Palette was by far an amazing experience. I could tell that I was going to love the cuisine just by the heavenly smell that greeted me as I entered. I ordered the butter chicken, basmati rice, and Dahl makhani. everything was so good. Not heavily buttered or covered in cream, just seasoned and warm and comforting to the soul. The owner saw my girlfriend sneezing repeatedly and brought us both a small cup of complimentary tomato soup. It was superb! A little spice a lot of flavor and warmth. I also got to sample almost everything they had on the line and I wasn't disappointed by anything I tasted! I actually took a plate to go as well as a mango lassi. Please give them a try and tell all of your friends too! read more

I went here based on the reviews on Yelp. This staff was very nice and had great customer service. I order vegetable briyani, chicken 65 with a mango lassi...pretty greedy that day. Unfortunatley the only thing that I liked was the mango lassi. The chicken was dry and barely had any seasoning. The vegetable briyani also wasn't well seasoned, in fact it felt like all the seasoning was in one spot. Great service but I don't think I will eat there again. read more

Fulfills all my home cooked Indian food cravings. Food is always fresh, customer service is on point. They really value each and every one of their customers and the food quality speaks volumes about that. Love the variety of dishes offered.. read more

I don't write many review often but the ones I do are worth it. If you are a lover of spice this is the place. It's the perfect amount of spice with the most intense flavors. I wish I knew about this place. I never knew I would love Indian food this much. For those of you who don't like spice in your food, don't worry, the flavors you get from the food is well worth it. I will be coming back a lot to this place. This became one of my favorite restaurants in Houston so far. read more

Went there today for lunch with business colleagues . Had read about the place on other sites. The restaurant is located in a strip center across from HEB just east of SH 99 in Rayford. Clean, modern interior, cafeteria style counter with buffet type offerings (thankfully creatively displayed and not in the usual depressing buffet tray and line style). Menu is quite extensive and caters to all tastes...a few fusion dishes like yummy Naan Melts (Naan pizzas with various veg and non-veg toppings). Good selection of grilled and curry dishes. Excellent chicken kheema (ground chicken) spring rolls. Flavors are quite authentic. South Indian Dosa (crepe) with several types of fillings - crisp as I like it! The chili paneer filling was divine. Most Indian joints make a hash of Dosas, not here! Chicken Hariyali was also a winner, Channa Masala came with green chilis and onions as trimmings-i was in heaven! All in all, quite pleased that a decent Indian place has opened up on the north side. Hope it thrives. Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity on offer. Planning to return with family soon. Kudos to Calvin Kolluri and staff for a great start. Keep it up! March 9 Update: Returned to Palette with family for dinner. Restaurant was busy on the Friday night...a good sign. Service was fantastic despite the rush of in-house and online orders. Calvin, the missus and crew kept up with the pace and even had time to exchange pleasantries. Our waitress, Natasha(?) was exemplary...she was a joy to interact with, very knowledgeable and even let us taste before ordering. Hope she stays for the long term. We ordered up a storm...some wine, appetizers (Chicken Keema Spring Rolls and Gobi (Cauliflower) Manchurian were fantastic), and entrees/mains (Chicken Tikka Kebab-heavenly, wonderfully spiced; Chicken Vindaloo and Channa Masala - both tasty but could be spicier; Lamb Curry Dosa-great touch, tender meat; Bhindi Masala - good but not the typical North Indian style; Peshwari Naan-delish, a bit delayed but came piping hot; Masala Fries-good taste, but soggy, needed to be crispy. Food plating/presentation was quite eye-catching. Overall, a great evening with a nice neighborhood buzz. Go there to experience the welcoming treatment and good food-the owners will be genuinely pleased you visited. Plan to return soon, of course! read more

We truly enjoyed Palette Indian Kitchen. The food is good and the place is very clean! The sample platter was a good way to try a variety of dishes. I really enjoyed the Chicken Tikka Naan Melt. It was the perfect pizza type meal. As a Punjabi couple, we enjoy a lot of spice but the food wasn't spicy at all for us. Next time we will try to request additional heat in our order. Also, as a person with Fibromyalgia, the seating isn't great. Metal chairs or a half booth are the options. The booth tilted down a bit and that didn't work well for me. It won't keep me from enjoying the food but I won't be spending a long time dining here either. read more

Great tasting food and good service. My 9 year old and I have picked up a few meals Togo and are always pleased!

So glad this was my first time trying Indian cuisine! It was soooo good and the owner was so kind. He stopped by everyone's table to talk to them. Highly recommend trying the dosa! And their naan with homemade hummus was amazing! read more

Finally make it for dinner tonight. We had been waiting to let the kinks work out. It was yummy! I think my husband ordered half the menu. Food was flavorful and the staff was lovely. I am hoping they expand their beer menu (Kingfisher perhaps?) and switch to table service at night. We will absolutely be back. read more

We made our first order from Palette this weekend. I have never eaten Indian food before and I have to say it was sooooooo delicious! The layers of flavor... so good! I loved everything we ordered! We will definitely be ordering again. Thank you for giving me such a lovely experience in my first Indian food! Everything was sooo delicious! read more

I had been eying this place for a few months since it opened. I recently began to embrace the flavor profiles used in Indian cuisine so much that I have been craving it lately. So when my bestie says she is willing to be adventurous and try it with me I was ecstatic we came in for a leisurely lunch about 1:30 on a Thursday. We inquired how they have their ordering set up and were delighted to find that they make it so easy for a quick pick up of popular dishes in an almost cafeteria style line up as well as being encouraged to take a seat and choose from the menu, order at the counter and then they bring out your order to you at your table to enjoy. The back ground music was understated but pleasant when noticed and the decor has clean lines and is elegantly accented with the cultural motif. I enjoyed a combination plate of butter chicken and saag paneer with white rice while my bestie tried the chicken masala with the lemon rice which she said was subtle and not overpowering. All the flavors were unique and enjoyable without being offensive. The naan was great and the Mango Lassi I ordered to-go was a nice cap off to a delicious meal. It was a joy when the owner stopped by the table to check on us and see how we were enjoying our meal. Calvin is very personable and you can tell he genuinely wants to make this place a neighborhood spot that is comfortable for families and groups while sharing incredible flavors. I truly hope this establishment sees a great show of interest from the community it has chosen to share itself with. read more

We came here for our work christmas party. We are a small team only 12 were at the dinner. They Gve us a little room in the back that was nice because we were separated, but it wasn't closed off so we could still feel the environment of the restaurant. Only 2 people in our entire group had tried Indian food before, so there was definitely some skepticism going in to it. However, the two ladies who attended to us did fantastic. They educated us on the menu, made some fantastic recommendations, and were very friendly. While we didn't all love everything we tried, we all agreed that it was delicious overall, and we had a lot of fun. The fan favorite of shareable dishes was the Gobi Manchurian. It was cauliflower covered in a sauce and they legit tasted like hot wings. They were delicious! We also tried the samosas and the chicken lollipops, and they were also delicious. I can't speak for what everyone in the group had, but I personally had the goat tikka masala and I tried the lamb pepper fry. And, they were both incredible. I want to try other things in the menu, but after I've been back and explored the menu the Lamb pepper fry may be my go to. It was sooo good. I got the goat tikka masala extra spicy and it was just the right amount of heat for someone who loves truly spicy food, which I do. You can get it kild though, if that isnt your thing! And the shining star of all good things. That garlic naan is life! try what you want but get the garlic naan! It won't disappoint!! read more

One of my favorite places to eat in the area! I love the consistency of excellence that I always find at Palette Indian Kitchen!

THIS IS NOT INDIAN FOOD! they should be embarrassed! The chicken tandoori and saag paneer was so Americanized and disgusting! Do not eat here! If you want real Indian food check out Hyderabad House a few miles down the road! read more

Food is Excellent, you won't be disappointed. We have been here twice and will definitely be back again. The food is flavorful and not overly spicy, just right. This will be one of our new favorite spots. The owners are friendly and take pride in what they do. And the Oreo crêpe is a must have! read more

Indian lunch buffet is a hit and miss. The environment and setting is very nice. The owner is nice. They change up the menu, at least for the lunch buffet, which isn't a bad thing but the second time on a weekday I visited wasn't good. There was only 1 type of meat, chicken, and the sauces weren't flavorful. The first time on the weekend was decent. Worth a try to see if you're lucky to have the dishes you like. read more

Wife and I came here for the first time and we were most pleased. I have known the owner for many years since we worked together but only now got a chance to try his new restaurant. The menu was comprehensive and featured a wide selection of typical favourites as well as some other dishes for a great choice of food. Prices were typical, and the menu offered choices a la carte as well as the immediately available combo platters which were already prepared and kept hot and ready to be enjoyed. I ordered the Lamb and Potato Curry combo platter with Dhal as an included side. My wife ordered the Coconut and Tamarind Chicken with Saag Paneer as the included side. Both came with lemon rice and delicious fresh naan bread on the side. The food was hot and delicious, and not at all spicy for those with delicate palates. I asked for some vindaloo sauce which was essentially a pepper sauce on the side and that kicked things up a notch or three for me - just perfect. The ambience in the restaurant was very pleasing, adding to the enjoyment of meal. The staff were very friendly also. While time did not permit me to enjoy a wide selection of the staples on the menu, I highly recommend Palette to anyone looking for good quality Indian food, and will be back to give other dishes a try. read more

Delicious cuisine. Very fine customer service. The dine in experience was both comfortable and beautiful. Will be returning.

I had an AMAZING meal here today! Their lunch buffet had wonderful options and every dish I tried was a delicious culinary explosion of flavor and spices. Do yourself a favor and get the Chicken Popsicles. You won't regret it. Food was bomb af and great service. Can't wait to go back.

I loved the Indian food that I had at this restaurant. Our family ate the Buttered Chicken Curry, Lamb Vindaloo, Rogan Josh Curry, Dhal and Samosas. We all left the restaurant very satisfied and full, the kids loved it. Can't wait till they expand the menu even more. The owners and staff were very friendly and happy to answer any questions that we had. We will be definitely going back for some more great Indian food. read more

You know how you judge every Mexican restaurant by the staples? Indian cuisine is no different. Easily the best samosas, naan and vindaloo in town. The staples are rock solid... so the rest is amazing!! The owners are very nice, too!! So... just eat here or order out right now. read more

This place is absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I was in heaven today at lunch. We tried the vegetable samosas, hummus and the butter chicken. Everything was perfectly seasoned, fresh and delightful. I am not an expert on Indian cuisines, in fact I have disliked most places I have tried, but this place has left me yearning for more. The concept is a little confusing, because some of it is cafe style and some of it is restaurant style, but the staff was super friendly and ready to help. I also recommend finishing your meal with the carrot salad dessert. Enjoy read more

I went with my foodie group for one of our monthly gatherings and could not have been more pleased with the personal attention of the lovely owners, the warm and welcoming environment, and most importantly, the delicious Indian inspired offerings. The grilled lamb was tender and well flavored, the vegetables oh so tasty, perfect rice of course and I'm always down for some Naan and Dahl. So fresh. And did I mention the crepes they are now making in house? What? Be still my beating heart. What a delightful light"ish" sweet treat to round out the meal. So excited to have this new establishment close to home. In the words of Arnold..."I'll be back"! read more

The food tastes wonderful !! this is by far the best Indian food I have tasted since moving to Houston 5 years ago - I am so happy it is so close to where I live - when we went it was just opening so the menu was limited - I had buttered chicken and my husband had the lamb both delicious - the home cooked nan bread was heaven ! read more

Just had lunch here today and I was looking forward to it due to all these high ratings. I grew up near the Hillcroft area and I love Indian food. What a disappointment! The lunch buffet was tepid, the meat or should I say chicken dishes (no lamb, goat or beef) were bland and hard, the Tandoori chicken was dry and super sour. The vegetarian dishes like saag paneer and Dal Tadka was crazy spicy hot. The naan was under baked, it was so white Trump would have loved it! The kheer rice pudding had no nuts or raisins and it had a sour aftertaste. Weird. Just weird. read more

Great food, friendly owner... I would definitely recommend this for lunch or dinner. Not sure if they have breakfast stuff.

Very awesome location. It is right next to my moms house, so she orders from here all the time. It's definitely not my favorite Indian food place but it is good. They have decent portion sizes and ok flavor. Wish it had more spice or some kind of kick to it. Other than that, we enjoy it every time. read more
