'm greeted by whom I believe is the owner and he asks if I'm ready to order. I want one of everything and I'm not sure what to pick, so he suggested the sampler platter for 2. There are two available samplers, one vegetarian and one with meat options. I chose the meat although I'm sure the vegan option is just as delicious! I don't remember the name of all of the dishes, I do know everything was delicious though!! Some dishes spicier than others, and they ask what heat level you want when you're ordering. I got the medium heat and it was just right: definitely woke you up but not so hot you couldn't taste the flavor. My eyes were larger than my stomach so I packed the rest to go, and let me tell you it was just as tasty the next day when I ate the leftovers for breakfast! When the check was dropped off I told the owner I was really happy I chose to have dinner for my birthday here. He was so surprised (probably because I was alone and looked a wreck lol) and told me to stay put, that he had something for me. He came back with not only a fruit smoothie, but a kind note that said "Happy Birthday, wishing you many more!!" and a meal on the house. Little did this man know I was having the day from hell and his kind gesture left me speechless. I tipped the kids all the cash I had on me and was ugly crying once I got in the car. You never know what your kindness can do for someone else! So sir, if you read this, thank you for making a girls birthday meal the highlight of her day!! As of August 2022, the price for weekday buffet lunch is $15.99. The interior had just been renovated earlier this year, and is very bright, modern and clean. Buffet options are on the limited side - there's about 3 kinds of chicken dishes, 6 types of vegetable dishes, one type of rice, papadum, vegetable spring rolls, pakora, and gulab jamun for dessert. Fresh naan is also available on request. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. They should leave some bowls out for the buffet (we see only plates) - we couldn't really enjoy the gulab jamun to its full potential! read more

We've been wanting to try this place for a long time but always opted for some other cuisine. I can't really say a lot about the service or ambiance since we ordered takeout. I CAN say that we both really enjoyed our dishes. My wife had the Chicken Tikka Masala and I got the Chicken Saagwala. The food was great. All of the food was well seasoned, spiced and well balanced . It had a pleasant depth of flavor and it tasted like they really took their time to prepare their dishes. You can choose the level of spicy from mild to hot as Indian food is known to be spicy. I love spicy food and can handle a lot of heat but my wife can't handle it too spicy, so we chose mild to be on the safe side since it was our first time trying it.. It was enough to let you know it was there and didn't sneak up on you with more heat as you continue to eat. It was quite enjoyable. We also got an order of the Garlic Rosemary Naan. We really enjoyed that as well. Their Naan is more of a thinner, crispier type. Definitely different from the more fluffy, softer Naan that you normally would find at other places, but don't let that trip you up. It was still very good, just different. We were about 4 to 5 bites in and I already said that I'm going to have this again. It really is good. It's absolutely on my food radar now Do yourself a flavor favor and check them out! read more

I also loved hearing how everybody was scared this place wasn't going to open any more and that everyone was glad it did! We got Tandoori chicken, rice, samosa's and pakora oh and garlic nan! Wow, this place is fantastic. I am someone who loves spicy dishes and the Lamb Curry did not disappoint. The meat was tender and flavorful, the curry was delicious and it came with rice. Ordered takeout. Delicious and best chicken tikka masala & butter chicken. I asked for a side chili powder on the side since my son could not take hot food. It was the most fragrant spicy pepper, not sure what's in it. Service was fast & very friendly. I took one star away due to price & portion. Both dishes were $14/each, out of the door was $30 for small portions (tiny rice cup & no naan). We barely got full. Please consider either add more nice or some naan. read more

We had a great meal, yesterday! We had Chicken Tika sizzling platter, Paneer Tika, sizzling platter, Navratan Korma & Chicken Tika Masala. The food was absolutely delicious! I only wish that they had a larger ice maker. I love my glass of tea full of ice, lots of refills with plenty more ice. PLEASE... Our waiter, Johnathan, is so nice and attentive! We were greeted by him as soon as we walked in! The hostess, the owner's daughter, was so welcoming & sweet. They were constantly checking to see if we had everything we needed. My mom & I came here tonight as a last-minute late-night dinner option. We quite literally picked Kurrywalah based on it's Yelp rating and relative proximity. We were not disappointed. The Chicken Tikka Marsal and Goat Rogan Josh were excellent. My mom chose the "mild" spice and we were both glad that she did. The heat was just enough to feel it, but not overpowering. I think medium might've been too much for either one of us. The staff was wonderful, and the training of new waiters which was occurring was subtle and effective. My opinion and based on our dinner experience this evening. Giving this place 5 stars exclusively for service and food taste. Been wanting to visit for a while; heard good things about it from friends and reviews online seem to bear them out. The place is located in a typical Houston area strip center at the intersection of Grant Rd and Malcolmson Rd in Cypress, NW Houston metro. The ambience is utterly minimalistic - too much so, and resembles an ordinary cafe type restaurant. The walls were stark white and tables were undistinguished as well - all pretty ordinary/industrial looking. Quite belies they photos on the website showing the Katy location. The refrigerator containing drinks and the soda dispenser in the dining room were incongruous at best. The website implied a more upscale ambience. The restaurant was not full and seating was freely available - service was prompt and friendly/solicitous. We ordered Gobi Manchurian for appetizer and mango lassi - this after learning that out first preference, Lychee drinks, was unavailable - the big bottle Taj Mahal beer too was disappointingly unavailable. Had the Himalayan Snowman beer instead, which was light and smooth. Ordered Bhindi Masala, Malai Kofta, Cilantro Chicken and Peshawari and Bullet Naans (Chilli Naan). Food arrived promptly, was piping hot and tastefully displayed on white dishes. Napkins thankfully were of cloth and not paper. Everything was clean - service certainly stood out, attentive and friendly. Food was not very spicy (despite asking for it) but well-balanced. Tastes were on the mark - very flavorful. The Bhindi was a bit fibery to taste but overall, the food hit the spot. Prices were on the high side - roughly $13.99 and up for a main dish. Quantities were not huge, but entirely sufficient. We finished everything that was served and we left full. The total cost was $89, including an 18% tip. All in all, glad we visited - the tasty food and excellent service will draw us back soon. read more

We ordered through a delivery service. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala, my husband got the Lamb Curry, and my son got the Lamb Rogan. We also ordered the Chicken Biryani and Garlic, Rosemary, Naan bread. Everything was fantastic! Cooked to perfection, tasty, and a generous portion. I will say the naan bread seemed to be made from scratch and was one of my faves. One tip...be aware of the spice levels. I ordered medium and it had a nice little kick to it. The most recent 1 star review is completely false. I was in the restaurant when this woman claimed to have a speck on her water glass. She then proceeded to touch every glass at an adjacent table, and when the wait staff politely offered to help, asking her to please not touch all the glasses, that instead they would get her another...she threw a fit. Extremely embarrassing behavior for a grown woman. We frequent this establishment and it is very clean and wait staff are incredibly helpful and courteous. Love the food!! read more
